Cooking with Kids

It’s once again time for cooking with kids! Grab your ingredients, aprons, chef hats, and the little ones and get ready to spend some quality time having a bit of fun!



Fairytale Cake Recipe

What you’ll need:

1 pre-cooked angelfood cake
1 box of instant vanilla pudding
Milk
1 teaspoon of real vanilla (if you use vanilla flavoring, double this amount)
1 container of thawed whipped topping
1 carton of fresh strawberries (you can leave the stems on for added color)
2 tablespoons of crushed pecans
Mint sprigs (totally optional)
 
1st. Have the kids tear the angel food cake into small chunks and place the cake into a large bowl.
2nd. Have them help you mix the instant pudding according to directions on the box, using milk. Stir in the vanilla and chill for about 15 minutes.
3rd. Remove and slowly incorporate the whipped topping. Do this very gently so the topping won't collapse!
4th. Let the children spoon your dessert into the serving dish of your choice over the cake.
5th. Decorate with the strawberries and sprinkle with pecans.

Optional: Strawberry Fruit Swirl
Crush a dozen small strawberries. Add NutraSweet (or a generic equivalent) according to your personal preferences. Use for decorating the Fairytale Cake if desired or swirl it onto the serving dish as previously suggested.
