Stargate Info

Here you will find information on all kinds of things that will be used, met, etc. If you dont know how something works, or what something is, this is the best place to look. Think of it as a very small ecyclopedia.

*New thing

Gemini Galaxy

Was recently discovered located between the Taurus, Orion, and Gemini constellations. It is a relatively small galaxy with several hundred thousand planets, most inhabited by some sort of alien or human race, though most are previously unknown and un-encountered races.

Base is set up on Q4X-212 aka Discuri, a predominately Spartan-esque civilization who's origins derive from the ancient Greeks of Earth. The Discuri are the the sons of Zuse, born to Hellen after he seduced her in the form of a swan. Legend states that the male offspring; Castor and Pollux, where granted alternate immortality, one lived among the gods and the other among the dead. Stargate intelligence suggest that the two may have once been Goa'uld System Lords who shared reign over the planets of the Gemini constellation. However they don't appear to be showing much activity in recent centuries and if located are to be regarded as a minor threat.

The Stargate

The stargate operated by the U.S. Air Force's Stargate Command (SGC) at Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center near Colorado Springs, Colo., is one of a vast number of wormhole-generating "doors" that allow for near-instantaneous intergalactic travel.

Created millions of years ago by the Ancients, one of the earliest living beings in the universe, they are scattered throughout planets, with each stargate bearing a unique address, similar to a telephone number.

Each is a monumental, roughly circular structure atop a base. The operating portion is composed of giant, moveable inner and outer dials, within which a wormhole entrance appears. Some stargates have an iris that opens and closes over the wormhole entrance. This iris, when closed, rests less than 10 micrometers from the "event horizon" (the two-dimensional energy field forming the passageway to the generated wormhole). This leaves essentially no physical space through which an unwanted object or visitor can materialize.

Alien Races

The Asgard - Pictures & more info
Earth's closest offworld allies. Native to the planet Cimmeria, these benevolent, wizened-looking "gray aliens" prefer to appear to humans as hologrammatic images of legendary Norse gods. The Asgardian supreme commander is Thor. None inhabit any of the planets in the Gemini galaxy.

The Goa'uld - Pictures & more info
A despotic conquering race, and SG-1's greatest nemesis. Parasitic, snakelike creatures who rule the planet Chulak, the Goa'uld ruthlessly collect lifeforms from around the galaxy for use as host bodies. They are politically organized around a structure of feudal "system lords." A Goa'uld rebel group, the Tok'ra, inhabits only willing hosts. Most were driven out or killed, but there may yet be a few somewhere in the Gemini galaxy.

The Tok'ra - Pictures & more info
From the same race as the Goa'uld, the Tok'ra only take on voluntary hosts. They're entire race is a resistance towards the evils of the Goa'uld. There are many scattered throughout the Gemini galaxy, though no one can say where, since they are constantly hiding from their brethren.

Jaffa - Pictures & more info
The Jaffa race has a symbiotic relationship with the Goa'uld in that they carry infant Goa'uld symbiotes in pouches in their bellies. This larval symbiote guarantees its host immunity to diseases. For this reason, Jaffa live to be very old. Several planets in the Gemini system are inhabited by them.

The Replicators - Pictures & more info
Artificial organisms that take the form of small metallic bugs, they kill and rapidly replicate, overwhelming planetary life and mechanisms. Later versions of the species developed the ability to mimic humanoid lifeforms. They have not infiltrated the Gemini galaxy and are not playable by anyone other than a mod.

The Unas - A race named by the Goa'uld that translates to 'the first ones' or rather, the original hosts for the Goa'uld before Ra discovered the Tau'ri on Earth. Unas are reptilian in nature, possessing regenerative abilities that a Goa'uld symbiote can enhance. Unas are an exceptionally tough and hardy species, and much stronger than humans. A Goa'uld possessed Unas is even more powerful, with exceptional regeneration abilities that allow them to survive and recover from multiple bullet wounds even without the aid of a sarcophagus and are able to speak English with little to no instruction.

The Wraith - Pictures & more info
Half human half bug, these nasty beings feed on humans by sucking the life from them through their hands. They have advanced weapons and ships and have control over most of the Pegasus galaxy and spread the fear of their arrival throughout every planet. They have not currently infiltrated the Gemini galaxy, but a few are scattered on some of the planets

*Taa'Shirin "Shifters"
Shape shifters. They pop up here and there, and are not always dangerous. The loners tend to be fairly civil, taking what they need to survive and not much more, but the more political Shifters tend to stay in large groups and are very dangerous. They tend to merge into crowds, taking on the form of innocent bystanders, and open fire when least expected, then dissapear again. When in their natural form they have white skin and pink eyes like an albino with long slightly curved horns on either side of their head, a tail, and have fanged teeth. They have no external ears, and are completely bald.

Devices

Dial Home Device (DHD)
Device built by the Ancients to control the stargate. A DHD typically accompanies each stargate, and bears a number of buttons labeled with symbolic renderings of constellations. A traveler "dials" the stargate by depressing a set of seven symbols -- an address -- that instructs the local 'gate to connect a wormhole to another specific 'gate.

Zero-Point Module
An Ancient power source. Each ZPM generates its enormous power by harnessing vacuum energy derived from a self-contained region of subspace/time.

Zatn'kitel (Zat) Energy Pistols
SG-1 is equipped with Goa'uld Zatn'kitel energy pistols, commonly called by Col. O'Neill's own terminology, zats. One shot will stun a victim unconscious; a second shot applied within half an hour will kill; a third immediately applied in succession will vaporize the target.

Jaffa Staff Weapon
A long, ornate pole with Egyptian motifs. Carried by the Goa'uld Jaffa guard, this weapon fires powerful energy blasts that can penetrate metal. A direct hit will kill. Wounds are immediately cauterized by the heat of the blast, causing great pain and sometimes bleeding beneath the skin.

Transport Rings
Transport rings, when in position, transmit all matter within their circular formation to another pair of rings at a different location, utilizing a conduit of bright energy. If there is a person or object on the receiving end, the rings can exchange the two simultaneously.
