Paradise Lost/Paradise Regained by John Milton

Paradise Lost is about the fall of Satan, the creation of Hell, and the fall/sin of mankind.
Paradise Regained is smaller and is about the second coming of Christ when man "regains" Paradise and the New Earth.

_{(I had to read it for school, just so you know.)}
For me the story plot was actually pretty good. There were a couple parts that were boring and hard for me to understand, but that's because it was written in Early Modern English. Click here for more info. I think if I hadn't put the effort into knowing more about it (because of school), I probably wouldn't have liked it. It's not your "backyard resting read."
If it were written in novel form and in today's English, I would quite enjoy it. It's quite a "Biblical" book.

I recommend it, if you're good with older style poems that use words like "thee" and "ye" and "thine." If you know the story of the Garden of Eve and Satan's fall, it should make more sense.

All in all, I liked the book.

And just because it's a poem, it doesn't mean it's not a book. :P A book is just the binding. Crossing out book to write poem is like crossing out book to write 'novel', or 'short story' instead. :P

"Early Modern English" is like a sub-category of Modern English so technically speaking it's Modern English, too.

2010-07-27 [windowframe]: Er, no. :P It's not a sub-category, just like 'post-modernism' isn't a sub-category of 'modernism'. Don't be mislead by names. :P

2010-07-27 [*Phoenix*]: Well, in my English class we just had "Modern English." She didn't go into to "Early Modern English" or anything. It was "Old English," "Middle English," then "Modern English." That's why I thought they would be together.

2010-07-27 [windowframe]: Nah. Deeeeefinitely more than three. I don't know what level you're being taught English at, maybe they thought that more detail was unnecessary. :P

2010-07-27 [*Phoenix*]: It's just a Jr/Sr High school class. The teacher probably did think that. I know her pretty well, and our class is a little hard to handle. They complain about EVERYTHING so it makes sense. Thanks.
