Swallowed Foreign Bodies

1. Rounded objects such as marbles, buttons, silver dollars, golf balls, and duckpin bowling balls usually pass right through the intestinal tract. Simply regard the stool at a safe distance through binoculars every day until you have noted the passing of the object.

2. Oddly shaped objects such as open safety pins, nails, razor blades, and certain English hard candies may cause trouble, but usually not. Follow procedure for rounded objects unless victim stops breathing. If victim stops breathing, it means he/she is dead. Call undertaker.

3. Do not force-feed laxatives to the victim.

4. Do not turn victim upside down and shake him/her.

5. Do not attempt an ameture tracheotomy on the victim.

6. Try not to make the victim feel like a jerk.
