My Sugar Gliders!

[Aeolynn]

Sage and Autumn have now been sold to a guy with four other gliders... I am very sad, but at least they went to a good home!

the banner for your house is at the very bottom of the wiki!

Sugar Gliders or aka "suggies" are not rodents and are not flying squirrels, in fact, they are not even related. though their build and manner of moving are very similiar, the Petaurus breviceps (sugar gliders) and the Pteromyini or Petauristini (Flyring squirrel) may both glide and have the patagium, a flap of skin that connects to their front and back legs but they are fairly different. For one, a flying squirrel is a rodent, while suggies are marsupials(also called a 'flying possum' because of the fact that opossums are america's only marsupial). Although it is illegal to capture and breed suggies in Australia, their origin, they have also spread to Tasmania, New Guinea, and some weird place I have never heard of (Bismarck Archipelago) and there are several breeders in the US. The breeder I recieved my gliders from was extrememly helpful and answered all my questions through email within almost 10 minutes! She's a pretty cool lady who is the owner of over 200 breeding sugar glider pairs! 0.0 wow! (http://www.sugar-gliders.com/) Here's her website so you can email her questions if you want, and you can also read more about suggies and their pricings... thanks for reading and tell her Kim sent yah! - Toodles!

And PS: Sugar gliders are illegal in four states! 0.o (California, Georgia, Hawaii, and Alaska)

[Recieving date: June first 2007]-[Selling date: August twenty-eigth 2007]

2007-06-21 [Fearathress]: They are sooo cute!!!

2007-06-21 [Aeolynn]: lol thanks!!!

2007-06-22 [Asrun]: I would love to have sugar gliders, but their cages are HUGE, and they require a lot of care. I'll stick to my degus for exotics for now! Thanks for sharing your gliders. :)

2007-06-22 [Aeolynn]: hey thanks asrun! *hugs*

2007-06-24 [Erubeus]: Sandy coloured Deguses are cute.. so are blue ones.. :D

2007-06-24 [Asrun]: Mutations arn't good.. To quote a fellow degu lover on a forum I'm apart of.. "From what I am aware of, the colour mutations of degus are likely to be far weaker than the standard brown. This is because the occasional degu that is born in the different colour is bred only with another mutation, thus increasing this faulty gene being passed on. the different colour degus are usually weaker, live shorter lives, and suffer health problems. It is much the same as the mutations in goldfish that are bred in on purpose, to the point that the goldfish can hardly swim it is so mutated."

2007-06-24 [Asrun]: Every single domesticated degu was originally bred from 10 degus. That's a lot of inbreeding, so any mutation as you can imagine is only amplified.

2007-06-24 [Aeolynn]: lol... thats very interesting... Lisa (the suggie breeder) has never had her gliders inbreed for that reason

2007-06-24 [Asrun]: Aeolynn: Exactly. Degus should definately not be bred if they are from the same litter. :) But you ultimately can't avoid some aspect of inbreeding. XD

2007-06-25 [Aeolynn]: yeah that sucks ><;

2007-08-29 [Ravendust]: I'm glad they're at least going to a good home where they'll be well taken care of.

2007-08-30 [Black Light Cannon D]: oh my goodness those are one of the cutest animals i have ever seen!

2007-09-05 [Aeolynn]: thank you! I don't own them anymore but keep spreading the word about them!

2007-09-24 [kay-chan]: It would be more than awesome to have one, but I live in Cali. :(

2007-09-25 [Aeolynn]: lol... yeah Kay *hugs* thats why I had to sell em TT_TT
