Ender's Game review
This is a sci-fi novel set in a future where Earth has been attacked by an insectoid race called the "Buggers" by the people on Earth. Since the time of the Bugger attack, Earth has been trying to find a great leader who will unleash their armies on the Bugger homeworld in retribution for past aggressions.
Enter Ender Wiggins, the main character of the book. This character was very well developed, the book following him from his early childhood all the way to the end of his career. Despite some strong emphasis on politics for a few chapters of the book, most of it was pretty action packed. The other characters are also interesting, especially Ender's siblings back on Earth while he is away at training camp.
Like many good sci-fi novels the technology mentioned is accurate to real-world physics and is for the most part believable. I especially liked the "Game" that the trainees play for practice which eventually becomes a proving ground for Ender alone as the adults shape him to become the next brilliant general of Earth.
The ending is surprising, but again not unbelievable. I would definately recommend reading this, as well as the sequels that were written from different characters' points of view as well as in the years following the end of Ender's career as a general.
