I cannot imagine a world in which there is no wind beneath my wings, I cannot imagine life in a cage. Slavery is the worst kind of punishment, and thralldom is the worst kind of slavery.
Reflections, Kiwidinok Ther'mara

On the time of the war of Ly'mahs the armies of the Nai'ithar launched an onslaught against the armies of the elder races. When the army of wind was defeated by the Exhorian army on the former Lone Woods near Asfeltas Mountains (the region now known as the Soulless or Fell Woods) the people of wind retreated to the safety oh Yath'al. However, as wind they were, the air Nai'ithar were inconsistent and became sick of the waiting while the armies of Ovidius and the elders marched upon all of Ki'Afisal continent. Under Lord Eil'ian, the king of breeze, the Wind Nai'ithar held a great council, it was decided that the king and half the wind folk would flee across the sea on the Wind People's air ships, to find new lands were they could roam free. Eil'ian and his warriors flew for months on the currents of the high seas, unaware of their escape from Thadre's betrayal they arrived at Pearl continent. The Nai'ithar established in Pearl, as the continent was covered by a thin layer of water the Nai'ithar receded to Rahda hills on the south, the only part of the continent above water. However they soon found out that pearl was already inhabited.

As their capitol city of Ther'alla came under attack by the remnants of the Mefolk who had been defeated by the army of Water back in Ki'Afisal continent. Although the Merfolk were weak, the Wind People were even weaker. Ther'alla soon fell under the onslaught of the Merfolk. And the Wind People were forced to abandon the ruins of their small city. On the battle, Lord Ther'alla was captured and tortured by the Merfolk, were he is said to have met his end. On the southernmost sector of Rhada, the Nai'ithar regrouped and assessed their losses. A young general and one of the only noble's that survived soon ascended to power amongst the few battered refugees. Migisi Ther'mara or “The eagle sky priest” decreed that they should rebuild the airships and push further west to find new lands to settle.

Soon the few surviving Nai'ithar embarked in a journey across the pearl ocean once again. This time, they arrived in a continent which they called Kosate; they settled at the north of Kosate in the territory they called the Mist Jungle. In this jungle inhabited great birds called the hawks, much like the clans of Ash'yth in Rysallis. The Wind Nai'ithar befriended these beasts and soon began to change, they became akin with the creatures and they were quick to forget Ki'Afisal and their Nai'ithar ancestry as they adopted a new name, the Etle'yth, the Hauken, surprisingly enough their life spans did not shorten, and they remained as long lived as the Nai'ithar. For a time the hauken had peace, they rebuilt Ther'mara as a city amongst the misty clouds of Kosate's Jungle. And for a time there was peace in Hauken lands. They devised machines of magic and wind to disguise their city amongst the clouds and expanded through the jungles of Kosate. The banner of the white wing of Ther'mara soon sought to colonize the rest of the continent.

However mighty, the hauken were afraid of the Black Mountains of Niphodes, to the south. It was said that anyone who dared approach the mountains became lost forever in their darkness. Soon the hauken found that their settlements in Niphodes suddenly appeared deserted and their patrols and explorers vanished when flying over the mountain trails. Soon King Ther'mara sent his most trusted general, his own brother, young Kiwidinok Ther'mara and his Army of Avengers flew to Niphodes, following the track of abandoned hauken settlements they arrived at a black city, and there they were greeted by the Niphoreans. They were taken into the city of Akhjioatl and treated like important guests. That was the last that was known of them. King Ther'mara, consternated by his brother's disappearance decided not to send anymore emissaries to Niphodes. Several years passed and one day, lord Kiwidinok returned, pale and hollowed by terrible visions he described to his brother the atrocities of the vile Niphoreans. They used their psionic magics to enthrall hauken, making them work as slaves and suppressing their wills. For the hauken, who valued freedom above all things, this slavery was a terrible punishment and a fell insult. The king's wrath was great. He gathered to himself all of the hauken avengers and wind weavers and stormed Akhjioatl, the city fell within the hour; the terrible winds caused by the hauken onslaught tore niphorean buildings from the ground itself. However the fell creatures were far from defeated and soon launched their own offensive. 10 thousand years passed of endless war. Both Niphodes and Kosate suffered greatly.

However the worst trial for Kosate still waits, as both king and General Ther'mara fell in battle. As the king's son Prince Sanuye Ther'mara is considered to be inept, focusing all his efforts in his folly love for his own cousin, young Misae Ther'mara, the 16 year old (extremely young considering the 15 000 year lifespan of the hauken) late general Kiwidinok's daughter who is said to be the most beautiful daughter of Nai'ithar along with Empress Claudia of Caessen. Meanwhile the hauken population looks up to Lady Misae themselves to take power from her delirious cousin. The young girl finds herself at a dangerous crossroad since the Niphoreans push the line of the leaderless hauken back and a revolution brews north of Kosate.

Appearance:
The Hauken are very similar to the humans. They all possess long, black hair and black or blue eyes. However, they have 2 pairs of wings in their backs. 2 large wings which they use for support while flying and a smaller pair for steering. Their wings can range in colours as those of birds, the most usual being eagle or hawk like brownish tones.

Hauken Culture:
The Hauken are a warrior race who strongly believe in the concept of honour and retribution. The highest ideal of the Hauken culture is freedom, they have a profound hatred for the very concept of slavery, they are also slightly claustrophobic. Hauken rarely live past 500 years, even though they've been known to live 15000 years, after 500 years they reach the mental development of an old man, they grow extremely weary of the world, and being such freedom loving individuals, they feel trapped in Lemire, they can arrange to die as Planetarii do, returning to the ancestral planes of air. Unlike Planetarii, however, Hauken will enter a physical old age lasting 10000 years after their first 5000 years of age, they grow weaker and weaker, and by the time they turn 8000 they can only perform physical activities in the same proficiency of an 80 year old human.

2006-06-05 [FINAL FANTASY 13 TRAILER IS OUT!my page]: um do you need to have two sets of wings?

2006-07-22 [Duredhel]: Yup, the second set of wings has the same function the tail does on birds, they're necessary to steer. Oh, figured I'd say this XD, in case NO ONE has noticed :P cuz I think NO ONE has noticed, Hauken are supposed to be very much like the native american empires, Inca, Maya, Aztec and North American Indians.

2006-07-22 [Veltzeh]: I noticed! :D

2007-05-02 [Lepellier]: I did too! But it's a little too late now.
