Tekeonia System Information

Silencers

Appearance

– Gray complexion, metallic black eyes with several color tints depending on the angle and light, coarse gray straight hair. Average height is 162 cm, average weight 28 kg.
– Epicene.
– Have strange eyes that look a little like compound eyes from the outside. Have no nose.
– Adults grow small bits of exoskeleton on their bodies.
– Have ten (five pairs) of some sort of tentacle-like limbs coming from under their spines on the ribcage. The tentacles are covered with extremely fine, shiny hair that makes the tentacles themselves look shiny. Silencers can retract the tentacles back into their ribcages, and need to keep them very clean, especially in thick atmospheres. The tentacles are usually approximately as long as their arms, never longer than their legs.
– Might have two to four arms and legs. The muscles on their limbs are always visible.

Abilities

– Standard lifespan is 897 Silence years (871 Terra years, 453 Tekeonia years). A person under the age of 20 (19 Terra years, 10 Tekeonia years) is a minor. Relatively complete mental capacity is reached at 50 (49 Terra years, 25 Tekeonia years). Reproductive capability is reached at 60 (58 Terra years, 30 Tekeonia years).
– Can see visible light, magnetic fields and electricity extremely accurately due to their eyes. The eyes are some sort of combination of normal eyeballs and compound eyes. The eyes seem to only develop normally in low pressure, and high pressure feels rather unpleasant for hard adult eyes as well, so the silencers on other planets tend to wear de-pressurized goggles.
– Have no sense of smell (except for what little they can taste from the thicker atmospheres using their sense of taste) and a refined and not that good sense of hearing. They can only hear a frequency of about 100–10000 Hz. Loud sounds can also harm their hearing organs as they are still more sensitive than usually, so they tend to cover them with something.
– Do not have vocal cords, so they cannot speak.
– Are telepathic and communicate via telepathic images and ideas or text.
– Their exoskeleton grants them extra defense, but only in their own atmosphere. In other usual atmospheres the pressure takes this ability away. Can also stand vacuum up to a point.
– Their tentacles are used to absorb several different kinds of energy from the surroundings. They are very sensitive to touch and silencers consider them rather intimate body parts, keeping them away in their ribcages for most of the time, as they can get their needed energy from food also. Inside their ribcage is an energy-processing chamber, which is full of similar fur as is on their tentancles. At the bottom and top of the chamber (near the stomach and neck) are the places where the processed energy enters the bloodstream. Puncturing the chamber is painful and leads to a great need to clean the chamber and tentacles, but has otherwise no effects. Unclean chamber and tentacles eventually poison the silencer and then deactivate and deform the energy processing and absorbing system.
– In the thicker and warmer atmospheres the silencers tend to get much energy from the heat, other energy and substances in the atmosphere, basically terminating their need to eat if they bother to keep extracting, retracting and cleaning their tentacles.
– They can detach and reattach the muscles in their limbs to reconfigure them so that each one of their limbs can be separated into two limbs. This is possible due to the double bones in their upper arms, forearms, thighs and lower legs as well as the special bloodstream and nervous system inside the muscles and bones in their limbs. The limbs are more vulnerable when separated.

Culture

– Have no leader or institutions.
– The only worldwide thing they have is their equivalent of internet. Their internet only consists of educational material, instructions and "news" and other personal information. There are several centers that contain some sort of servers and instructions on how to build a personal "computer".
– Have no crime. They never kill or steal from other people. If a person cannot take care of emself, ey is left to die. Sometimes in bigger communities some people do only one job and exchange their accomplishments or products with other people. If two people have a conflict, they resolve it by themselves by whatever mean they deem practical or ask help from an unconcerned person.
– They are not fanatic or emotional. While emotions can have effect on their performance, they normally nearly never manifest such emotions. They seem very calm and level-headed even to the regenians. While they do like to have friends and partners and can understand some implications of strong emotions like love and fear, they certainly never go over the top with it according to the other species. They can also be surprised and shocked, but only for a short period of time – the thing happened and is, so what?
– They don't give names to anything. All things that are not common are identified by unique personalized pictures, drawn, printed, hologram or telepathical. They also use text and their language, silencer writing, is an a priori language – that is the only kind of language they can establish since they deemed picture languages too impractical. Often their communication is a mix of images and writing, with writing being used for common things and ideas while images are used for names. Needless to say, this creates troubles with the other species, and so those silencers who tend to communicate with the other species have taken to learning verbal communication (even if just in the form of written messages and telepathic communication) and giving themselves names. However, their idea of names is generally slightly off and they tend to form an unpronounceable, long string of letters. While it works for an official record, the other species merely tend to give them nicknames that sound somewhat like the letter combination. Even then they have many difficulties in communication with the other species, but it's most often of an acceptable level.

Stats and special abilities

+1 to TEL/INT/ACC/SPD/CON every two levels. Minimum stats:
HP – 10
CC – 50
TEL – 5
INT – 5
CHA – 1
ACC – 3
SPD – 3
STR – 1
CON – 1
Stat points to be freely distributed: 10

Typical stats:
HP – 10
CC – 60
TEL – 6
INT – 6
CHA – 2
ACC – 6
SPD – 5
STR – 2
CON – 2

Telepathic – Silencers are naturally telepathic and can learn telepathic abilities on their own.

Low pressure origins – Silencers can stand low pressures, even vacuum, and are also slightly more resistant to cold (-10% damage from cold-based attacks). However, high pressure tends to break their bodies, disabling them (+10% damage from any sort of environment with high pressure, cannot dive). This has also made them rather light-weight.

Detachable muscles – Silencers can detach and reattach muscles in their limbs. They have double bones in both their upper arms, forearms, thighs and lower legs. By correctly detaching and reattaching the muscles, they can double the amount of their limbs, resulting in...

Multiple limbs – After correctly reconfiguring their muscles, silencers can have four arms and four legs. The four arms can be used to wield up to four small hand-held weapons simultaneously, however, this reduces the strength of each arm to half and decreases ACC by 20%. The four legs allow much more accurate moving in a very variable terrain, but again reduces the strength of each leg. Running will happen similarly to having only two legs. Can also be done only to one (or two or three if needed) limb.

Mute – Silencers don't have vocal cords and because of their culture and hearing, they can understand very little if any spoken language and have sometimes trouble understanding written language of other species. They communicate via telepathy, mostly images and ideas, though.
