Subject: [
Delladreing]
Real name: Fiona
Age: 20
Place of living: Scotland
Q: I see you study English Literature. What do you want to do after graduating? Let's put the clichéd scenario question here: How do you think your life will be in ten years from now?
A: Honestly? If given the chance I'd spend my time writing, its my goal to be published one day. But as much as the romantic notion of living off my billions from my best seller is appealing (*winkwink*), I'm training to be a high school teacher of English literature. So in ten years time? Probably teaching little kiddies to appreciate literature and hopefully inspiring them to be creative themselves. And if and when I have the time, writing till my heart is content.
Q: Where in Scotland do you keep your lair?
A: I actually live in the middle of nowhere, small town on the outskirts of another small town. The nearest city to me is Glasgow though.
Q: What is it like there in winter?
A: Wet. Anyone who's been to the West Coast knows that that is the only way to sum it up.
Q: What do you like to do, besides lounging on ET?
A: In general I am a bit of an Internet junkie, I've got lots of sites I like to haunt and make myself known on, but when I'm not checking in on places I'll either be playing games, trying to get my writing portfolio up to scratch, trying to work my digital camera or out and about with friends. Usually dressed as a pirate...
Q: Do you have a special attachment to pirates, then?
A: I always have since I was little. When I was seven I had a themed birthday party, which was Pirates if you couldn't guess. My father is a really creative man, and he likes to paint things. Especially the house. For my 7th birthday he painted the inside of the house in one part to look like the inside of a pirate ship, and the rest to look like a tropical island. The
outside of the house painted to look like pirate ship. He made himself up to be the most fearsome pirate that ever sailed the seven seas. He even had a peg leg.
Most recently the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have rekindled my love for pirates and all things piratey. I go by the name of “Black Death Dela” every September 19th, otherwise known as
Talk Like A Pirate Day.
Q: How did you end up in Elftown? How do you keep yourself occupied here?
A: Honestly? By mistake XD
My teacher actually directed me to Elfwood a long long time ago. He knew I loved to write science fiction fantasy, and often encouraged me to write creative pieces. So when searching for Elfwood I found Elftown. I keep myself busy on here by updating my projects and chatting away with the people I met, mostly through my own projects. Its good fun :)
Q: How do you like Elftown? Is there anything you would like to see changed?
A: I like Elftown just fine :)
Q: What are your favourite houses, wikis, etc.?
A: Oh hmmm. Well I love all my friends and their houses, I have very interesting (read: odd) friends on here. Specifically people like [
sequeena_rae], who's house never stays the same for very long :P
And wikis I have too many to pick from. Any RP run by [
Adaman] is always good.
30 Books is another place I like to look at. But it has to be said, my favourite wikis are my own ;) I put a lot of work in to them, so I think I’m entitled to this opinion XD
Q: You have a couple of pet projects here that have gained significant following. Would you like to tell something about them?
A: Ah, well that depends on which ones you mean. Otherwise we could be here for a looong time. But the main ones, as kept on my house seem to be the ones everyone talks about.
Playgans is my baby. It was my initial rant that through me in to the middle of Elftown, where as before I’d always participated from the sidelines. In short, it’s a collection of educational rantings about the false nature of many modern day pagans, specifically those who claimed to follow Wicca. I’m not Wiccan, but my faith runs along a similar path, and it was so annoying to be surrounded by people who were “into” Wicca because it was “cool” So I started ranting in my diary about it. I am an utterly self confessed
Diary Whore as my relation list will tell you. People liked my entries, in amongst the anger and the sarcasm I somehow managed to inject a lot of fact and educational tidbits, and people recommended that I make it public in a wiki. The rest is history,
Playgans has developed a cult like status on the net, it even has its own UrbanDictionar
y entry. I’m planning to have the official Playgans website up and running some day in the future, so watch out for that ;)
Body Image was my second baby on Elftown, although it is as yet, incomplete and will soon face a major update. But in a nutshell, Body Image was created out of retaliation against another wiki which shall not be named. The latest “trend” on the internet is the promotion of eating disorders, such as anorexia and bulimia not as illnesses but as “life styles” which they certainly are not. I suffered for years in silence, often lying to hide the fact that for ten years of my life I struggled and dealt with my own eating disorder. Body Image is an attempt to show people that they can recover from their illness and that there is life beyond the eating disorder. It is also an exposure of many websites and other forms of media that would have you believe that in today’s world there is only one form of true beauty, which is utter nonsense. Like I said, it is woefully incomplete, and I hope to have the wiki up and fully running by this summer.
The other two wikis listed on my house are less serious in matter, and more created in the name of pure fun. I am a Major fan of Terry Pratchett, specifically his Discworld novels. The Turtle Moves is my constantly updated guide to the Discworld realm. The Disc is my fan based RP, which is always looking for good players, and will again be up and running shortly, as soon as I’ve fixed the slight glitch I am having in various pages >.> (I Swear!)
Q: Is there someone, apart from Pratchett, that you especially admire?
A: Hmm, many people, mostly my friends if I am honest.
Q: For you, is the glass half empty or half full? Why?
A: Half full or half empty it doesn’t really matter. What does matter is that some person has been drinking from my glass and I am not happy XD
Q: If you had to choose one piece of advice to give everyone, what would it be?
A: I personally think the quote in py house profile is the best advice in the world. It reads:
Live your Dreams!
...apart from that one about being eaten by a giant spider...
Thank you for the interview, Dela!
