2003-09-10 [iippo]: hmm, i think i won't be joining that conversation too much... haven't read any of those books and i don't got the time to read -- the literature diploma is pressing on me - badly. but i'll follow the conversation, i guess. or maybe not, depends on how i feel.

2003-09-10 [RiverStar]: well iippo the reason you haven't read any of the books is because i never received a suggestion from you!!!

2003-09-10 [dilandau]: u need the abarat by clive barker

2003-09-10 [Mitul]: Agh, "The Eye of the World" is winning. I wanted to read it, but it's pretty long, I don't have a copy, and I don't have time to start reading yet ANOTHER book...

2003-09-11 [Angel Dreamer]: oh, but its worth reading, i promise

2003-09-11 [iippo]: i know, sorry!! i'm not the sort of suggesting person.... but i'll hang around, follow the conversation, maybe ask questions....

2003-09-12 [RiverStar]: please do! ATTN: one day left for voting!

2003-09-18 [Silversong]: What if we can't get a copy of that book??

2003-09-18 [RiverStar]: hmm...then that could be a problem...

2004-03-28 [iippo]: HOW BOUT STARTING THIS AGEN??? maybe differently this time: we choose a topic and evryone reads a book that fits to that topic, then we tell each other how that topic was seen in the book, read parts of the books n such?

2004-06-20 [tarot reader]: si-fi :)

2004-06-29 [iippo]: si-fi? XD

2005-03-10 [sooty04]: [sooty04] can we talk about a Jacqueline Wilson book next? PLEEEASE

2005-03-11 [iippo]: What is it (about)?

2005-08-08 [iippo]: [Jeed], what's going on?

2005-08-20 [Jeed]: i've done a bit of cleaning around here. alot of these old classes were either pointless, or lacking in content. this one seemed to get no were, so until someone takes it over, its null in void

2005-08-20 [iippo]: Aww, I was hoping you were going to re-start it.

2005-08-21 [Jeed]: i'm thinking of making it more of someone who teaches will read a book, and make like a cliff notes sort of deal with it. becuase a bunch of people picking a book and talking about it wont work for 3 reasons. 1, no one is on at the same times so having a discussion is rather hard. 2, not alot of people are willign to go out and buy the book becuase they may not liek its type. 3. becuase it would take forever to get everyone on the same page. good idea, but not for a internet community class

2005-08-21 [iippo]: I use to take part on a book group in my school where we were given a topic and we would all read a book thatsomehow dealt that topic, then we would discuss the book we chose, compare to others's books, read passages and drink coffee and be cool. :P The teacher would give the topic and make a sheet of questions to look at before coming to the group, and we'd have to prepare answers. It really worked great. And the discussion here would be obviously quite slow, but it would be more organised than live-talk since we'd be able to read the conversation and quote some part that we'd like to comment on, and when everyone finished a certain question, the teacher could post a new one and let the...

2005-08-21 [iippo]: conversation run again, 'til everyone finished. We had topics like 'sexuality', 'nature', 'landscape and it's part in storytelling', 'death', 'hero', 'fairytale', ect... The discussion sometimes drifted away from books and we talked about all life and it was really excellent. That group really made me want to never graduate from upper secondary school.

2005-08-22 [Jeed]: but is it really proper for internet use. its good when you have people that come and are committed to it, but on here, we're lucky that anyone comes here at all. let alone having people go out and get books and do that
