Wandering in the Netherlands

(Part of the Hitchhiker's guide of the Elftowners)

The Netherlands.
A small country that is mainly famous for its controversial opinion regarding softdrugs :) But we have more to offer, like a great variety in nature.

Current moderator's hikes in the Netherlands...:

A typical 'spreng', a brook created by man. There are many of these in the Veluwe region. In the past they were used for watermills, for the fabrication of paper, and for the many laundries you can find here. The water is very clean ground water, so a lot of unique plants grow near or even in the water.

A sand drift. In ancient times, sods of heath were used to make cabins, and sheep grazed the heath. What was left behind was sand. Entire villages have been buried under the sand, they are being exposed today by archeologists.

Site under construction, more pictures to come.
