Lin's Comments

I write. It is my oxygen, so to say. I cannot imagine a life without writing. My feelings, my ideas, everything is expressed in the lines of my poetry. Yet, somehow, it is always a struggle to actually say something of what I write to convey its essence, its importance, its character. Thus I'll merely leave you to read these pieces, and hope you get some fashion of enjoyment out of them. Fare thee well.

~[Linderel]

Memory

In the break of dawn
silent whispers
and soundless steps
echo in my memory

My eyes flutter shut
I feel cold, numb
my limbs I can barely move

Flashes of red
fire through my mind
I am bewitched

To stay here forever
my love, that is my only wish
to stay here forever
beneath this icy white blanket

Just to remember
what it was like
to be with you

Illusion of belonging

Moments flashing by

   in rapid moves

bare white arms and legs

    and intoxicating, sweet smells

                 I'm lost in this moment

swept into

    a fragile illusion

 of us, you and me

together

in what seems to be

  yesterday

or centuries ago

  no, wait

what is this

it wasn't meant to be that way

You belong in the distant past

while I...

 I

   am

        trapped

  in between

Tormented; unlearn

Nails upon soft skin
taste of iron in your mouth
hands lined with faint traces of scars

phantom words stabbing your chest
the walls that crumbled
a long time ago

standing under a cascade
of scalding hot water
to wash it all away

Destination

Burned my eyes with tears
opening the window to freedom
I fall and watch the flow

Believer of hope

Butterfly soar on the sky
delicate wings ripped by the wind
go home where you belong
into the fields of grass and bloom

Burned by the flame or
killed by a hand
this beauty never dies
and only sometimes possible to understand

Flutter shut your eyes and sigh
make a difference
open your heart, open your mind
let not the light fade from your smile

Impossible things come with a cost
every magic some day weakens
reality's cruel claws will not let you fly
but don't give up and always dream

White in D minor

Breathe on frosty glass
under fingertips
blue with cold

life force drying out
with every single sigh
the last winter is here

north wind
sings a melody
meant for the weary and wistful

telling of days
gone long ago
and of rare sheltered nights

lying down
on a bed of hay and dried leaves
closing tired eyes

listening
to the very last notes
of a hammering heart

slowly
fading
away

Heretic

Holding the keys to heaven
a heavy burden
on frail shoulders

he searches for his destiny
a road to be followed
to have a meaning

even the most devoted servant
can turn against his lord
when chased too far

Remorse

Strings broken
snapped forcefully
porceline face stained

crying thick crimson tears
doll's lifeless dream lifted

oblivion never before such sweet state
bliss without emotion

Sky chaser

Earth-bound
silenced dreams
await any chance
Can we reach faraway suns?

Star gazer's
lonesome eyes
pierce through parallels
longing answers behind infinity

Between

Am I a freak to your eyes
when I can't decide
--more than anything else
only confused and lost
in the face of requirement--

is it really
that important
knowing one's place in
the biology of this system

Applying social pressure
on those who differ
masses suffocate the hesitant

What does it really matter
--is it so hard to understand?

I am neither Adam nor Eve.

Vertigo

Like a ropedancer

afraid of heights

standing frozen in darkness

s h i v e r i n g

simply waiting to lose

the frail balance

and through the spotlight

fall
      down

finally s h a t t e r .

The silent muse

Morpheus (my master)
painter of fantasies
let me stand under your wing
teach me everything of sleep's (lethal) might
and hold open the door
that leads me astray

Morpheus (my saviour)
soother of souls
allow me tears in your kingdom
sing me lullabies of old (forgotten) times
and provide the shaky support
that bruises my palms

Morpheus (my love)
weaver of dreams
take me into your dark embrace
show me lands of unknown (savage) beauty
and grant the fragile visions
that preserve my (in)sanity

Sunbairn

Shine, star child, shine
brightly, with abandon
live life to its fullest

keep dreaming
keep believing
there are only so many griefs in this world

run free
to your heart's desire
dance among the waves of that ocean

in the morning mist
there is a promise
reach out with graceful hands

and find
what you search
to enter eternity

Path of an outlaw

Cold;
a girl's frosty breath lingers
drawn out in a sigh
just as eyes longingly caress
the curves of a lithe body
in loving strokes

separated;
window might as well be
a brick wall with barbed wire
such agony
that rips open her heart
as tear blur a vision already upset

She ran away from home;
the stereotypical foolish young woman
leaving everything
for the sake of a heated gaze
and a smile from divine lips
still all for nothing

Slender fingers rise;
touching angry red scars
strewn over a once beautiful face
she remembers the ship
and the vow of loyalty
only thing left of her honour

Outlaw and wanted;
what she has become
for these few moments
of day-dreaming flavoured bitter
and she bids farewell to the unknowing
as her steps take her back

to the skull and crossbones
etched deep into her restless soul

Maze (Imprisonment)

Living in the midst
of an array of masks
for protection against all those eyes

on her, observing every move
Each façade different
yet perfectly mastered and

carried out artfully
Her skin is warm and radiates like the sun
but cold to the touch for

wearing all those faces, she is lost
Looking in the mirror on the morrow
the poor young dame does not recognise herself

Aurora

Birds sing
      hear
  the joyous serenade
echoing in
                  the treetops

     wake
sad girl
        with eyes puffy
   and red-rimmed
               hiding beneath the blanket

taste the world
     on your tongue
   smell the rain
              in clear morning air
reach out and touch the sun

wake
    mundane princess
  fallen into deep slumber
               of unspeakable hurt
     and too many broken promises

rise up
   drawing inner light around you
        as a protective curtain
burn the memories in candle flames
but never hide the curving signs

Apollo's child

Drip
the heady flow of
onomatopoeia

I drink up the water words
running through my veins
between conjoined fingers

hum sighing murmurs
over the rustling of leaves
this is the life

Archaic melodies

Sing, chant low unto me
the ancient verses that are to be

unite our souls, our minds
so this bond we share refuge finds

We once have been made keepers
of promises, of still sleepers

the destiny of my people, my heritage
daughter of Odin meant to become a sage

To heal, to mend wounds of old
I must be the one to remember the stories told

and lo, I have seen everything
on my long journeys, vagabond wandering

Soft tresses of raven hair
frame this pale face fair

with eyes surrounded by wrinkles etched deep
that many a time did weep

Come with me, step to the unknown
where many a future shall be shown

and so in the symphony halls of life
my words linger, they shall thrive

Play pretend (In the Court of Kings)

Behind cloth doors
barred windows
our palaces are built

from sand and pine needles
small stones and sea shells
shards of painted glass

our finest meals
served in many courses
of weed and grass and a dash of rice

we live like child kings
in this village filled with ghosts
of our families long gone

Portrait of a muse

Her eyes, like deep pools of water
opalescent and ever-shifting
gaze at me with such arrogant pride
her lips curled in a knowing smirk
posture radiating all that which I am not

She is a part of me
yet entirely someone else
and when she whispers
words, thoughts, fates of the human race
I do not know who we are

And I write out my heart
under her watchful, curious guard
long golden wisps of hair
hiding us behind their curtain
in so doing, uniting us as one

Entity

Thy name is Phoenix
the Lady risen from ashes
passion met power
thou art a demon of light incarnate

Enticing me
thy name on my lips, Aphrodite
thou art my goddess
of love and lust

With water, trees, song of birds
I was borne by thee
thou art the parent who buries her children
and forever thy name is Gaia

Lady Wintertime

A cold winter breeze
brushing my cheeks
whispering beautiful songs in my ears
playing with the white locks
of my frosty hair

My pale blue skin
glows faintly in the night
Snowflakes drifting
down for my delight
small, delicate fairy wings
fluttering as they come

I raise my head toward the skies
smiling to the stars
My heart sings and I rejoice
for it is winter again
And I am the Lady Wintertime

Black dreams

Scarlet butterflies
and birds coloured raven black
flying towards the horizon
that shines a deep, angry purple

Skeleton dancers
under a pale white moon
painting a brilliant, terrifying dream
spreading their wings of a bat
with fairylike grace
too beautiful to watch

A play of the darkest night
is here before your eyes
horrified and blinding
Blinding with the scarlet butterflies
of your own blood

Dancer in the dark

Here
in my own little place
I move gracefully
without a sound
a joy in my steps

To this music
that echoes in my mind
I dance
with no worry
of tomorrow

I see nothing
but the stars
so does this make me
a dancer in the dark?

Coal black wings

Yearning to the sky
my soul burns with this desire
to fly high, higher
be free like never before

- but these wings of mine
coal black, torn and ugly
caked with dirt and blood
can't carry me

weak, powerless
against the winds that blow
they are only bitter irony

these coal black wings
meant to be bright and pure

Treasure

Shy mouth
curving in
the faintest of smiles
that begins to spread

until eyes not only
twinkle
but shine with laughter

rare sight
a touch of happiness

Rapture

Tender hands
and loving eyes
kisses on the temple,

so soft

You have given me wings,
my darling
with you I feel so light

I can finally fly

A bard's torment

Line after line
with no meaning
fancy words forming empty phrases

the dark blue ink
staining my fingertips
takes on a purple hue

nails bitten
down to the roots
and ripped away

if I was pale yesterday
then today I am dying
and my eyes alight with a manic glow

of knowing too many truths

An ocean beckons

She journeyed to a cliff
facing the sea
where the white foams crashed down
upon the rocky shores
creating music only she could hear

A young girl clad in white
barefoot and wide-eyed with wonder
she danced in joy of living
chased the rays of the sun
playing in her flaxen hair

Stayed until nightfall
singing out her heart
and never knew any better
until the creeping darkness
took her away with the waves

Untitled

Green, the misty meadow
I will no longer travel these paths
drowning in you

now swept away
by a torrent of emotions
melancholy, resignation, serenity

I cry these tears
for a beauty that was, that is no more
destined to fade to a simple memory

yet my love
will never die
and we walk forward

together

Lilting Lavender

Learn,
lovelorn lady

letters lie

lonely, longing
lady Luck

Laugh lowly
lunatic lover

lightning-like lust
leaves legs lazy

Lean lightly
little lady

list lies loudly

Peter Pan syndrome

Hurried glance to the mirror
glimpse lifeless brown eyes
hollow, frail cheeks

stroking a long finger
along the surface
dipping a tired head
to rest on cool glass

it's a dreadful day
fastening the belt
around a far too skinny waist
a girl snuffs out the flame
before it's too late

Untitled

Wounds,
deep wounds from the stars
to reach out a hand
for Venus, Jupiter,
Andromeda

only come up with
naught but scars
This is how you chase
a dream;
by stumbling time and again

2006-05-26 [Blasphemy]: Welcome to solemn lines friend

2006-05-26 [Linderel]: Thank you.

2006-05-27 [Art Guy]: I have now read your work, I enjoyed your verse stylings of Archaic melodies, your stanzas of Portrait of a muse they seemed to flow nicely and the stanzas are well organized, I liked the diction of Entity, many mythological references

2006-05-27 [Blasphemy]: I agree

2006-06-17 [Blasphemy]: Hmm...you Peter Pan poem is interesting, but I have a hard time telling what the syndrome is, things like emptyness, despression, loneinliness, anaerexia, all come to mind

2006-06-17 [Linderel]: Peter Pan syndrome... Think, what did Peter Pan not want to become? An adult. I suffered from this very 'syndrome' for a long time. In the poem I just went into extremes while depicting the ways it manifests itself.

2006-06-19 [Blasphemy]: yes, it seems to speak a universal truth, sucess is but the absence of repeated failures, all good things come with time and effort, hehe
