Secure Storage

In a room of horrors the walls are lined with massive glass containers, a least two dozen in total, lit as if on display. The beings inside are floating in a kind of breathable liquid, trapped in a state of suspended animation. Many of these abandoned creations are obviously dead; in some of the containers parts of bodies float about, leaking blood and other unknown fluids that stain the liquid they slept in a murky, reddish brown. A number of those that are still mostly intact are so far removed from the human state that the very sight of them could make a person feel ill. Notably is a flesh colored thing that almost looks as if it were a human that had been forced tightly into a ball and then had each limb sown into place. Wings sprouted from where elbows, knees, ankles, shoulders, and wrists had once been and closed lids decorate its flesh. Another is a creature with red, scaly skin and three animal-like faces. Several more human like beings also float in stasis however, and the screens beneath their glass enclosures are still picking up vital signs.

A loud siren suddenly begins to wail within the room, the emergency lights flashing, and the containers with still living contents begin to drain. The process to awaken the inhabitants begin; adrenaline pumping through the IVs still attached to them and the lids starting to come free, ready to be pushed opened.

The sound of someone coming awake violently and abruptly came from one of the containers as the lid was pushed forward with a frightening amount of force. Tearing out his IV, Sorek felt anger and awareness creeping up on him as he moved from the enclosure. This was...new. Everything was new. Something on his back twitched and caught on the entrance to the container and the boy turned one head to look over his shoulder, seeing the wet wings that protruded as they slowly started to lift. His muscle control wasn't great, and he stumbled forward, falling on his hands and knees as another primal sound came from him.

Lena opened her eyes as the siren started, scared and confused she quickly tore out the IV not being the less bit careful. She tossed the lid away, nearly falling to the floor due to not being used to her body, she caught herself with her arms and looked bewildered at them.
She wasn't quite sure, but she was almost positive her arms didn't look normal.

In the container across from Sorek's a young woman blinks open her bright blue eyes, looking at first merely pained and confused. She pressed her hands against the glass lid, finding that it moved easily as she leaned into it for support. As her vision cleared she saw a young man with wings on the floor in front of her and behind him rows of glass containers. Like the one I'm in? It was then that she realized the weight hanging behind her and the IV's buried in her arms. She made a high pitched noise in her throat and looked around again, screaming when she saw the monsters inside the other containers. Collapsing to the floor, Delilah covered her eyes, the massive white wings behind her extending out as far as they were able.

Dulled light brown eyes opened with a start as the adrenaline rushed through Harkin's body. With a coughing gasp, the malnutritioned-looking boy leaned against the glass lid, which ended with his stumbling out when the loosened door swung open under his weight. The stumbling caused the IV to rip from his arm, some blood dripping to the floor as Harkin landed on his knees, still coughing.

Sorek was already pushing himself up off the floor, his legs still wobbly underneath him, before most of the others had even gotten out of their containers. He was panting slightly, unfamiliar emotions running through him. Nothing in his mind had substance, but he instantly disliked (although didn't know what that meant) the others who were appearing. His mind recognized them as living. Everything else around the room was dead. Letting out a harsh breath that bordered on a growl, he stiffened his legs and tightened everything, finding his feet and using his wings in a natural movement to send a rush of air around the room as he kept himself upright.

Irah woke to the loud screeching siren, she opened her eyes and froze. Her left eye adjusted after quickly running through it's many functions. With her eyes seeing in normal vision or as close as she assumed was normal she observed the others. Shee found unlike the others her IV was full of some kind of oil. She ulle it out and watched as her skin closed over the hole. Iran tested her fingers, toes, legs and arms. She had decided she would be fine and she gently pushed open her door and stepped out, she took a deep breath and decided the girl screaming was a priority. She gently knocked on the glass but had been woefully unprepared for what happened when the container shattered when she put her knuckles to it. She had lifted her eyebrows but said nothing. She offered her hand to the obviously frightened girl and ignored the others for now. While she was confused at the strange noises she heard in her left ear... everything, she ignored that too for now.

Lena pulled her bright red hair behind her ear as she stood up. She looked around in awe at everything before her eyes locked on the screaming winged girl and the woman overhung her hand to the girl. She slowly walked towards them, wobbling slightly at first but getting the hang of it rather quickly.

Lifting her head, while still sobbing uncontrollably, Delilah looked up at the white haired woman before her. Hope registered on her face and sh reached out to grab at the woman's shoulders. "Where am I?" She asked through her shudders and sniffles, but then she noticed that this woman was also naked and wet, just like she was and pulled back. The young girl looked down at the IVs still attached to her wrists and winced, she wanted to be free of them but she was to afraid to do it herself, to afraid of the pain. "Help, please?" She then asked.

Irah nodded her head in understanding and pulled them loose it was quick and not very pain full, unfortunately she ripped it out of the machine at the same time. "I believe we should find clothing and figure out what is... done to us." Irah spoke so the others could hear. She helped the girl with wings up to her feet and held on to her until she could find her own balance. Meanwhile she focused on what she heard, a lot of mechanical noises, a drainage somewhere many other sounds none seeming dangerous. Her eye when she focused on a few things zoomed in and when she stopped concentrating her vision when normal again. She would figure the rest of this out later.

Giving a glare at the two who were speaking, Sorek had to struggle to figure out what they were saying. Once words started connecting, he let out a breath and moved across the room, hands grabbing at a piece of cloth as he went, which went around his waist and was tied before he even reached the door. He barely cared that the others were still waking up or gaining their bearings, Sorek realized he really didn't care about any of them. He paused at the door, however, his mind still not fully connecting where he was or where the door would lead to.

Lena hadn't even registered her lack of clothing until the none winged girl spoke. she looked at herself and moved one arm acrossed her upper chest before looking back at the girl and nodding. "It is rather cod in here...clothing would be nice."

When Harkin finished coughing, his gaze locked on his hands, as well as the floor beneath them. He moved one hand slightly, transfixed on the foreign-to-him texture. Eventually he looked up at Irah's words. "'Done to us'?" For some reason that phrase stood out to him. Were they not supposed to be there? Where are they, anyways? He could not remember anything but waking up... For all he knew, this was the most natural place to be.

The young woman grasped Irah's hand gratefully, rising from the floor with legs that buckled and wobbled beneath her. "What is this place?" She whimpered, clinging to the odd looking woman for support. Her lips parted and trembled, the tears threatening to overflow when she heard Harkin echo what Irah had said. "Something's been done to us?" Then she seemed to really notice the weight on her back. "What- what is attached to me?" Delilah turned her head, craning her neck to see as panic began to bloom across her pretty features. She arched her back and the large, feathered appendages fully unfolded and extended, spreading out a full five feet to either side. "What are those? Get them off!"

Irah smiled at the woman she helped to stand. "Why would I take them off if they work why not use them?" Irah looked around before noticing the others were having trouble standing and functioning. "We should take a moment to assess ourselves and find something to cover ourselves before deciding anything we might do otherwise." Irah suggested her left eye focused and refocused looking through the wall which made her teeter on her feet a little before it stopped and have her back the same vision as her regular eye. She noticed she was... Far less fleshy then everyone else was but kept any other comments to herself something told her if she wanted to survive they would need to work together.

His own wings folded against his back, Sorek glanced back at the others long enough to decide that they were not worth the effort. Even the one like himself was barely able to contain her fear. That annoyed him greatly. These things attached to them were part of them, not something to pull off and discard. "Stop bitching!" came his first words, surprising at the sheer smoothness of his voice. That was all the boy said as he pushed at the door to attempt to open it, not sure which way it needed to go so he could leave this room to its less than stellar occupants.

Lena looked at the winged male with slight annoyedness. "Its no surprise that people are scared. This is a very unusual way to..." she fished for the right words, she would say 'be created in' but that would only cause more panic, and there for, more of a headache. Instead she said, "..Awaken."

Once Harkin was finished exploring the texture of the floor, he began examining the glass container that "birthed" him. He ran his fingers over the door, walls and flooring of the container, trying to figure out why he was inside it and why he suddenly popped out.

Delilah seemed more confused than ever by what Irah suggested and, though her mouth opened to respond, she was cut off by the man standing a little ways from them, flinching at the harshness of his words and following it with a soft sniffle. She noticed then that he had wings attached to his back; a glance over her shoulder let her see that she did as well. "Where are you go--"

Before Delilah could finish speaking two things happened at once: The door Sorek pushed on gave way and there came a loud groan from directly above him. The entire ceiling gave a shudder and seemed to jerk closer to the people below as if there was a great weight pressing down from above it. Beads of an unidentified yellow substance formed where it had begun to sag and dripped down onto the tile, hissing as it landed.

He didn't rightly care about the people in the room, but at least one of them could be used as some form of protection. These thoughts didn't really surprise Sorek in the least as he reached out and grabbed the closest person to him to push from the room. That is was the winged female he had yelled at before went over his head. He didn't want to be in the room when it collapsed. He followed after her right into Lab 218: E-Block.

""That's not good." Lena murmured looking up at the ceiling before looking between the two doors. Noticing that the winged male had just left with the female, she decided it was best to stick together and headed towards Lab 218: E-Block as well.

Just as Lena passed beneath the groaning, leaking ceiling and through the doors into the hallway, an awful screech could be heard from above, injuring the ears of everyone in the room as well as those just beyond it. Following this the floor overhead shook and groaned louder before suddenly giving way and carrying with it a young woman.

Still kneeling before the glass container that "birthed" him, Harkin glanced around in confusion and mild alarm at the sudden noises--his curiosity and startlement towards it completely overriding any interest in what the others were doing--and covered his ears when the screech occurred. When a woman fell through the ceiling, he took several moments to respond, still somewhat curled against himself as a defense against the noise. Eventually though, he stumbled towards her.

Silera hit the floor with a painful thud and for a moment she was stunned by the hard blow. She lay still for several long moments, still laying under the disgusting burning mass, until she managed to pull herself away from the mess. Her skin was burning, her feathers were plastered against her skin and she could barely see. Only a blurry figure announced Harkin's presence and she panicked, slashing with her talons and lunging blindly at him.

Harkin felt a sharp sting, then burn of pain. He held his arms in front of his face and fell backwards onto his rear as the woman attacked him. His toxic blood, however, coated her talons.

Encourage by the feel of her talons cutting into flesh Silera lunged forward again. This time though her grasping talons were more questing. She'd recognized the difference in texture, "Who's there?" She croaked painfully, though happily most of the damage had only been done to her skin and not internal organs.

Harkin was frightened into stillness aside from his shivering. His body could not even process her grabbing him well enough to flinch away. "I-I don't know. I just woke up."

"Ugh. Get a grip. You're telling me you don't know who you are?" Silera snarled impatiently. Now that she knew she wasn't in danger she was just plain pissed. "Did anyone else fall?" She asked.

"A lot of us fell from glasses...You're the only one to fall from the sky so far, though." Harkin replied, much calmer than before. His shuddering lessened, but he still would not move.

"I didn't fall from the sky, dimwit." Silera snapped irritably and forced herself to stand. "Is there a water source around here?" She asked as she swayed in place. She was still in pain, but it had faded to a dull ache now that the slime wasn't being renewed. She needed water, something to clean this crap off her and get back to Marcus, at least he was useful. Falling from the sky. Ugh this kid was crazy.

"I don't know. I've only ever been here." Harkin admitted. He looked around, hoping to find a sort of water source or faucet... "Would these work?" He pointed at an IV still hanging from a glass tube.

"No." Silera answered flatly. There wasn't a chance in hell she would bathe herself in possibly chemicals and instead she stumbled forward. There has to be water somewhere. She growled stubbornly as she leaned against the wall and started making her way towards Lab 218: E-Block. Right before reaching the doorway and glanced back at Harkin. "You can come with me or you can stay... but I'm getting out of here either way."

Glancing around and realizing that everyone else has left, Harkin followed Silera out to Lab 218: E-Block. When he reached the doorway, he gave the broken ceiling one last look of curiosity before walking out.

Irah woke, at first she wasn't certain what had happened or even where she was. Then she realized there was all sorts of rubble covering her. It took only moments for Irah to get out from beneath the rubble, she felt twinges from her cheek, her left arm, and her right leg. When she had cleared the rubble completely she was surprised to see the damage to her body, there was only little blood but her skin had torn and she could see mechanical innards in her leg. Finding a reflective surface she found that her cheek too had been cut. She found something to put herself together with, a needle and plastic threading of some kind. Since she had no feeling of pain where she had been hurt, she sewed herself up quickly and realized she was the only one left in this room. So she gathered herself up and went out the door to Lab 218: E-Block
