Elftown titles and orders
Description:
You pull the large, brass ring on the aged oak and iron door and slowly creep into this home.
The first thing you notice is the smell. The sent of aged parchment, sage and dust assault your nose. You wonder if anyone still lives here.
You try to look at the walls but have a hard time as the only light is coming from dim, or dying, sparse torches mounted on rusted holders. Its enough light to tell that the barren, stone walls have held nothing but the torches for centuries.
Looking around further you see a large tome open in a corner of the room. Its pages look as though its been perused recently but there seems to be no one here.
Uneasy you inch forward from the door and hear it , ominously creek shut.
"come in further" You hear a disembodied voice request.
"please, come. sit" The mellow, gentle baritone voice almost makes it impossible to resist. You find one of two rather old chairs and sit down...nervously...but you sit anyway.
The other chair is facing away from you but you hear the voice coming from the other side.
"welcome to my house. If you wish , you may make yourself at home. Enjoy what I have to offer and be comfortable."
In front of you appears a small , goblinoid creature with a platter bearing wine and a glass.
"don't worry" the voice tells you,"the wine has more of a bite than Darwin."
You gaze at the green creature with the horrid, gnarled smile and cautiously, but graciously, take a glass of the driest, darkest merlot you have ever tasted.
"I hope you like. I get so few visitors here that I try to make sure they enjoy their stay."
You begin to utter a question but the voice cuts you off,
"If you have anything to ask..please..read my book of shadows...my diary...before you ask." A hand appears from the chair and a finger aims at the tome you noticed earlier.
"some have called me a monster. Some an angel. I do not know which is truer. I invite you to draw your own conclusion"
With that , the man that the voice belongs to rises from the chair. His hair slicked back and eyes that seem to see into your soul.
You seem a tad uneasy with the way he appears to be reading your thoughts.
" I will be around. If you have a question. feel free to ask. but do so politely. Meanwhile read my book..Lupercus's blessings upon you."
You turn to look at the book and back towards the but who he is gone. You glance around to see if you missed a door near the chairs but their is nothing.
You notice a fire that has started in a formerly unnoticed fireplace and a large, black wolf is laying in front of it sleeping.
Unnerved by what has just happened you wonder whether you should leave or approach the book...in the end the choice is yours.
