The Sea - Myth & Fantasy
Poetry Corner - Issue11

Wow, it seems we have a few regulars at the Poetry Corner who yet again have given us some wonderful themed poetry, but I must remind everyone else - poetry at the Poetry Corner must follow the theme, must be accompanied by your name, and the poetry itself must be located on the page - not a link to elsewhere!
Apart from that, the featured poetry for our theme 'The Sea - Myth and Fantasy' is excellent and I personally am amazed at these Poets who can empathise with so many different moods and themes as to be able to produce poetry of this calibre on demand! Thanks you guys, and please keep subitting poetry with us, its appreciated.

Also remember, to all those whose poetry didnt make it: read the PoetryCorner guidelines for the rules on guidelines to help your poetry get featured in the next Herald :)

Please, show your support by checking out these members houses, and keep an eye out for next month's Poetry Corner theme for your chance to submit your work.

Thanks from all of us here at the Poetry Corner

A late feature from last issue 'The Future, Scifi and Cyberpunk' which got looked over! Sorry to the poet [Keii], and to everyone else who missed out on reading this.

'Virtual Fields' By [Keii] Kei's Poetry 2

The world around me crumbles at my feet,
Distant stars long gone, once fiery balls of heat
I look around with a forsaken sigh
What happened to those trees that once rose up high?
Replaced with spires of iron and glass
In a bubble, floating on what was once a beautiful past.
We sought to make the world a cleaner place
Hovering cars are now our taste.
But in the process we’ve forgotten what is real,
And now live in virtual fields…

Vastness of the Sea By [nokaredes]

Staring into open sea,
The burden of her decision is apparent.

A choice limiting the mind and spirit

One love in replace of another,
One love may be enough.

A man incapable of change,
A woman’s wandering eye will strain,
Under a cast shadow.

She stares at the waves crashing into rocks sealing her fate.

The love she longs to be near appears
As a ghostly shadow on the water.

Beaconing her with open arms,
‘Words are not enough,’ he whispers,
As she plunges into the thrashing sea.

Whispers of Atlantis By [Cascading water lillies]

Dark in fathoms deep
Weaved within time and space
Early dwellers look upon and gaze
At the land which now sleeps

At the sea's grace
Mighty as she
She envelopes me
In folds of emerald green and foamy lace

Azure blue’s that within the eyes gleam
Reflected from the sky
To below
Reflect a dream

Fathoms that strike deep
Further down, a blackness
Drapes the city
That dwelt upon land, free

Folds of darkness
As the levels rise
For the last time

The lost
And found
Forever shadowed, forever hidden

A secret race
Gone, without a trace
The city of Atlantis
Merely a whisper, a hint

Upon oceans lips of silence
An image bow far greater
Than words itself
A lifetime within legends old

Forever spoken, ever re- told
Atlantis, a secret to be told
And one day to be discovered

She is the ocean by [Elmiira]

She was alone.
She lived in the ocean.
She was the ocean.

She was a legend
They whispered her name,
the name of the nameless.

She ran on the water,
she slept on the waves.
She played with the foam,
and swam in the
underwater caves.

She was alone.
Fearing the dark.
Crying tears,
that do not exist.
She's nothing.

They're not whispering her name anymore.
The legend has been forgotten.
Her memory has died.

She has died.
The girl, that once was me.

Seafog Mourning by [blackenedrose*]

In mourning, seafog
Makes small things visible.
Pearls cling to petals.
Pine needles are fringed with glass.
The sea breaks against rocks.
Heaving back, it breaks again.
What does the wild rose know of its beauty?
Have you any idea what you've given me?

not sure wether this will fit in or not, tell me if it doesnt

The Submarine by [Doormat]
On a day, in a blood red October,
Where a ship’s crew, wasn’t close to sober,
If they were, they would’ve realized by now,
Of a giant creature, latched on the bow.

The engines died, with an explosive pop,
Like a can of sardines, off came the sub’s top,
To late, to save the many lives at stake,
The crew fell, to its mouth, with a shake.

Ironic, that an animal, we like to eat,
Can drag us down, put under its feet,
So think about this incident and feel sorry,
Think of the sailors, when you eat calamari.

Ocean by [Jay Ladlehaus]
I dove into the cool, life-filled haven,
And looked around the blue crystal.
The waves above made me akin,
To the waters that softly lull.
The fish swam by in an exotic dance,
The kelp forests sway to a beat.
A ray of light penetrates like a lance,
The white sand stirs beneath my feet.
This underwater grotto of wonder,
Its doom is man's greatest blunder.

The Sea's Only Lover By [shadow_of_life]

You must have been so damn alone
For a deadly long and lifeless time
And even when I'm surely gone
Your thirst will never die inside

Who could've ever dared to love you?
Eho realised you needed love?
Who found you salthy waters calming?
Whose lips were kissed by your sweet salt?

It's only me that want to love you -
You great, enchanting, endless Sea
Make love with me, i'll make you blossom
The kiss me, hold me, make me bleed!

Enchain me with your sands of silver
And cut me with you whips of storm
Be cold and icy, make me shiver
With killing, violent, angry love

And give me all your suns and sunsets
And all the fallen stars in you
The power of your fearless hunters
And in your depths - the lights of truth

You gave birth once - teh birth of Life
And since then you've been just a Mother
Still young and lively, but a Christ
With children, but without a lover

I cannot breathe, I'm underwater
I die embracing salthy waves
I just preferred the 'all or nothing' -
Just kissed the Sea's delighted face

Now I give birth of something special
And you're exhausted from our love
You sleep - I die, but I'm creating
The future for your newborn Life

That's why at dawn the Sea is silenced
Just tired from the passion's flames
The Night is over and when drowning
Gives birth to just another day.
