A Word on stereotypes
The world needs them. I need them. And I have as much right to sterotype you as you do to whine about my stereotyping. Besides, they do hold true. Stereotyping is simply grouping people with similar traits. So if you don't want to be called goth, stop wearing black lipstick and chains, duh! (i.e. If you don't want to be labelled, don't wear the label.)
Besides, what does it hurt? If someone calls you punk or emo... what do you care? Do you think your individuality is lost simply because someone stereotyped you?
The truth is, the harder you try to be a "unique individual," the more you become a part of the pathetic masses, lost in an endless search for individuality. Ironic, isn't it?

Back when I was in college, which was...uh...'bo
There were a couple sure signs that you had stayed up too late. First the gray light of dawn would slowly, slowly creep up to the window, and you could see the alley behind the apartment, but hell, your pupils were so damn dialated, maybe it didn't mean anything. And then the guy upstairs would leave his apartment, walk down the stairs, and about thirty seconds later, his car would start, but that didn't mean anything, because people can drive somewhere in the middle of the night, too.
But then the paper would hit the door(for some reason I got the newspaper) and even the groggy "Whoa...lookit the colors, man..." conversation would freeze, as everyone looked to the door and the thump and wince a little. And then, as if the paperboy were the Herald of Dawn, the birds would start. They lived in a giant lilac hedge across the alley, and the first sleepy twitters would rapidly give way to a shrieking, gobbling, caroling cacaphony, as if the Finger Of God were stabbing down from heaven and into your left eyeball. Nature itself was informing you that you had Stayed Up Too Late.
And in the gritty grey light of dawn, as many generations have known before mine, nothing is ever quite as fun as it was the night before. This is the Hour when you discover that the only food in the house is ramen and expired milk, that your student loan paperwork has not been mailed, that the universe is a vast and uncaring void, in which your tiny speck is doomed to angst-ridden insecurity. This is the Hour of the Birds.
Of course, as many generations have ALSO known before mine, if you get a nicely soundproofed apartment and sleep until nine-thirty or so, you never have to see that hour again, except within the confines of your wombat's world, and life is sweet and good.
This is the ultimate truth.
I y-oinked this from Isilando's diary (after realising that I have a relation with him o.O)
It's a personality test thing... Dooo eeeet, diariers!

If most (10 or more) of the following statements are true, it is VERY likely that you are Goth. If the first statement is false, you aren't Goth. No, not even if all 16 of the rest are true. Of course, you would be readily accepted and most welcome amongst Goths for your strength of individuality and ability to appreciate the culture in general and themselves in particular.
- You feel the need to spend a lot of time creating things (music, art, poetry, philosophies, stories and the like)
I would have to question my career choice if not - 1
- Your creative efforts are often described as dark, shocking, scary, morbid or strange
Naw, I'm not a one trick pony, I can do other than that.
- You like museums and cultural centers
Yeah - 2
- You understand and even enjoy Shakespeare, Shelley, Browning or some other similar work without having to read the Cliffe Notes
Hmm, I haven't really given any of those a chance (I just plain avoid Shelley). But I do read the back-note-thin
- You know the difference between nihilism and existentialism
To quote Guybrush Threepwood "*shudder* Oh this is ridiculous." So that's a yes. - 3
- You really, truly enjoy music of many kinds
Score; but I also do not enjoy some kinds of music. But many doesn't mean all. - 4
- You are a very sensual person (aware of color, texture, sound, taste and scent)
I have no idea, honest. But to sound cool I'll say yes. - 5
- You don't understand why the people around you spend so much time watching TV
No, sorry, even I enjoy tv when something good or entertaining is on.
- You don't feel comfortable looking just like everyone else you know
Again a nope; I had my time back in the punk day when I just had to stand out; now I'll let my personality do the standing while wearing what I want and blending in.
- You do feel comfortable just being yourself, even if no one else around is anything like you
Why would I spend time with people who are nothing like me? *remembers ex-boyfriend* Oh yeah, that. I still hold that there must have been some similarity between us, even if it was "two arms two legs and a bellybutton in the smack middle". I dunno, no. I am the theatre, there's such a thing as masks.
- You wonder "why" a lot, and come up with some interesting answers
Like "why live"? </emo> Anyway, I can't really say I'd do that a lot, I read far too much to have original ideas :P
- You wonder "how" a lot, and often figure it out on your own
No, I R googleslut, to quote [Sunrose]
- You don't just reject something because you don't understand it
Hmm, I do on my playlist (it's sometimes boring to listen foreign being sung :P) and I did toss Umberto Eco across the room because he was being a complicated tosspot. >_>
- You base your opinions of people on who they are and what they do rather than what they look like
Sorry. A small tiny little racist in me. >_>
- You are not afraid of the unknown
That's the only thing I'm afraid of (well, among some other stuff like wasps and stuff)
- You are not afraid of the dark
Am.
- You are afraid of mediocrity
Am. - 6
Yeah I'm biased against thisness. I don't want to be any kind of goth, no matter how fancy a definition. They didn't even exist back when I was a kid.

This could have been written completely by me (except the stroganoff).

Your Life: The Soundtrack
So here's how it works. Open your choice of music player [iTunes, Limewire, Kazaa, etc] and put it on shuffle. Press play. For every question type the song that's on. And when you go to a new question press the next button. DONT CHEAT (well, I skipped all hindi-songs because I can't understand or remember what they sing about) or it won't be fun. Ready? GO!
Opening credits:
Satumaa-tango (Fairytale-land tango) by Maija Vilkkumaa

Waking up:

Wonder Wall by Oasis
("Today is gonna be the day when they're gonna throw it back to you")
[Meh]
First date:
What's This from Nightmare Before Christmas

[Meh, even my fight scene is emo :P]
Breaking up:
Accidentally in Love by Counting Crows
("So she said what's the problem baby, what's the problem I don't know, well..." or "how much longer could it take two curers just to cure it 'cause I can't")

Getting back together:
Kidnap the Sandy Claws from Nightmare Before Christmas
[XD XD No getting back unless I take to a life of crime, what a joyful prospect]
Secret love:
Ei (No) by Maija Vilkkumaa

[No such thing :3]
Life's okay:
If I didn't Have You (from Monsters, inc.) by Randy Newman
("Everyone loves you, you know. (Yes I know I know I know)")
[Meh, far fetched, possibly...]
Mental breakdown:

("Are we losing touch?")
[Heh, funky.]
Driving:
A pirate I was meant to be from Monkey Island 3: Curse of Monkey Island
("No time for songs, we've got to move!")
[This'd be perfect car music if other people knew the lyrics too, and everybody played a part...]
Deep thought:
Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan (Death makes an artist) by Nightwish
("Let me become what my child believes I am.")
[That's deep. :o It even has string intstruments. Music just doesn't get deeper than that.]
Flashback:
Turn off the lights by Nelly Furtado
[My playlist took "flash back" a little too literally. But it works since this song is already way old. :P]
Partying:

[No comment >_>]
Long night alone:
Hyvaa yota ja huomenta (Good night and good morning) by Don Huonot
("Stay for tonight, something's trying to hold you here. There's no such thing as a bullet proof heart.")
[A bit accurate, maybe. I <3 this song so much. The bassline's enough to give you an orgasm XD]
Death scene:
You're Beautiful by James Blunt
[No, I don't know why this song is in my playlist >_>]
Closing credits:
I am a bitch I'm a Lover by I really don't know anymore. I thought it was Alanis, but it also says Meredith Brooks sometimes >_>
[At least a good song to close with]
Sidenote: my playlist doesn't really suck this much :P It's just a weird coincidence :P
The hell?
In Dutch oompa loopma would mean: Uncle Dad Walk Mom (or something like that :p)
XD
I don't know where to put this (other than The Digital Painter's contest), so I'll just show it off in here:

GIMP, 2 weeks or more, working on and off.
I do so love when people I am supposed to work with and respect go all out of their way to disrespect me. Yes, do tell more about how much you despise all Christians for surely believing such lies as "omg so many animals can't fit into a boat!" must make them all weak and despicable. Hurrah for politically correct slander and discrimination
If it wasn't for the RP Tournament, I'd quit council now.

Yay, I scored Batman. :3
I'm happy now.
Heh, this has a point:
Well, we don't have that many smart people from USA on Elftown. Even though there are many people from English speaking countries here, most of them are only here to chat around, while that just isn't possible for stupid people from other countries because they don't know English.
Heh.
03:35:12 [Jeccabee]: there was something I used to say when I was little whenever I had a weggy... "My underwear is crackin me up."
Tomorrow's goals (in no particular order):
+ return CV-submission thingie.
-save pictures on a CD
+go to library and watch La Vita E Bella. ;_;
-Shower and Wash clothes?
-Watch Cirque Du Soleil DVD
+ET-faffing
*edit*
I have the completely wrong mentality to make a CV. If you want to be hired, you need to brag with what you've achieved, but I feel quite awful doing that, it just goes against the me-ness of being modest and disappearing. >_>
I hate this module so much.
[Hedda]:
Spanish sounds like craws and vultures are fighting...
Italian or maybe French sound nicer.
Latvian sounds pretty nice too, but there isn't much competition in the nice-sounding languages in that region. Finnish may have many vowels, but they pronounced in a very military way. Lithuanian sounds angry, Russian as arrogant spitting drunk-ass talking, German seems to be spoken by angry orcs and Polish sounds like German and Russian...
And Swedish... Well, I don't know, but it's a very melodic language and the tune is quite rude.
XD
I think it's safe to say that when you find Metallica singing about your life, your life sucks a little -_- (No, I don't mean Metallica sucks, but they're not.. y'know, happy-go-lucky or stuff... >_>)
Lay beside me, this won't hurt I swear
She loves me not, she loves me still, but she'll never love again
She lay beside me, But she'll be there when I'm gone
Black heart scarring darker still, yes she'll be there when I'm gone
Yes, she'll be there when I'm gone
Dead sure she'll be there...
-Metallica: Unforgiven II
I wish I could put "</emo>" here, but I don't think emoness will end anytime soon... >_> Feel free to unwatch my house if you're allergic to emo. I know I am >.<;;;;

- Online games targeted by cyber-crooks -
Oxygen3 24h-365d, by Panda Software (http://www.pan
Madrid, May 18 2006 - The new malware dynamic, which has seen a shift
toward financial returns as the principal drive for malware creators, is
increasingly targeting online games. Specifically, cyber-crooks are now
after the login details for installing and accessing online games.
Similarly, these criminals are trying to rob players of the 'virtual
assets' obtained in the games, such as virtual money that can be used in
the game to buy weapons, powers, etc. Given the effort required by
players to obtain these items, there are many people prepared to pay for
them as an easy way of reaching higher levels and increasing their
reputation. In this way, the virtual economy of the game translates
into real profits for the cyber-crook.
With the increasing number of games available online, there is a
corresponding increase in the options for those willing to exploit this
lucrative by-product of online games. There is now the risk that a whole
new business model could be operated by cyber-mafias, stealing virtual
assets, of apparently no real value, and selling them for real money to
the highest bidder.
The malware that most frequently affects games are Trojans. The Lineage
virus steals the login details of a player, allowing another player to
relieve him of the virtual money used to buy weapons, privileges or
abilities within the game. The different variations of the Legmir virus
target players of "Legend of Mir", stealing their passwords. Gaobot and
its variants, although more widely known for their bot characteristic
also try to get in on the act, stealing the Cd-Keys of several games,
and spreading to new potential victims. Similarly, they open a backdoor
on infected computers making them vulnerable to future attack. Users of
"World of Warcraft" could be affected by Trj/WoW.
According to Luis Corrons, director of PandaLabs: "The new financial
motivation for malware creators and the professionaliz
has led us to believe that the sacking of these virtual assets offers
potential returns for cyber-crooks that cannot be ignored."
In addition, it is important to consider the damage that this type of
malware represents for developers of games, allowing unauthorized users
to play freely using stolen login details or CD Keys. Moreover, if
companies block access to the key to prevent the fraud, legitimate users
will also be blocked with the consequent confusion and annoyance, and
generating a negative impression of the company.
One sound piece of advice for players who don't want their details or
virtual assets stolen is to ensure that they use legal software, which
has the guarantee of being genuine and untampered with by third parties.
It is also advisable to be wary of files sent over e-mail or chat
sessions, especially those accompanied by messages promising some kind
of benefit or profit. In particular, users are well advised not to open
any attachments unless they are completely sure they have come from a
trusted source. Another key to preventing infection and the spread of
this type of malicious software is the use of an integrated security
solution with preventive technologies, such as Platinum 2006 Internet
Security. Being aware of the way these threats spread and also of safe
practices will help reduce possible incidents to a minimum.
