Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. I am beginning a new chapter in my life as an artist. This wiki will be devoted to my drawings of individual men and women that played a roll in the terrible Civil War in the United States in the 1860's. My plan is to create one new drawing per week for a year (50 - 52 drawings in all).

I do ask that you respect this wiki because it holds much personal value, not only for the artwork, but also as a memorial to those brave souls that fought, both the North and the South. Trash-talking will not be tolerated and will be immediately reported.

2011-08-13 [hanhepi]: mort: those were forever ago. it's been months since i got invited to any wiki's as good as those! until i got invited here anyway.

2011-08-13 [Dark Side of the Moon]: The only thing I don't like about the scans here is that all of the really fine detail gets washed out, such as the lines at the corners of their eyes. The faces on the originals are more grey than what these show.

2011-08-13 [hanhepi]: my scanner does that too, but sometimes playing with the settings it will actually pick up some details.

2011-08-13 [Dark Side of the Moon]: Unfortunately, I have to use the photocopier at the office to scan these. It doesn't allow for very much of the finer detail, no matter how much I play with it. :P I might get a digital camera and take photos of the drawings outdoors to see how that looks.

2011-08-13 [hanhepi]: oh, not a personal machine. that does complicate matters.

2011-08-13 [Kyrinn]: digital cameras are a good alternative, I do that too when my scanner decides to be stinky. Just take pictures on a sunny day to get the best clarity. :D

2011-08-13 [Dark Side of the Moon]: Definitely! I have a really good digi-cam that my folks gave me, but darn it all, no one can find the adaptor to re-charge the camera. *sulk*

2012-01-06 [Dark Side of the Moon]: Been away for a while, busy with other commissions. Have a few more to do and will (hopefully) be getting on with this project again. Next up on the board will be Nathan Bedford Forrest and afterward J.E.B. Stuart. Will probably be a month or so before I can get started again but will update soon as I can. :^)
