Known For:
Silathàr is an
ancient realm and it is known for its vast libraries, its observatories, its wine, its hot springs and the natural magic that infuses the whole mountain complex.
General Geography:
The realm of Silathàr is nestled into the eastern portion of the
Ashìn Mountains, and separated from the dwarven realm of
Nor by the
River Yvēn. To the south, in their foothills, is the great lake Aetenda that is wreathed in rich forests. Beyond that are a short space of plains, then the horizon is lost in the vast, desertic lands to the south. To the north there is the
Lamàre Sea and to the east lies the Lorendàr River beyond which spreads the elven realm of
Sylvànēn.
Even in the peaks of the Ashin Mountains, Silathàr is rarely truly cold. Even in the depths of winter, the stone itself seems to possess a magical capability which warms the interior halls and ensures that the Rei’Lamys don’t end up grounded due to the inevitable snow fall. It is windy, but the wind is not dry because it blows from the Lamàre Sea.
Cities/Population:
Its architecture is formidable and ancient. Silathàr is a collection of cities in the mountains; marble structures that are open to the sky, with great, arching ceilings that have breathtaking paintings and stone work. It must have taken ages and many artists to create such a haven, and that it did. Magic, long forgotten, had crafted these halls and every aspect of the realm of Silathàr is as beautiful and mysterious as the Angels that once lived there.
There are libraries, great, glass topped chambers, observatories, and plateauxs with beautiful marble floors and intricate designs depicting stars and their movements through the heavens.
Fàhlendanēn (meaning
Star Child) is the capital city in which reside the Lord and Lady of Silathàr.
Religion:
Silathàr is home of
Còhlen’Toniēn, the
Temple of the Stars. This is where the Rei’Lamys (and all others of that religion) gather to pay homage to the stars and to study their timeless mysteries. It is also the home of the High Priestess of the
Fàhlenv’en;
Lavariëll.
Defenses/Armed Forces:
Their defense systems are made up of: Tunnels within the mountains that could sustain them for long periods of time should the mountain come under attack; magical beacons; and hidden watchtowers in the peaks as well as the forest bellow.
They do not rely simply on defensive mechanisms for their survival, however. They do have an armed force of Rei’Lamys trained with a bow as well staffs and shortswords. Their main weapon is a bow, so that they may fire from aloft.
Status:
The realm of the winged people is at peace. Though they hold grudges for generations (and do so with their neighbours, the dwarves), but that does not stop their commerce or their peace treaty. They are a race taken with study, but not solitude. Rei’Lamys are mobile (since they can fly) so they do get around. It wouldn’t be surprising to find a Rei’Lamys about this court or that across all of Nyan. Intrigue is their hobby.
