THE GNOME IN THE TREE TRUNK BESIDE MY HOUSE

Fernando! for that was what we called him, is a Gnome with distinctive character. He does everything diffrent from anyother person and elf. He lives in a tree trunk some few meters away from my house. he is about 3ft tall and bulgy in size. His eyes are as flat as a sauce pan with bony fingers and toes.
  He has a particular kind of life that makes him diffrent from other Gnomes, Elfs and fairies. He sleeps when ever yother person is awake and moves around in the night when the world is asleep. He is hardly seen by his neighbours because when there are awake in the day time, he will be asleep, only the night crawlers do have the chance of seeinng him.
  What baffles me most about Fernando, is his secret life. I call it his secret life because it can only be noticed if you come close to him or keep a close watch at him. He comes out only at night but yet he feeds on nothing else but ants, bugs and ladybirds. I wonder how he is able to see such little creatures at night without a light because he never uses candles or lamps. He prefers the dark that is why he sleeps at day time to wake at night. Though he eats this little creatures, he is the fatest of all people living in the neighbourhood. He never tills nor toils the ground but he is sure of all year round because the little creatures are always there. He never drinks water but digs out a certain tuber from the ground which he crushes and squeezes to produce juice which he drinks after every meal and when he is thirsty. I once picked up the chaffs of this tuber one morning when I woke up I thought I should test it and see what it taste like. To my greatest suprise, the stuff had the most bitter taste I had ever tested in my life but I wonder how he is able to drink it daily.
  I once asked him if I could come into his house and have a chat with him and he sulkingly agreed and invited me to his tree trunk house. His tree trunk house was the the most fascinating scene I had ever seen. I had to go in the afternoon so that I will be able to the interior of the house because be it night or day he never had light in his house. His floor was covered with rug made of fine plated white dove feathers that gave the house a facsinating look. His tables and chairs were made of polished iroko wood and were shinig black. He had a monalisa potrait at the right end of his sitting room and some other art jobs which look very expensive. When I left the sitting room to his bedroom, I saw the greatest wonder of my life. No one ever ever knew that Fernando had a family, because he was the only person who was always seen coming out of the tree house but when I went to the rtoom, I found out that Fernando had a family of 23 and the last his wife just gave birth to were quadruplets.
  What a devastating life that he lives, you will never expect so much from Fernando not untill you go into the tree trunk by the side of my house.
