2011-07-10 [Alexi Ice]: I think the first option should just be 'Remain as is' or something like that....it confused me a bit when I first read the poll.
2011-07-10 [Lord Josmar]: I think if you switch it like/dislike then it will get used more because people will associate it with the like option on Facebook.
2011-07-10 [Stephen]: Yarr. :D
"How should the 'Fan/Unfan' feature to be named?" sounds kind of weird, by the way. o.o
2011-07-10 [windowframe]: @Akane: No, it needs to let people know what it actually *is* now, in case people have forgotten/just didn't know. I only actually realised that the current button to un-fan says 'unfancy' very recently (I just assumed it would say 'unfan'), and talking to other people, it seemed I wasn't the only one.
@Josmar: This is true, but not necessarily a good thing. ET isn't FB, do we really want them to associated it with it? Lots of sites have had for a long time a thumbs up/thumbs down option for postings, and lots of them call it something entirely different to facebook's like/dislike. One site I use actually has options where you can rate other people's posts with several different options: agree/disagree
2011-07-10 [wicked fae mage]: Boo! and Woo!
2011-07-11 [Nocturnaliss]: I actually haven't noticed that feature yet, but my first reaction when I read the poll was: what the hell, when did we become Facebook ?
2011-07-11 [windowframe]: Our Fan/Unfancy button is only for wiki-pages. Though Facebook definitely popularised the "like" and has the most prolific (and annoying <_<) use of it, other sites have been using it far longer, as thumbs up/thumbs down, tick or cross, positive/negat
2011-07-11 [windowframe]: Added, [wicked fae mage]. :)
2011-07-11 [Nocturnaliss]: Hah, guess I never noticed that on other sites XD
2011-07-11 [Lord Josmar]: I hardly ever use it, but I think it is a nice (semi-secret) way to advertise wikis as all the wikis you fan are shown in your house. Unless you have clicked off the option...if there is an option to click out of it.
2011-07-11 [windowframe]: No, Josmar, there isn't an opt out for that.
2011-07-11 [Thrice]: Thumbs up/Thumbs down? Positive/Negat
2011-07-11 [windowframe]: Do you want it to actually say 'positive' or would you want it to be +/- ?
2011-07-11 [Thrice]: +/- is what I meant. I have no idea why I wrote it out. xD
2011-07-11 [windowframe]: Added. :) I presume you'd want the thumbs to be little pictures, too?
2011-07-11 [Thrice]: Haha. Naw. I can live with the +/- :)
2011-07-11 [Stephen]: The pictures would be cute.. xD
2011-07-13 [Eveilber]: follower/leade
2011-07-13 [Kiddalee]: I'm a little worried that "Approve/Disap
2011-07-13 [windowframe]: Why on earth should they have voted J instead? <_< If you want to stop approving of a page, you probably disapprove of something on it? But it could say Un-approve instead.
2011-07-14 [Stephen]: I believe in lollipops. :)
2011-07-15 [Yami]: I like "Groupie and disband" XD
2011-07-17 [Teh_Wit]: I am strongly opposed mimicking Facebook.
This is Elftown, not Facebook; let us keep it that way.
Yami's "Groupie/disba
and I agree with Kiddalee on the "Approve/Disap
2011-07-18 [Artsieladie]: I agree with [Teh_Wit]. This is Elftown, not Facebook or any other site. Let's keep it that way!
2011-07-18 [windowframe]: Well neither of you need worry, Fan/unfan and like/unlike are clearly not doing very well. :P
2011-07-18 [Kiddalee]: There's too much stuff in that Wiki interface box that nobody bothers trying out.
2011-07-18 [windowframe]: Yes, I agree. Please see Redesigning ET for mock-ups of how the wiki will potentially look in future.
2011-07-18 [Kiddalee]: "If you want to stop approving of a page, you probably disapprove of something on it?" Well, no. Maybe you just don't care any more. The fact that the "unfan" button isn't available unless you're already a fan means that unfanning is returning to neutral, rather than downvoting a page.
2011-07-18 [windowframe]: "But it could say Un-approve instead."
2011-07-19 [Kiddalee]: Yeh.
