Edward - Yami

Good Bond

“One…”

“Don’t you dare.”

“Two…”

“You put me down right this instance, Edward, I am not kidding.”

“Three! Up you go!”

Yami let out one final kick of defiance but much to his dismay his much taller and far stronger son set him atop of a white patiently waiting horse. The horse, however, looked over its back as if wondering why the rider was sitting so absolutely and most perfectly still.

Edward let out a chuckle of amusement, shaking his head. The blond locks that he had grown out where, as usual, looped in the back in a strangely enticing manner. He had a boyish face, and boyish charm that was often appreciated by those around him. It helped that he was so genuine and easy to relate to… However, that did not change the fact that his father was about ready to strangle him.

Yami was not fond of horses. He had never been. When he was young once his brother had tried to teach him how to ride a horse. Ankei was by far not the best teacher when it came to horsemanship (or anything in general for that matter) and the end result had been a bloody lip, a bruised hip, and a bad limp for nearly a month.

“Dad, if you’re nervous, she’ll be nervous.”

Yami gave his son a withering stare. “Nervous? Do you have any idea what happened last time I was on one of these things? Blood, gore, bruising, lots of tears and humiliation. I will not repeat…” Yami’s eyes went wide as the horse took a few nervous steps back and forth. “I swear… If I knew how to get off this thing…”

Edward laughed quietly, reaching up to take the horses head and ran his fingers through its mane gently. “There, there, Hannah. Daddy doesn’t mean it. He still loves you and wants to be your friend, lots and lots.” The horse neighed playfully, throwing back her head and prancing excitedly in place.

Yami stiffened further and he felt the strain in his back becoming unbearable. He wanted nothing more than to leap off this monstrous thing and hole himself up inside—away from this beast, away from his nosy child, and out of this damn sun. There was nothing fun about this whole situation. If he knew how to ‘dismount’ this creature without killing himself he would. Unfortunately for him, he hadn’t even the faintest idea where to even hold onto the horse. His fingers were digging into his knees and he was starting to feel that he was going to slide right off the horses back—even if he was snug in the saddle… It was a most unpleasant feeling.

“Come on, Dad. Just relax. You might enjoy it.”

“No. When I tell you and Kevlin that you may come and stay whenever you wish, I happily allowed those horses of yours to say as well. I did not, however, mention any desire what so ever of riding the beasts.” His tone was sharp, but it was edged with panic.

“Hannah takes offense. If you’re not careful, she may just get away with you still on board.” Edward grinned up at his father who gave him a menacing scowl. “I’m kidding, I wouldn’t do that. Hannah’s a good girl. I’ve had her for six years and I promise she’s never made a break for freedom since I’ve had her… though I wouldn’t put it past her….”

Yami let out a heavy sigh. “Please, Edward... I’ve had about enough of this. Help me down or I swear I will cut ever fund you will ever see in the future.”

Edward snorted with laughter, “You don’t say?” The desperate looks his father kept giving him were becoming unbearable. It didn’t help that Hannah was growing impatient. She was using to long face-paced rides, not standing in place and acting like a stand-in pony for a three year old. Finally, with an exaggerated sigh Edward reached up and pulled his father off the horse.

Yami made sure his feet were firmly planted on the ground without any assistance before sharply fixing his clothes and giving his son the coldest stare he could possibly give. “If you weren’t my own, I would have destroyed every cell in your body.”

Ed laughed, “Oh yeah?” He reached over and patted the horse. She gave him and then Yami a suspicious look before clopping away to munch on some grass with her fellow horse-friend. “You’re too soft, Dad. You wouldn’t hurt a fly. Watch, I’ll prove it.”

“Edward…”

The blond shot forth, tackled the smaller man around the waist and then hoisted him up over his shoulder. Yami let out a squeal of surprise, kicking his feet and digging his hands into the others back. Edward had no boundaries and it was sometimes hard to get use to. He may be one of the few of Yami’s children that were actually blood-related to him, but they were so different from each other it was astounding. Edward acted much like his uncle, Ankei.

Yami didn’t exactly disapprove of that.

A/N: Story bond 16/81 of a project I'm working on.

I'm not sure if I like this... not so much because it's not something Edward would do (he would totally do this) I'm just not so sure how happy I am having to use the horse against Yami. It wasn't as amusing to me when I was done then it had been in my head. Lol.

Edward is such a fun guy. I love him to death... he's such a goof-ball. He's fun to write with. He has kind of a personality like Ankei, playful and energetic... But Edward doesn't get as moody as Ankei does at times. Though Ed is pretty easily offended and can get in fist fights pretty easily. Lawl. Don't get Ed drunk XD;

Yami... doesn't like animals that much. He doesn't mind looking at them, but he's not found of them like...touching him. Horses are not something he ever wanted to learn to adjust to. As you can imagine, a really bad first experience sort of set the tone for that. XD;
