2008-12-01 [moira hawthorne]: alaskian king crab legs! yummmy! but they are so expensive! I love them more than lobster.. and shimp is the cheep version... frozen shrimp is just yucky... blah... have to have that red tomatoe suace b/c they are tasteless without it
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: My brother actually did some giant tiger shrimp on the bar-be-que this weekend. OMG! They were soooo good! XD Crab legs are yummy too but they're so hard to open. Gah...
2008-12-01 [Jeccabee]: I've never actually had the large crab legs...just the little ones as an appitizer...at
I'm not a huge shirmp fan either..unless it's in something like pasta. And I dont like labster either. I wish I did cause it's so pretty, but I just dont have the taste for it. :(
OOOH but I do love calimari! mmmmmmm
2008-12-01 [moira hawthorne]: oooooh yes!calimari! love them dry fried or in pasta...
2008-12-01 [Jeccabee]: hmm never had it in pasta...but sounds good! Course I have had it when it was over cooked...NOT GOOD! too chewy.
mmm now I want some pasta with shrimp. Only an hour till lunch!
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: Mmmm... calimari is definitely delicious! I've always wondered what octopus tastes like but I've never seen it here other than uncooked and I don't know how to prepare it.
2008-12-01 [Jeccabee]: I wish I did. I'd love to make up some nice calimari!
I've also tried es cargo (sp?) by accident. I though I was ordering calimari (got the names mixed up). When I got the dish I was like...this isnt es cargo (still thinkin calimari in my head). Then my dad figured it out and told me what it was. I tried it since I had it there...and it wasnt bad! It was German style (out of the shell) and on crackers.
2008-12-01 [moira hawthorne]: over cookin is no good... rubbery... or if it was frozen before cookin it can be rubbery... blah... poorly cooked food is never fun! food is a necessity... but it is also one of the great pleasures in life... right up there with sex and avoiding taxes!
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: Escargot - its french for 'snails'. ^_^ I love them in lots of garlic butter and still in the shell. You get a little fork to pry them out with! My sister once said they're like 'fishy bubblegum'! LOL!
2008-12-01 [Jeccabee]: Ah yeah...that's how it's spelled! Yeah I figured it out after a while that it was snails and not squid. But it came in this plate with lil bowls in it with each unshelled snail in some sort of sauce. And you put it on a cracker. It was at a German restaurant, so I figured it was how they fixed it. But it said Escargot on the menu.
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: Its a certain type of snail I think which is why that word is used. I could be wrong about that though. I sure as heck wouldn't try cooking North American snails. ><
2008-12-01 [moira hawthorne]: Escargot are yummy too... and oysters! fresh... just slice open the shell and slide them down or baked with garlic and butter and stuff... even clams are good that way
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: I like smoked oysters and mussels myself. I've never been brave enough for raw oysters. I've tried fresh water clams and crayfish before and they're not bad but you have to really rinse them to get all the sand out of them. O_o
2008-12-01 [Jeccabee]: my brogher-in-law loves smoked oysters. It's on his Christmas list! LOL
I've never tired them myself, but I think I'd be brave enough to try a cooked one. I dont think I could stand a raw one. My dad LOVES raw oysters. It grosses my mom and me out to watch him eat them. LOL
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: They're very yummy! XD
I want to try them some day. *nods* They're reputed to be an aphrodisiac! ;) Hee hee hee...
2008-12-01 [Jeccabee]: *giggles*
2008-12-01 [moira hawthorne]: cant say/prove they are an aphrodisiac... no one had sex at the party and we all ate a ton of them.. to the point we were stuffed... but sure did have alot of fun... singing and stuff... most the people at this party were musicians and/or choir singers... it was an awesome cheerful party!
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: LOL! Well, unlike viagra I don't think the raw oyster's potency has been scientifically proven. ;)
2008-12-01 [Flisky]: Methinks I walked into the wrong part of this conversation. :)
2008-12-01 [moira hawthorne]: I think its all in your head.... if you like watchin people slurp away at mucousey slippery slimey foldey stuff... and you are in an intimate mood... you likely start thinkin of other things they could be slurping at....
2008-12-01 [Yuriona]: I think the myth has something more to do with the oyster's high nutrient level increasing fertility or something like that though I could see how that sort of imagery would be suggestive. =3
