Jason Harold Ellis, 33 years old. Place of living: Graman, Northern NSW – otherwise known as Woop Woop or ‘Where the hell is that!”. Occupation: Cattle and Sheep Cocky (farmer). All that according to his own words. Of course, in ET he seems to have an occupation too: driving people insane changing his house. Why? Because this member likes to change his house almost every time he logs in. No, it’s not because he likes to cluster people’s change lists, but because that’s what he loves the most about ET: the freedom it gives you to change stuff all the time.
Being a hardworking farmer, he doesn’t have as much time for his art as he’d like, so most of it is done on the short breaks from work. That means that they have to be done mediums that offer the convenience of being able to be picked up and put down any time. That means pencils, pastels, inks and PhotoShop. He’d like to try oils and watercolor, though, but these mediums require preparation and cleaning up, which is hard if you are just working on a picture during a tea break.
Most of his time on ET is spent writing, whether it is having a conversation with someone, ranting about something on his description, or developing ideas for his own fantasy world.

[Amtharnis]’s favorites

Favorite Wiki:

Favorite House: I’ve noticed an improvement in the descriptions people are writing in their houses, and I’ve seen a lot of really well written descriptions lately. Actually, there have been so many, that I can’t remember specific ones. [LeafyGreenPuddle]’s house has been a recent discovery – full of the unexpected. I think [Sunny Silverunicorn] is the Elftown council member that I admire the most – I think she sets a good example for members to follow. I also like to check occasionally what that wild [Kharn] fellow is up to, though I have only talked to him a couple of times.

Critique/comments/suggestions on ET: I think the Elftown format is great, and my major criticism is not with Elftown itself or its creators, but in the way that some people who come here use it. It provides a great opportunity for communicating and creativity, which not everyone who comes here seems interested in exploring. I am somewhat puzzled by the lack of diversity in the membership. I was expecting to meet all these creative people from all parts of the globe. The good thing is that they are here if you look, but you sometimes have to wade through some lazy and uninspired clutter to find them.

Message to all the Elftowners: Too many people seem to write and draw to try and impress others. This to me has no integrity. Art isn’t about being a better drawer than someone else. It is about expression. You may master the craft and technique, but to be art it must have a soul. It is better to make something that looks like it has been done by a four year old if it has feeling in it, than something that has great technique but is mechanical and emotionless. Craft is in the technique; art is in the expression. So don’t be intimidated by the work of other artists, because the only way to get better at something is to do it. People will comment on your work if what you produce has some honesty and effort put in it. Have a little dignity as an artist and don’t go spamming people to comment on your work – it is actually likely to make them less inclined to do so.
