Angels and Demons
By Dan Brown, review by [Erestor]
When people think of
Dan Brown they think of the amazing Da Vinci Code however this book has just as much of a story line and the same amazing style that Brown uses in his world nominate prequel. Angel and Demons is the prequel to Da Vinci Code and keeps the main character of Professor Robert Langdon and well travelled symbology expert who teaches at Harlem school when he's not saving the world. I also thought this book would be appropriate to review this book as it is about the Vatican and the progress of conclave where a new cardinal is elected Pope. In the recent conditions this could give you an insight into both the Vatican and the election.
You are brought straight into the tail at Langdon place of residence when he had an eerie call from somewhere in Sweden. After a lot of persuasion Langdon leaves for the destination of the call and once there he faces a shocking dilemma. A newly found piece of scientific matter has been found that is capable of blowing up anything in a mile radius. This could be deadly in most areas, especially when he and his young scientist friend Vittoria, found that it has been placed into the Vatican.
This story also informs you of the Illuminati and brotherhood of anti-Catholic scientists. You also get knowledge of their past, customs, and unique brands. This book gives you a lot of insight in to the past of the Vatican and the constant war between the two brotherhoods. Various artist's and writer's histories are also uncovered by this tale, people such as the great scientist Galileo - and excellent sculptors that created the elaborate statues in churches in Rome and Vatican City.
This book is highly detailed and it obvious that a lot of research has being put into this masterpiece which is equally as good as its prequel. This book has constant twists and interesting plots that never get boring. I loved the fact that you got so much information about so many places. When reading the novel you almost feel like you shouldn't know so much about the past and brotherhoods especially one who has not been known for a long, long time.
In conclusion I thought this was an exciting and extremely brilliant buy and a much worth buying book. I would tell anybody to read this book as I enjoyed it so much. This book is suitable for any age, I would recommend around 13+ as it is a complex book and the plot is quite hard to follow sometimes and there is a lot of violence in it and a lot of brandings. A must read book which would be enjoyed by most.
