Girl: Do I ever cross your mind?
Boy: No
Girl: Do you like me?
Boy: Not really
Girl: Do you want me?
Boy: No
Girl: Would you cry if I left?
Boy: No
Girl: Would you live for me?
Boy: No
Girl: Would you do anything for me?
Boy: No way
Girl: What would you choose: your life..or me?
Boy: My life

The girl runs away in shock and pain and the boy runs after her and says...
The reason you never cross my mind is because you're always on my mind. The reason why I don't like you is because I love you. The reason I don't want you is because I need you. The reason I wouldn't cry if you left is because I would die if you left. The reason I wouldn't live for you is because I would die for you. The reason why I'm not willing to do anything for you is because I would do everything for you. The reason I chose my life is because you ARE my life

2006-07-10 [Kiddalee]: And I am to expect what from a guy?

2006-07-10 [Stray Kitty]: Yes, I thought it was cute a first, in the aww how sweet. But after a while you realize how cruel that was. I think this was used in a Harry/Draco fanfic.

2006-07-10 [Kiddalee]: Some of the less extreme questions aren't so bad. Still, I think this whole thing would be better written if she asked the more realistic things last instead of first. However, this is just bad dialogue. It's not conversational at all.

2006-07-11 [Stray Kitty]: Yeah. I can't see this happening, except in a (bad) fanfic.

2006-07-11 [Kiddalee]: The Harry Potter series does use a good deal of romanticism in making its characters larger than life, though.

2006-07-11 [Stray Kitty]:

Spoilers for 3rd Harry Potter book and on ahead

How so? What I noticed is that the Slytherins are all of one or two types. Big and stupid or good looking. And you never hear much about the Hufflepuffs or Ravenclaws.

2006-07-11 [Kiddalee]: Well, look at Harry. At 16 years old, he's already such a leader that he can get away with playing mind tricks on his quiddich team to help them win. And the appearance of the top British pure blood families are generally distinct. They all have extremely beautiful, thin faces, and long, thin, smooth hair. Then you compare Narcissa and Bellatrix: sister day and sister night. Harry's relationship with his mentor Dumbledore is also very classical.

2006-07-11 [Stray Kitty]: Good point. It does begin to get a bit cliched. I want to know why Peter went over to the Dark side.

2006-07-11 [Kiddalee]: Actually, I like the classicism, for the most part. There are just certain times when Harry gets annoyingly cool in Book 6. As for Peter Pettigrew, I think he went over because he always wanted to be someone's lackey, and the jerks from Gryffindor stopped being jerks after they graduated.

2006-07-11 [Kiddalee]: By the way, should we be worried about giving spoilers here? Maybe you should delete this conversation once it's over.

2006-07-11 [Stray Kitty]: There's no really spoilers. We learned that Peter went over to the Dark side in book 3. And I have been known to give stuff away. We had to make character sharts for And Then THere Were None. I really enjoyed writing DEAD in inch big letters every time someone died. And I read a head. But if you want I'll put up a spoiler warning.

2006-07-15 [Kiddalee]: Thanks.
