Winter is Calling

It is in this quiet hour,
when all is frozen in moments,
when most are dreaming like pacifists,
that my eyes must be plotting
because I find it too hard to resist
the pull of waking.
So I allow my eyes their pleasures
while the rest of me lies quietly,
forgetting how to stir.
Is this what they call desolation?
The peeling paint on the ceiling is my friend.
My eyes like to imagine,
to pretend the paint is flowing,
pulling me closer
then pushing me away.
I am too weak to fight its tide.
When light from the streets comes to dance,
to tango with my friend,
my eyes flick to its source.
Come out to play
snowflakes croon, and I am tempted.
My window is frost-bitten and
winter is calling,
wishing I would keep it company in this quiet hour.
But my eyes have made me tired,
and I must fall asleep like a pacifist,
and awake in the morning as a rebel.

Giving Up; It Ain't All Bad

Give up what bad was then
Take your past and be reborn anew
Give up your empty hands
Raise them up, to live again

Give up what made you cold
And leave the things that mean most to you
Give up your bleeding soul
He will mend it back to what you've known

And oh, oh, can you feel it now?
He is screaming for you, out so loud
Let Him forgive all your sins
And piece together what was born from Him

Give up your empty heart
He is there for you if you believe
Give up your hardened guard
We all know that it's the hardest part

Give up being all alone
There is light even when there's no sun
Give up all the fear you've shown
Like a baby bird who now has flown

And oh, oh, can you see it now?
All the good in life beyond grey clouds
Let Him back into your life
And start again under loving light

leaves on the ground

I love walking on leaves that are on the ground,
The wind makes them swirl,
Around and around,
The way they dance,
In the autumn breeze,
Leaves that have fallen from the trees,
Every street you go on,
There is a leaf on the path,
The wind picks it up on an invisible raft,
