An easy guide on how to use the Elftown Forums
This is supposed to be a very easy explanation on how to use the forums. This guide is meant for people who like pictures instead of lots of text. This little guide only explains the very basics of forum-using. If you wonder what all the other buttons are about read

I. Three ways of going to the forums:
1. will lead you to the list of forums of which you are a member.
2. will lead you to the next posting.
3. will lead you to a reply to your own posting.
II. What's the date again?
The most important things on a forum posting (next to its content of course) are the name of the poster and the date when it is posted.
Allthough it can be interesting to revive an ancient posting, it might seem silly to reply to a posting that isn't relevant anymore or start a dialogue with someone who hasn't been seen the last 458 days.
III.Posting a reply.
Right below every posting you have the opportunity to reply to it. When you do this, the original poster will get notified of your reply.
1. Write text here.
2. Then send in reply
or
3. If you find your posting doesn't quite belong in that forum , use the scrollbar and chose another forum before sending in your reply. In most cases this is used to keep random chatter and other non relevant postings where it belongs: in the junk forum.
You can also "answer privatly", this will send your reply in a private message to the one you're replying to. No one but this person will be able to read it.
IV. Starting a new thread
If you have something to say and want to start a new thread, use this one:
V. Avoid common mistakes
Always look at the date and to whom you're replying. Elftown forums are more personal than the ones you're probably used to.
Don't just read the topic. When you reply to a posting you reply to that particular posting and not to the general thread. Threads have a way to wander of and you will find that in the end the conversation will have nothing to do with the original topic anymore. Also keep in mind that the member to whom you're replying will get notified of your reply.
