2008-09-12 [Linn Scarlett]: I think the human-horse joint is the best location, sides, centaurs dont work anatomically to begin with :p it is absolutely impossible for a creature to have two chests because of the intestine balance and the amount of empty space versus stomach/lungs/kidneys and all. That is not really the point though, besides, some birds have wings but cant fly? Maybe they just have frilly faery wings to look cute ;)

2008-09-12 [jaraden]: i think moira's ideas holds the best clought... for this creature to take flight it would need lift not only for the upper both lower torso aswell... mavouvering in the air would be an issue aswell and i think her idea also holds that solution.. plus it would look really cool! to address linn's comment, centaurs could be anatonically possible, with esception with the spine, the digestive organs would be housed in the lower torso while the humanoid would house the larger lunngs, heart, liver ect to sustain the enormous body, also the six limbs would obviously not be an issue, just look at the preying mantis, need i say more.. the problem only sits on the hind quarters, as they would be imbalanced in flight, but if the secondary wings were larger then those on the upper torso, flight might be possible.. the back and shoulder muscles would have to be abnormally developed but as i've studies anatomy relentlisely, and am very scrutinising in creations that are phsysically possible, i think it might actually work...
stil, i think the base image would be a fantstic one, well worth the effort..

sorry for the over analitical point of view, but i live for these kinds of trains of thought...

2008-09-12 [jaraden]: wish i was in a coma... not.. it's a crutch for me though, i try and moake things fantastical believeable... with art, stories and comics... everything has to work as it were or else, how would they exsist... like for instance, how would a man fly without wings (ie: superman)... those are the kind of things i love to try and work out.. so fantastical creatures are a joy to do...

2008-09-16 [jaraden]: it's all part of the creative process, trust me, my brain hurts even when i'm not thinking... i do so love trying to flex what little brain power i have these days... trying to pour it all into retyping up my book, but i love thinking and figuring out fantastical creatures!!!
