I just have a question about page 23. What's that big gray thing behind Gareth and the other man. It looks like stone maybe. It just really stuck out and distracted me from the story for a second.

It's a stone chimney, but I should have toned it like the one in the last panel. The gradient doesn't look good at all.

2009-02-10 [stuffAEAmade]: Oh, I've done the same thing. I've draw characters holding something in their right hand in one panel and suddenly it was in their left the next panel.

2009-02-11 [Elwyne]: Yeah, I guess it happens to all artists at some time or other. (laughs) Sometimes we get too close to the pictures and the small details to see the bigger picture.

2009-02-11 [stuffAEAmade]: So far I've managed to catch most of those errors before inking. Waiting a day or two after sketching really helps.

2009-02-12 [Elwyne]: Well, I looked over them and I didn't really see anything I could pinpoint as wrong or off at all. There is something a little odd, but I think that it's just because I don't know what that object in the background is supposed to be. It looks like a lumpy patchwork quilt or something hanging on the wall...

2009-02-12 [Elwyne]: It could be, although the shape doesn't look quite right if that's what it is... let me see, I'm talking about the background in the picture with the two men saying. "It's been goin' on for a month now. Makes 'em brawl over nothin. Man was killed last week." and "They know what's causin' the damage?" That one.

2009-02-12 [stuffAEAmade]: Yeah, that is supposed to be a chimney. It opens into the other room in the healer's cabin. I was going for a riverstone look. Maybe smaller stones?

2009-02-12 [Elwyne]: It's not the size of the stones, it's more the overall shape. It sorta puts me in the mind of a heavy quilt hanging from a hook just above where the top of the picture frame is... it could just be me, so you might want to get someone elses opinion. But it might be the way that it looks like it's narrowing at both the top and the bottom and it suggests a continuation instead of looking like it's going more up and down. If you made it look a bit flatter toward the bottom and top?
