Flouresce - Trinity Story Bond

Good Bond

She was a pretty girl, quiet and reserved in her own right. Her long flowing white dress was the same color as her perfectly straight shoulder-length hair, with bangs pinned to the right with an adorable little pink butterfly clip. She had a certain elegance about her and the distant look on her face made it seem as though she were entertaining some wonderfully philosophical thoughts that no one could dare to rival. She was soft, delicate, dreamy… and so completely and utterly distant. It was almost as if the world around her didn’t exist. It was sometimes frightening to behold her.

Trinity let out a soft sigh and her fingers wove together in her lap. Her golden eyes drifted higher, past the bubbling fountain that she sat next to, and began to explore the distance flowers in her family’s garden. She enjoyed the peacefulness that was offered here. The soft buzz of insects, the gentle songs of birds and the steady rhythm of water falling from the angelic figure in the fountain calmed her spirit. It made her feel almost like she was normal… Almost.

She could very faintly still make out the thoughts of others somewhere off in the distance. Probably in the manor somewhere, back where she lived.

Where did I put that tea set? Oh, man, Papa’s going to be so upset if I’ve lost it again…

The thoughts belonged to… Trinity wrinkled her nose slightly in thought. Oh, of course, it was definitely Vyse. Vyse was always losing things.

Trinity laughed softly to herself, reaching up to rest one hand across her weary eyes. It was difficult… being her. She never had a moments time of sheer blissful silence. She could not stop the thoughts of others from making their way into her mind. Some said it was a gift, but she often referred to it as a curse. It made her feel crazy sometimes and she often wondered if she truly heard others thoughts or that she simply thought she heard them. It was often a maddening subject to dwell over.

There were very few who could put up barriers against her innate ability to read their thoughts. Her father, Yami, in particular had been the first to ease her burden by placing an intricate and rather painful barrier on himself against her. She had been horrified at first—seeing his weakened state. The time it took him to recover seemed forever. He hadn’t been himself for almost a month. She didn’t quite understand what he had done but it was something like closing your chi slots to certain wave energies that matched hers—energies that he had always been accustomed to and when they had suddenly been stopped it had caused him great illnesses. He was fully recovered now and Trinity had to admit, she was thoroughly grateful to him for making one less mind that would assault hers.

Over the years her eldest sister and eldest brother, Flouresce and Raif, had managed to also block their minds to her as well. She was eternally grateful to them—even if one of them in particular often used this barrier against her.

“Boo!”

Trinity squealed in fright and jumped, flailing her arms unsightly. She probably would have fallen right into the fountain had Flouresce not grabbed her wrists and jerked her away and into her arms. Flouresce laughed heartily from her position on the ground, her little sister a twisted and ungraceful heap in her lap.

“Oh, Trin. I simply couldn’t stand that look on your face…” the red-head said between laughs. Trinity slowly untangled herself from her older sisters lap and stood, brushing the wrinkles from her dress. She gave her elder sister, what she hoped, was a menacing stare. Flouresce, however, only laughed. “That’s another look that doesn’t suit you. Come on, help me up.” She extended her hand and at first Trinity wanted to refuse but with a sigh she helped her sister to her feet.

“Flouresce… I really wish you wouldn’t scare me all the time…” Trinity said quietly, flushing slightly and looking away.

“I won’t hear it! You need a good jolt from fairyland every now and then. It gives you some color.”

Trinity flushed darker, her lips forming into a pout. “That’s mean.”

Flouresce grinned back, batting here eyelashes at the shorter woman. “You think so? Me, little miss innocent ? Mean? How awful of you to say so!”

It sometimes bothered Trinity that she couldn’t tell what Flouresce was thinking. Had it been anyone else she would have been able to hear those inner thoughts, that inner plotting. Flouresce was plotting. She always was.

“…” Trinity turned away with a sigh, crossing her arms. “Maybe you should go see Vyse. He’s lost Papa’s tea set again.”

Flouresce made a face. She and Vyse weren’t exactly the most… tolerant of people. Putting them together was a mix of disaster. The red-head elf and the green-haired nymph had personality clashes like no other. They avoided each other at all costs—mostly for Kaelin’s sake. One thing or another always seemed to be broken after those two had an encounter. Trinity knew this, and it bothered Flouresce that she was trying to pawn her off on Vyse, of all people.

“What’s wrong with you? Bad day?” Flouresce asked cheerily, plopping herself down in Trinity’s former spot. The red-head smoothed out the wrinkles in her white trench coat before stretching out her long legs and leaning back. “You can tell me… I’m your big sister.”

With a sigh, Trinity followed suit, sitting quietly next to the elf. “It’s nothing, really. I just wish I could get some peace from all the noise.” Almost on cue a string of curse words assaulted her mind and clearing her throat uncomfortable, Trinity looked away trying to ignore Edward’s sudden and colorful inner-thoughts. He must have just gotten home from one of his adventures, and no doubt had forgotten one thing or another. Vyse was pretty much the miniature-version of Edward. Trinity had a sneaking suspicion that Vyse often mirrored his actions after his older brother.

“Well, Dad’s working on that.” Flouresce said, referring to Yami of course.

Yami was a thinker, a philosopher. Someone who could come up with theories and equations—but for the life of him could never act on them. Yami was not a builder, in fact, he lacked any skills at all when it came to anything mechanical. What he hoped for was to build a device and then weave spells into it that changed frequencies around her, distorting them before they reached her. In theory, Yami could do the spell, but for the life of him he couldn’t think of a device that could contain the spell.

So for now, all the Prince of Aurora could do was think of something that would help contain Trinity’s ability… It was something the two of them had discussed and Trinity looked forward to the day when she could be at peace.

“Trin? Hello, Trinity?”

“Hmm? I’m sorry, Flouresce, I’m just thinking.”

“About what?” the red-head tilted her head. Her legs were crossed daintily, but she was bouncing one foot rapidly—the elf could never sit still. It was amazing that she had the patience to teach at the Academy.

“…What it must be like to be normal,” Trinity admitted softly, sighing. Yet, the irony was she wished desperately to know what Flouresce was thinking right now. Was she laughing inwardly at the cruel fate that had left her with a barrage of others thoughts? Or was she sympathetic?

Flouresce was quiet for a moment, studying the blue sky above her before she shrugged a little. “I don’t think there can ever be a clear definition of what’s ‘normal’, Trinity. Sure, you’re different, but you’re not…abnormal.” Flouresce laughed out-loud at that thought. Sure, Trinity was a little weird, but she was sweet. “Hun, I don’t think you should worry about anything like that. I think it’s good that you acknowledge your differences, but don’t dwell on them. I mean, come on,” Flouresce lifted her bouncing foot up to show Trinity her four-inch heels, “I’m six-foot-one, Trinity. Seriously. Think about it.”

Trinity couldn’t help but laugh. It really was funny. Flouresce was by far the tallest of any in the family (besides Kaelin who matched her height, but steered clear of high heels). She flaunted her difference. In fact, she thoroughly enjoyed towering over her siblings… and her students, and of course, everyone in general. Her fiery and playful personality only drew those towards her, despite the fact that her students (secretly) thought she was half behemoth. She accepted her unusual tower-like appearance—in fact, she emphasized it.

“I… suppose you’re right, Flouresce.” Trinity said quietly, trying to let out the last of her giggles. “I really did enjoy teasing Aeres when I found out what boy she liked when we were kids.”

“That’s the spirit! Let’s look at the positive side.” Flouresce stood suddenly, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a golden pocket watch. “Crap. I’m going to be late for my next lesson.” She leaned forward, her hands on her knees and smiled down at her little sister, “Smile, Trinity. There’s always a reason to.”

Trinity smiled in response, unable to help herself. With a quick wave and a grin (and thumbs up) Flouresce made her way out of the garden, her high heels clacking loudly on the cobblestone and Trinity could only grin after her.

[Ramirez]

A/N: I'm working on a project to get to know my characters and their relations to each other. There's 81 different relations that I plan on writing on, this is the first of...many. The writing isn't as in depth as my other stuff simply because I don't really have set personalities for everyone yet, thus with each story I write with one of their bond mates I can start building habits and characteristics unique to them. I took all 81 relations (there's actually I think 115, but some of them have 'weak bonds' with each other and I didn't think writing a story with two characters that have nothing in common would make sense).. and so I put them all in a hat. Trinity and Flouresce were the first bond I pulled.

So hopefully this huge project works out for me. I'm actually pretty excited about it, I really want to start giving my children more personality. (Yes, they're my babiiiiiesss -hugs them all-)
