Pool
Unlike the other rooms in the building, there are no motion sensor lights in this room, leaving it in absolute darkness. There are the sounds of something moving, but it is not the gentle lapping of water against the sides of a pool, and the smell in the room is not chlorine. Instead the place contains the strong stench of acid and rotting flesh, with soft squishes and wet slapping sounds echoing throughout.
Silera wasn't paying much attention to anything as she stumbled through the door. All she could hear was water even the stench failed to put her off and she fell at the edge and started scooping up water and washing off the burning gunk.
Silera was extremely unlucky. What she thought was water was actually diluted acid mixed with decayed body parts, pitch black and thick. though it did not burn her at first, the moment it made contact with her wounds it burbled as if alive and stung painfully.
Silera hissed painfully and jerked her arm back. She scooted back until she felt the wall at her back and hugged her arm closer to her body as she whimpered in pain. Where there was a pool there would be changing rooms. Old clothes or towels, anything like that would come in use but for now she stayed still as she attempted to compose herself.
A sound echoed Silera's hiss, but it wasn't the walls just repeating her cry; this was a low groan that grew louder and louder until it seemed to fill the empty space like a physical thing. It was chilling, enough to raise hairs, and had a note of anguish in it. Then came wet, squishing sounds that seemed to be moving closer to her position.
Oh fuck.
Silera growled audibly and her feathers bristled but for once she wasn't sticking around to find out what the hell was happening. She couldn't fight an opponent she couldn't see and the sounds were to much even for her as she desperately scrambled back trying to find another doorway.
Silera's hands met with the door through which she came. Meanwhile, something was still coming her way, its steps punctuated by loud wet slaps against tile. From the darkness a hoarse croon could be heard: "Siiiillllleeeeeerrrraaaaaaaaa".
That made her pause.
Silera stopped what she was doing and turned to face the creature she could hear approaching. "How do you know my name" She snarled, blustering through the fear she felt as she glared into the darkness though she was keeping on hand on the door, ready to throw herself out of the room at a moments notice.
Something cold and wet and disgusting reached out through the darkness and gripped her leg, clinging tightly to her. It felt like a hand with far too many fingers, each digit long and pony and multi-jointed. The moment it touched her flesh her mind was violently assaulted. Images and emotions that didn't belong to her whipped through her and with it pain. She saw flashes of steel, masked faces and blinding white lights. "See what they've done to me?" The voice was in her head now, raspy but loud. "LOOK AT WHAT THEY'VE DONE TO ME!"
Silera dry heaved and started to recoil but was brought to her knees by the images running painfully through her mind. She wanted to scream but she couldn't seem to force the sound out of her mouth. "How do you know me? Who did this? I will rip them to shreds for you." She finally managed to croak hoarsely as she dropped her hand over the sickening appendage gripping her leg.
"The doctor....." It rasped in reply, then fell silent. The fingers gripping her leg loosened and went limp, then slowly receded. Another sound could be heard, soft as it was; the final, dying breath of whatever had just touched her mind.
"No!"
Silera yelled as she felt around for the creature. "Tell me how you knew me! Don't die!" She hissed helplessly as she held on to the creature's hand. She didn't know why, but she felt tears pricking at her eyes, after feeling the creature's suffering and losing what could've been her only link to who she was. "I'll kill him for you." She finally whispered and angrily wiped away any signs of wetness from her eyes. After giving her promise she stood up and stepped out of the room back into
Lab 218: E-Block
Sorek ran into the room and found himself immediately blinded by the darkness. He couldn't see anything, but he kept on running, his bare feet slapping loudly against wet tile. He would get away,
he would be free. Then suddenly there was no more floor beneath him; Sorek had fallen into the pool. He hit the surface feet first and was sucked right down into it, his skin burning as an oily slickness coated his bare flesh and lapped at his face. Instinctively he fought against it, throwing out his arms, kicking his legs, and pumping his wings, but this wasn't water he was swimming in. While he desperately fought to stay afloat and find the ledge to pull himself out it felt like his entire body was being pulled down by the thick substance. Though he didn't know it, his momentum had carried him too far out, the side of the pool far out of his reach and instead his hands and feet found something else. Beneath his foot, something cold and slick and broad sporting bony protrusions that scraped at his skin, his hands grabbing at wet fur and bloated flesh, seeking purchase, trying to push himself up out of this pit, to escape the pain as it ate at his flesh and burned the feathers from his wings and while he panted and cried out. Something moved against his skin and he tried to jerk away from it, only to feel a thick, slimy appendage snake around his leg feeling like damp rubber on his skin as it tightened and yanked, dragging him deeper. With no way to keep himself afloat Sorek went under with a yell and the oil-like substance flooded into his mouth and his nose, bitter until it eroded away his taste buds and his tongue and all the soft tissue, seeping into his throat and lungs until he was drowning in it, his eyes, which had seen nothing in the utter blackness, melted; he would never see anything again. With no voice and no breath and no ears to hear himself, he tried still to scream. Large, jagged teeth clamped into his leg, tearing through the acid eaten flesh and into muscle and bone while hands and claws raked his body. So much pain, so much burning, agonizing pain as he suffocated in acid and rotting flesh. His dying struggles, as mad as they were, caused only a ripple along the surface of the pool.
Luca entered the room, his hands flaring to life with flames, lighting the room, but he had come in too late. In mere seconds Sorek was dragged under, though it must have felt like an eternity for him. The agent stepped closer, staring down into the depths of insanity as things along the surface fled deeper into the pit to escape his light, and sighed regretfully. "Fuck." There was no coming back from it, and only one thing left to do. Kneeling on the ledge, he rested his hands along the surface, took a deep breath and forced his fire through his palms. The oily substance immediately began to boil as jets of flame shot into it, the intense heat scalding and burning everything within. Though it shouldn't have been possible, the surface of it lit up with flames until the whole thing was on fire, and from withing terrible screams and moans arose, a cacophony that filled the room as the denizens of the pit died in flame.
His task now finished, Luca rose and solemnly made his way around the side of the fiery pit, pushing through the door to the Lab 218: E-Block.
