La Barre
You walk into the Café: beautiful rainbow colours float from the traditional Impressionist painted walls, giving you a sense of a place with artistic culture.
A wooden bar it situated ahead, accompanied by an old piano and a cards table. Off to the sides are other doors, to secret, unknown rooms.
From the bar, a soft, French voice issues, "Come and sit traveller. What can I do for you?"
You look up at the voice: a young woman stands, awaiting your answer, and you suddenly feel that many people have passed through this place - some alive, some... dead. This is the bar: where you can drink, eat, talk and be merry.
Isobel Crofton stands behind the bar, rubbing a pewter jug with a cloth. She taps her foot impatiently, waiting to see the first customers of the day.
Georick enters the place. Like always in a new place, he scans it, seeing if there's anything that may or may not be harmful. He scritches his neck, as he looks around in the deserted place. Aside from the 'tender, of course. He moves towards Isobel, and sits down. "Can you get me a bourbon?".
Isobel smiles at the customer. "Sure," she says. She turns round, and reaches for a glass jar above her head. Pulling it out, she turns back to Georick: "How many would you like? They're six francs per 100g."
Georick ponders. "For six franc? I'll have me five, then. It's been a while since I had a good drinkin'." he digs into a pocket, to dig out the needed money. An assembly of a 10 franc note, and the last 20 in coins lands on the table. What was left, went back into his pocket.
