Things to know before submitting

Art Corner Rules

There are a few rules will have to set along with the postings, to avoid any hassles -

1.No posting other people's work -- your work ONLY. If you find someone you think should be on this page, TELL THEM, do not post their pics for them.

2. Your pic must be featured in your house or on a Long-term wiki page. This section is dedicated to Elftowners, so please, no outside works -- we have a whole other section for that (see Herald Review Submission).

3. Please post the image on the Art Corner page along with your username and where the pic can be found.

Regulations and what to expect

--Each month The Town Herald assigns a new theme for that month - as soon as we, the Herald crew, find out this theme, the Art corner team will update the wiki and post the next theme.

--ANY & EVERY picture submitted that follows the theme and rules will automatically be accepted to be featured in that month's Herald issue in the Art Corner section. This is not a contest, everyone here is a winner.

--Each month once the deadline is met, the pictures will be removed and stored in a private wiki for Herald crew only - the pics will be reviewed by the Art Corner Team, and accepted or rejected. If you are an honest artist, and follow the rules, then there is no reason a pic will be rejected - The following is a list of what qualifies a pic to be rejected, and ONLY the following ::

-1- The pic is not the original work of the person who submits it; stolen.

-2- The picture is not featured within Elftown in the entrants House or a long-term wiki. (the art corner wiki doesn't count)

-3- The picture does not follow the theme, or the theme is not obvious in the picture, The Art Corner crew will decide what follows the theme.

If you submit a pic, and it is not featured in a long term wiki, please keep it up in your house until the deadline. If your work is not found where you specified when we review the pieces, it will not be featured in the Art Corner BUT that does not mean it cannot be featured in the Herald.
The Herald hosts a separate wiki for work, both art and written, to be reviewed, critiqued and/or featured in the Herald. You can submit links from ANYWHERE on the web there, and are more than welcome to submit your pic there if it doesn't make it into the Art Corner -- the link is Herald Review Submission.

If you feel that your picture fits the theme, but aren't sure if it's completely obvious, you are more than welcome to leave a note explaining why you feel it fits the theme. Do not leave us a description of the pic - we can see it just fine, we don't need you to tell us what it is, BUT if you would like to add a description about the story or origin of the pic, that is more than welcome.

Here is an example of what we mean:

March's theme was Celtic/ Irish/St. Patty's day.
Say you enter a pic of one of a beautiful Elf -- it's fantastical, but the Celtic / Irish theme isn't obvious.
Do not tell us "This is a pic of an Elf, she's tall and beautiful...she has red hair" We can see all that from the pic just fine, we don't need to read it - plus it doesn't help clear up why it fits the theme or not.

A posting saying something like "I thought this fit the Celtic/Irish theme because she is in traditional Celtic attire, and she has the stereotypical Irish features of fair freckled skin, and wild red hair" is perfect, and completely clears up any doubts about the theme.

You could also give a quick sum up of your inspiration, like "This is a pic of one of the Children of the Tuatha da Daanan - I thought it fit because it came from olde Irish legends".

--If the same pic is repeatedly submitted month after month, with absolutely no link to the theme, that specific pic will be banned from being submitted in the future. If we tell you a pic is no longer able to be submitted, and you resubmit it anyway, You will be banned from submitting any more work for that month. A wiki will eventually be set up for banned works and users.

--If the same pic is submitted and accepted for 3 themes, that pic will be "retired", and unable to be re-entered for another theme. A wiki will eventually be set up for retired works.

--If a person pics accepted for 2 or more themes/months, they will then be awarded an 'Art Corner Eldar' badge for their house bio.

--If a person has pics accepted for 5 or more themes/months, they will be awarded an 'Art Corner Great Eldar' badge for their house bio.

--If a person's pics are rejected from 5 or more themes, that person will not be able to submit work for the following theme.

--If a person is found to have submitted stolen work, that person will be permanently banned from submitting any more works, and will be reported to the guards.

Important Note: We, by no means, tolerate any sort of disrespect or drama. If anyone is badmouthing people, being disrespectful or causing trouble on the wiki, they will be added to our banned list. If we find out that anyone from the wiki has badmouthed, or spread rumours about the Wiki, it's members or The Town Herald, that person will be added to our banned list. Any person on our banned list will have their entries & comments deleted. This is meant to be a happy, fun place where people can come to share and support each other, and we are set on keeping it that way.

2004-07-04 [HiddenFire]: I'm just posting this comment to bring attention to this page just in case no one realizes the knoted bold tags.

2004-07-04 [Kaimee]: oh yes! thanks, id intended to fix them up when i finished doing it at the poetry corner and forgot! thankyou!

2004-07-07 [HiddenFire]: you're welcome! ^_^

2008-10-18 [pegasus1000]: you should really remove the Herald Review Submission (in the Regulations and what to expect part of the page) since it is closed.

2008-10-19 [Mordigen]: i will revise it, though i've been trying to figure what to replace it with though, as if people do not want to submit something for a specific theme, We still want to encourage them to submit it as a featured piece, or perhaps something that could compliment another article or section of the herald....so I've been putting it off for a bit. I guess I could simply say they can contact me?
