The Most Beautiful Image I have Ever Seen. Digital photograph, 2007

The first piece of photographic machine-art by me that I considered "worthy", and even then I must give credit to where it is due, which is nowhere: this was a freakishly lucky shot of a 10x10cm photographic printing plate I came across in the university typography workshop (it is the most wonderful room in the whole of university, tiny room with workbenches and odd machines and case after case of old metal type; the whole place has such a wonderful and inspiring feel to it). Right after I had taken the photo I looked at the result on my camera's digital screen and my heart stopped. It was, and still is, the most beautiful image I had ever seen, the ideal of my work immortalised there in front of my eyes.

2011-05-07 [iippo]: Thank you :)

2011-05-07 [Neferoth, the lethargic stigmata]: No problem. How did you get into this career? I mean, I'm not at all artistc in any way. I'm just curiouse.

2011-05-09 [iippo]: Well, it started when I was kidnapped by pirates at the age of three...

Oh you mean the arts. Well my best subjects in school were art and English so I combined the two and moved to England to study art. In the beginning of my BA I started out in Painting and Printmaking (aka 2D art), then dropped painting because I was mediocre at it and focused on drawing. Then got into this idea of combining the hand-drawn (with its special tactile feeling and preciousness) with the digital, especially the internet (infinite copies and instant access), dabbled in animation and interactive things, and because of that ended up on the Masters programme for Media Art.

The machines forced their way in sometime after I dropped painting and I've been stuck on them ever since.

What's your field or passion?

2011-05-13 [Neferoth, the lethargic stigmata]: Culinary arts. I plan on opening my own resteraunt someday(dreams), so I know I'll have to take bussiness as a class as we'll, buuut I needs money for school and minimum wage just isn't enough. I'm working on that though. If I've learned anything from my years on ET its that if you try hard enough and want somthing enough, eventualy you'll get it.
