AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is my work-in-progre
ss DragonBall-Z FanFiction!
It starts in an odd place, to be sure enough, at the Cell Games Tournament, well after Cell has absorbed Androids 17 and 18. The story proceeds as I have re-imagined it, a bit more mature and believable, the way I think it should have gone.
Don't worry, there's only one minor Original Character to stomach in DragonBall Turbo: The Cell Games Finale and he only plays a minor role. My sequel to this finished novel, DragonBall Turbo: Enter the Slave Master is a fully original story, with many new characters, that replaces the God AWFUL Buu Saga in the DBZ timeline. But for now, this novel should be a fun mirror to the original for you all to compare! Enjoy!

Again, all other characters are not my property and are used courtesy of TOEI.
Dramatis Personnae:
Perfect Cell: The ultimate creation of Dr. Gero, Perfect Cell is the complete manifestation of the Cell biological entity. After using his tail to consume both Android 17 and 18, Cell transformed from his incomplete, alien looking form to an all powerful humanoid monster.
Cell is created from the genetic information of the universes greatest fighters: Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Krillin, Tien, Frieza, and thousands of other less powerful warriors. It should be noted that his genetic material does not contain information from Gohan, or Gokhan (Vegeta's younger brother.
Perfect Cell stands over six-foot-ten-inches in height. His body is made of a protective green and purple exoskeleton that protects him like armor. His face looks human, and his voice is one of aristocratic, pompous confidence.
His biological connection to fighters like Goku, Piccolo, and Vegeta allow him to use their techniques (i.e.; the Kamehameha wave, Special Beam Cannon and full body regeneration, and the Final Blast respectively.)
After absorbing thousands of human beings, as well as some of Piccolo's life force, Cell grew strong enough to absorb 17 and double in power. Once in his "Imperfect Form" he was defeated by Vegeta but allowed to absorb 18 and become "Perfect." Now more than 4 times
stronger than he was before, Cell defeated Trunks and Vegeta. Trunks promised Cell that when Goku had recovered from his heart virus, Cell would be destroyed by the Earth's Champion. Cell, amused, creates "The Cell Games" Tournament to challenge the earth to a final confrontation.
Goku: The strongest of the last three remaining Saiyan warriors, Goku (known to Vegeta by his birth name, Kakarot,) is the Earth's Champion, the strongest Z-Fighter and leader of "the Earth's Special Forces." Currently 31 years old, Goku is an imposing figure.
He stands six-foot-seven-inches, tall and muscular, with a big shock of black hair. He is good looking with a cheerful disposition. Yet, despite losing his memory as a toddler and growing up to be a kind and gentle man, he still has the fighting spirit and craving for mortal combat that all Saiyans posses.
He wears his trademark orange-on-blue gi, made of magical energy resistant material. The
emblem on the back changed over the years depending on his last master, though remains currently with King Kai's seal on the back.
Trained by Master Roshi, and later by Kami, the earth's steward and protector, King Kai and
the lord of the Yardrat planet, Goku is a master martial artist, with an arsenal of techniques making him the greatest fighter alive.
His trademark techniques are:
-the Kamehameha wave, a massively powerful beam of blue ki energy, taught to him by Master Roshi.
-the Instant Transmission technique, an ability that allows Goku to literally teleport any distance and reappear instantly, taught to him by the Yardrat Lord. This makes him the fastest fighter alive.
- the Spirit Bomb, an enormous ball of destructive energy made from the summoned life force of an entire group of people, or solar system's collective life force, taught to him by King Kai.
Though King Kai also taught Goku the Kaioken technique, which can envelop Goku in a red aura and increase his power several fold in short bursts, Goku abandoned this technique after becoming a Super Saiyan. This Super Saiyan transformation technique can increase Goku's strength, agility, and power massively for an extended period of time, making the Kaioken obsolete.
During much of the fighting against the Android menace, Goku was incapacitated by a heart virus that nearly killed him. Only after Cell was terrorizing androids 17 and 18 did he recover. Rather than joining Vegeta and Trunks to face Cell after the two emerged from a year of intense training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Goku instead took his 13 year old son Gohan into the time chamber, to train Gohan to become Super Saiyan.
Gohan: The 13 year old half-Saiyan son of Goku and Chi-Chi. His heritage comes from the strongest Saiyan and one of the strongest humans to ever live. He's an intelligent, well schooled boy, but because of the Earth's constant state of peril, Gohan was forced to train as a Z-Fighter from the age of just five.
Gohan stands around five-foot-six, well muscled with features that more closely resemble his mother than his father. He has a shaggy mop of black hair and deep, intense eyes.
Trained earliest by Piccolo the Namekian warrior, Gohan dresses in Piccolo's trademark weighted helmet and shoulder mantle&cape. Gohan has a nervous disposition, and is always in doubt of his own power.
Gohan's trademark technique is the Masenko-Ha, a variant of the Kamehameha wave.
Early in the invasion of Earth by the Android menace, Gohan helped fight, but because of his weakness, held back from the tougher combat. Yet when the stoic, objective obsessed Android 16 ordered the more sentient 17 and 18 to adhere to their mission to assassinate Goku, Gohan was forced to fight. While Piccolo fought 17 near Roshi's Turtle Island, Gohan miraculously thwarted 16's attempt to kill Goku, who was in a coma from his heart sickness.
Afterwards, a recovered Goku took Gohan into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber to train the boy to be a Super Saiyan. Though Goku was successful, he did not push his son to ascend to the level past Super Saiyan (SS2,) instead training himself and Gohan to obtain the greatest control of the Super Saiyan (SS1) transformation.
It is important to note that throughout his life as a Z-Fighter, Gohan often saved his stronger friends. Gohan, when afraid or enraged, would gain freakish amounts of power in short bursts.
Piccolo: The alien, Namekian warrior, spawn of Goku's former nemesis, King Piccolo, this clone is the strongest Namekian in the universe. Namekian's are a race from the planet Namek; they are characterized by plant-like genetic structure, green skin with red muscular structure, antennae, and sharp claws. Piccolo stands six-foot-five-inches, tall and lean for his race. He also has a cruel temperament, but a wise, and even stoic disposition. He has a soft spot for Gohan and treats the boy as his own son.
Piccolo's trademark techniques are many:
-the Special Beam Cannon, a drill of ki energy that travels near instantly to impale opponents. It's the fastest energy attack in the universe.
-Regeneration, the ability to quickly re-grow lost limbs or damaged body parts.
-Body Morphing, the ability to increase his size and the length of his appendages, making him an unpredictable opponent.
-Piccolo also uses strange energy attacks, like roaring ki through his mouth or shooting lasers from his eyes
Piccolo, in the current story, is a fusion of three extremely powerful entities, King Piccolo's clone, Nail (a powerful Namekian fighter,) and Kami (the ancient Namekian steward and protector of earth, creator of the DragonBalls.) though his absorption of Nail only moderately increased his power, Piccolo is actually half of Kami's soul. As Piccolo demanded to re-assimilate Kami into himself in order to exponentially increase in power in order to fight Cell, Piccolo became the new Steward of earth. His death would now mean the destruction of the DragonBalls.
Vegeta: The crown Prince of Saiyans. Formally pure evil, but still crankier than a drunk tabby cat, Vegeta is also the king of sarcastic comments and spitting on his enemies. His disposition is thornier than his massive set of spiky hair.
Though he may only be five-foot-seven-inches, Vegeta is terrifically powerful. Perhaps even more ironic, is that he prefers to mercilessly beat his enemies to death than to raze the continent they live on with his Gallic Gun attack.
Vegeta is obsessed with becoming more powerful than Goku, and has never forgiven his Saiyan ally for defeating him and later saving his life. Vegeta though has grown tame from the last six years he's spent on earth. He's been able to enjoy the rich life as Bulma's new squeeze. He's learned to enjoy simple pleasures... Like free gravity training interstellar spaceships! However, his pride is injured by another Saiyan annoyance. His brother, Gokhan (Still known to Vegeta by his Saiyan name, Zukadan,) was the second failure to subjugate the earth with a Saiyan child. Though Gokhan's own memory loss is more mysterious. Worse still, Gokhan is much weaker than Vegeta or Goku, and a severe embarrassment to his brother.
After becoming a Super Saiyan in his own right, Vegeta saved Goku when Goku suffered a heart attack fighting Android 19 and 20. Later, he learned the mysterious Super Saiyan warrior who killed Frieza and warned the Z-Fighters of the Android menace was Trunks, his own son from the future! This gave the prince some pride back.
Later, upon learning of the arrival of Cell, Vegeta entered into the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Trunks, intent on pushing the limits of Super Saiyan power. One day later on earth, and one year later for father and son, the both emerged as the two strongest beings on earth, having Ascended beyond Super Saiyan.
Vegeta crushed Cell, but was intrigued by Cell's promise of the Perfect form. After allowing Cell to absorb 18, both Vegeta and trunks, with all their new found power, were summarily crushed by Cell.
Trunks The 17 year old son of genius Bulma Briefs and Vegeta. Technically.
Trunks is only five-foot-seven-inches, but is a hugely powerful Super Saiyan warrior. His purple bowl cut hair is oddly reminiscent of a certain famous scientist.
Armed with a titanium alloy sword, he mysteriously appears upon Frieza's arrival on earth. Goku fails to reach earth from Yardrat in time to stop Frieza. The Z-fighters, certain Frieza would destroy them all, were awed to see Super Saiyan Trunks demolish Frieza in the blink of an eye. Trunks warns them all that the androids are coming, and they should all traIn hard for the next three years to meet the menace.
In the future, (or perhaps one possible future,) Goku dies from a heart virus, and two years later, the Androids 17 and 18 appear. The androids are so powerful, they wipe out the Earth's Special forces. One by one, Vegeta, Piccolo, Tien, Yamcha, Krillin, are all killed. The DragonBalls are gone and no one can be wished back to life. Among the human survivors of the Android apocalypse, Gohan trains Trunks in hiding. Yet, soon even Gohan is killed. Trunks, believing the world is doomed, builds a time machine with his mother. Trunks traveled back to three years before he was born, hoping to prevent the androids from ever successfully killing the father he never knew, Vegeta, along with the other Z-Fighters. He gives Goku the antidote for the heart virus, then leaves, promising to come back in three years.
Upon Trunks' return, he finds the future changed. Instead of 17 and 18, androids 19 and 20 (20 apparently being the new body of Dr. Gero himself.) Worse still, Trunks finds he hasn't been born yet. When Cell appears, the biological android claimed that he, too, came in a time machine to earth. Trunks' time machine. Somehow, in Cell's time, Trunks managed to deactivate and destroy 17 and 18, preventing Cell's completion. So, Cell explained, he killed Trunks, and stole his time machine to go back to when 17 and 18 yet lived.
Undeterred by the uncertainty of this past, Trunks trains with his father, Vegeta, to reach Super Saiyan 2. Trunks exceeds his fathers power, but is still stomped by Perfect Cell. Trunks promises Goku could kill Cell. Cell, intrigued by the challenge, organizes a tournament to challenge Goku for the Earth.
Android 16: the first prototype of the final androids built. Oddly enough, he was considered defective despite being as strong or stronger than 17 and 18. 16 is not fully sentient, and has only one purpose, to destroy Goku. When Vegeta killed 19, and android 20 fled to his lab to activate 17 and 18. But 17 and 18 were the truly defective ones. Possessed of too much choice, they killed 20, not wanting to be controlled. Ultimately it was up to 16 to convince them to follow their purpose instead of just terrorizing people.
When Piccolo, Krillin, and Gohan were all that was left to protect Goku from 17, 18, and 16, Piccolo tricked 17 into a duel. 18 watched but 16 went after Goku alone. Gohan and Krillin fought 16, but Krillin was badly wounded. Yet when Gohan hopelessly fought 16, something made 16 stop and deactivate himself. Now he lies "dead" in Dr. Briefs' lab, getting hooked up to a computer to be examined.
Gokhan: Vegeta's younger half-brother, born with the name Zukadan. This Saiyan is nothing like Vegeta. He stands at six-foot-five-inches, and is a hulking mass of muscle. His hair is a thick, crown-like thatch of black spikes. However, he is something of a pacifist. He is trained by a grappling expert by the name of Master Benoit. His sky-blue gi has the English word "Benoit" written across the back, with a yellow phoenix pattern underneath. His power level probably doesn't even exceed Yamcha's, however. When fighting or focusing ki energy, Gokhan suffers horrible headaches. Thus he prefers not to fight.
As a baby, when Vegeta was only nine years old, Gokhan was sent to earth after the first Saiyan sent there, Kakarot, disappeared. This plan failed too, but under unknown circumstances. Gokhan has no memory before the age of 13. Now 29, Gokhan lives in the forest as a logger near Goku's home. He is known to Gohan as "Uncle Gokhan" and the Saiyan has been like a second father to Gohan when Goku was away. Now Vegeta won't speak to him, and refuses to acknowledge Gokhan as family.
