Description:
Hey, I'm
Saulo <-- it's Hebrew - lol thats my name - and no, I'm NOT Hebrew - I'm Cuban.
I'm a Film Major for life and I love everything that is Film as well as everything that it is. It's my passion and first love.
I'm Saulo Zayas, a film student with my mind's eye set on the red carpet. I know, I know, thats your typical profile description for any "aspiring film student", but why kill the cliche? It's worked for centuries. Anyway, first things first, If you were to describe my writing it would be that it down right SUCKS. I film, not write, so that wouldn't matter much. I like tell stories with pictures...mov
ing pictures. And yes, I can read, so don't get the wrong idea. I'm not mentally incompetent.
<< REWIND
There's not an extraordinary amount of interesting information to be told about my background/history, I'm only 17, almost there, but not quite. Having come from the wonderful, yet communist country smack-dab in the center of the beautiful Caribbean sea, the blazing sun, grass green palms, and gorgeous beaches are of no real surprise to me here in the sunshine state.
I don't omit my interest politics because not very many people find it as a terribly compelling attraction. But it really frustrates me when activists deliver anti-government, or similar, speeches simply because if it wasn't for the lieing, cheating, stealing, burning, and corrupt basis that is the U.S. government, the United States wouldn't be where we are today.
My childhood could be described as a learning experience. I was energetic but I didn't put that energy to use because I was way too busy playing with Legos and an old JVC camcorder. I was fascinated by the camera. Recording something, viewing it on TV, and putting it on a VHS tape to share with friends and family was something I found to be unreal. I took the camcorder setting it in front of Lego people and by pressing the red button again and again I made things move! I figured this out on my own!
That Christmas, my parents surprised me with a box I had been eying for months, LEGO Studios. I jumped up with excitement, a wide, bright smile on my face, and a dream come true.
* STOP
Over my early teenage years, I've never really knew who I was. I knew that I was loyal, kind, mannerly, hard working, self-supporting, outgoing, bit of a comic, and quiet at most times. But is there anymore to it than that? I did a little self-soul searching and I discovered a lot of interesting things about myself, my true ambitions, my personality, and at around the end of my search, which I gave up on knowing a person can only be so complex, and junior high, I found a school that offered a TV Production course. I figured I'd leave my art, comics, and drawings behind and head towards a new medium, video .

Now, I'm a senior in the last course of the TV Production/Film class. The "Film" aspect was added over the years since our last teacher, and I, shared the same perspective. Television: A line :: Film: A curve. As simple as that may be, I was still wondering what makes up a person which is why I enrolled in a psychology class. My questions where answered from a more predominant stand-point but something was missing. Psychology can only dwell so far into the human mind only to understand the basics of our already complex selves, our persona. I've discovered a few things about myself over the recent years, and now, I find something new everyday thanks to an amazing cast of friends and family.
I set goals for myself as I stride to become a true professional in the area of a Film Director/ Cinematographer and/or editor.
I'm interested in meeting like-minded people- message me if you'd like ^__^
