Chapter 5 signing the paperwork
I opened the folder, and started to look through it. I was amazed what I went through since I was here. I have had three surgeries on my heart, and two on my knee. I was in coma for two months and 14 days. He had all of things that I have remembered in the past couple of days. He handed me some forms, "If you sign these you are free to go. You must understand you are always free to come back when you feel like you are having a hard time in the world, if you feel left out and you do not really feel like you belong, you are welcome to come back." I started to read over the forms, and slowly signed my name to each one, making sure that I was reading each one carefully.  The whole time I was signing the forms, I kept my eye on Erica. She was just sitting there watching me sign the forms. After I was done signing the forms, I gave them back to Doctor Goodwin, and smiled at Erica. She smiled back, I turned to Doctor Goodwin. "Dr. Goodwin when can Erica here leave?"
"She will be leaving soon. After her parents come in and sign the paperwork." I looked over at Erica; she had a sad look on her face. I looked at her and tried to look in her eyes, her head was down. I tried to make her look at me in the face. She finally looked at me and I started to frown. She smiled a little. Dr. Goodwin stood up gathered the paperwork and said, "Now excuse me ladies, but I have more patients to see, have a good day and Farseena, could you please stop by my office later?" I nod at Dr. Goodwin and turn back to Erica. She looked up at me, and I asked her, "Why did you put your head down when Dr. Goodwin said that your parents need to come sign the paper work?" She frowned
"My parents disowned me. I have no parents pretty much. I am an orphan I guess."
"I see, well tell you what, leave all of this up to me, I will get you out of here."
"I would like that." I smile and say, "I am only 18 and just beginning my life, but I think I can handle taking care of you. How old are you Erica?"
"I am seven. Will you adopt me?"
"I am going to do whatever I can to adopt you. I will get you out of here I promise." Erica looked at me and smiled. She had that smile on her face, but behind the smile, I could see her pain, her soul broken up inside. Was this one of my powers? Could I see how other people feel and understand their pain? If this was one of powers, then who knows what I can accomplish. I get up from the table and said, "Erica, I am going to go talk to Dr. Goodwin, so I will talk to you later. You need help back to your room?" Erica shakes her head no. "Alright, talk to you later Erica." Then I hear Thank you, your welcome I called back. I quickly turned around, "Did you say Thank you?" I asked Erica, she shakes her head no. I shake my head as to get the thought out of my head and walk out of the room.
