Welcome to the Elftown Dictionary. This dictionary will serve as a guide to all those unusual words and so forth that we Elftowners use to amuse and annoy. Please add your word(s, phrase, or quote under the proper letter(s), along with the meaning. Just keep in mind that the moderators of this wiki reserve the right to change your definition (if needed) to suit
their own liking. If you are not sure how to use this editing system drop your word and its meaning in the comment box. And please, keep the profanity to a minimum and no explicit sexual references. Profanity is allowed but, only if the Librarian (that'd be me) thinks it's funny!
Oh yes! I almost forgot. The things you add do not have to be humorous made-up words. You may also add words like Patroller, Inspector, and more official terms used in Elftown if you wish. It would be nice, however if you could throw in a little clean humor when describing official Elftown business!

wonkity (WONK-it-tee)
Origin: Uttered by a malfunctioning servo-droid in Harry Harrison's classic SF satire, Bill, the Galactic Hero (1965)
(1.) adjective
Not merely "wonky", but really REALLY messed up. This generally describes something mechanical or computer-related that's so FUBAR'ed, so "on the fritz" that it's downright malfunctioning. Meant to be used in a humorous context.
"My wonkity computer has a Javascript problem that won't let me view Youtube flash-player videos on Youtube . . . and yet I can view these same Youtube flash videos anyhow, through a random Google video-search? What's up with that?!?!?"
(2.) adverb
Same as previous definition, but applied to a verb rather than a noun.
"AOL made my computer crash hard, and then after system recovery it worked---but the computer was acting so freakin' wonkity the compter technician swore under his breath, and then quickly convinced me to get a more up-to-date computer."
(3.) interjection
The silly random utterance of a malfunctioning computer or robot, from a cartoon or a B-movie.
"Malfunction! Malfunction! Blip-Blap WONKITY!"

::WONKITY-BLERGG:: (WONK-it-tee BLERGG)
Origin: [Paul Doyle]
(1.) interjection (by far the most common usage)
Similar to definition #3 of wonkity but much more common, simply because it's the intentionally silly sound made by a malfunctioning B-movie/cartoon robot or computer. At this point it's best to put the thing out of its misery. Someone get the shotgun or laser cannon, already!
"Twiki told Captain Rogers, 'Bidi-bidi-bidi---hey Buck, when are you going to get hot and heavy with that Wilma Deering babe? Are you a real man, or what?'
Then Buck Rogers judo-kicked Twiki across the room. 'Can't you see I have a crush on Hawk, you little FREAK?'
Twiki slowly rose up, sparks and arcing live blue electricity melting what few circuits remained undamaged by the sheer force of Buck's kick. "Bidi-bidi-bidi---bidi-bidi-bidi---malfunctionmalfunctionmalfunction::WONKITY-BLERGG::
Buck Rogers drew his laser blaster and promptly put Twiki out of existence."
(2.) adjective (rare)
Similar to "wonkity" but even worse. Rarely used because saying stuff like "My ::WONKITY-BLERGG:: computer shuts off whenever I use AOL products" makes it sound like you're an incompetent user, more than anything else.
(3.) adverb (rare)
See definition #2. "My computer's going ::WONKITY-BLERGG::" reeks of ignorance on the user's part. Therefore, it is rarely used in this context.
