Valla Archaeology Excavation
Valla is a late iron-age, viking-age archaeology excavation right beside Linköping university. These are photos from the presentation Fredrik Samuelsson held for the interested public about the excavation.

They are doing this excavation now because an athletics field will be build here and they have to document it before it gets destroyed.

Time to move into the dirt!
Look! It's a settlement with houses and everything... You have to look very close under the soil to see it though.
Everything they have found is marked with poles or small yellow things because after a few minutes in the air everything looks just like dirt.
As you clearly can see (if you have eyes with x-ray microscope) this is some sort of storage house. Grain and stuff have been found there.
This is a bigger 3-ship size house. It's strangely of a type common to early iron age and not late. Right now it's unknown if it's because they built an older type or if that house is much older than the rest.
Another smaller house.
The fields over there were small fields that probably were used for vegetables and such.
Markings of things that might be of interest.
For example A6569...
They quite often have to use machines as they only have 2 weeks for this dig.
What might be a fire-hole and a pole. Hard to be sure. The pole is the darker thing to the right of Fredrik's shadow that is marked with an outline.
Teeth
Bones.
A stone with some markings on it. Probably nothing important.
Archaeologists working.

That is a weight for a loom.
Something for a distaff, I think.
Pottery with holes through it like a strainer. What it was used for is unknown. But I guess one can use a pot with small holes in it for many things.

And this is actually a key.
Cross, Thor's hammer or something.
Arrow head.
A strange horn with a hole drilled through it for an unknown reason.
An English coin from about 1024, if I remember correctly.
Outside of the Origo building they have planted a wide range of different apple trees.
