You do know the Danger Room... don't you?

X-Men Danger Room History
Friday, October 1st
As you enter, the Danger Room looks as it has never looked before. The room has been transfigured into an enormous Colosseum. The center arena, where the fighting is to take place, is covered in sand and dirt, looking very natural and easy on the feet, while the seats rose up from it in progressively larger and larger circles until it reached the top, where it looked to be a rather nice day. There were a few stairs leading to the first row of seats, obviously intended for the students to sit there.
Xavier's voice was then heard announcing, "
Flame and Korvka to the arena please."
Michael stood up and walked over to Daniela. "I didn't hurt you did I? Can I help you back to your seat? he asked after seeing her holding her knee.
"Huh?" A brow rosed on
Flame's face, it was their turn already? Sitting up she stretched her arms out above her head, leaning her neck this way and that to warm up her muscles. With a groan she pushed herself up off the seat, shooting a wink back to Vlad as she slipped out of the seating area and into the arena itself. Once there she shifted her weight to ready the muscles and joints of her legs and hips, loosening the strap of her knife sheath a little as she grinned at Korvka.
'Jeezum petes, what
are those things?'
Valerie inquired aloud to no one, as she saw the sphere enclose Michael's head. As the fight was called, Val sat back into her seat, crossing her legs at the ankles, hands folded tidily in her lap, and waited for Flame and Korvka's bout to commence.
Korvka watched as the fight was over, impressed as usual with the powers of her classmates. When she heard her name, she looked up suddenly, as if she had forgotten, and a wide grin came over her face as she looked over at Flame. She was happy to be sparring against her friend, but still hadn't thought of any ways she could overcome Flame's scales or her claws, rendering her vines useless. Still she was excited for the spar and made her way down to the arena, where Michael and Daniela were still clearing off. "Nice job, guys," she said as
she grabbed her scythe from its holster on her thigh and opened it up, pushing the button so that the spring blade came out, sharp and shining.
"I'll be fine." replied
Daniela with slight smile as Michael approached to check on her, she stood up trying not to put much weight on her injured leg, though it was only a small bruise. After a few limps, she could walk normally again. "I can just walk it off, see?" she said once more to Michael, turning back to the boy. "Good fight, thank you!" she said with a smile, then headed back to her seat, though she still considered she had been beaten, it had been a useful experience. Nevertheless, she wished no guy ever pinned her to the ground again.
Alexis had been a little surprised by how the match turned out, he had been expecting Daniela to win once she had put Michael into the shield. But he figured as her powers were stamina based she could only do so much. He watched as the two made it back to their seats and he watched Flame and Korvka make their ways to the center of the ring. He didn't know either of them very well. He had had the one mission with Flame and she seemed alright, she was very in control of her emotions which was a plus to him. Korvka on the other hand, he didn't know at all, and she was always acting her emotions out to the T. He shook his head as he started weighing the two in his mind as to who would win, and as he didn't know either powers. He was missing variables. "Well...this should at least be interesting...
"
Michael nodded to Daniela as she made her comments about walking it off. "Well, I want to walk you back to your seat to make sure you don't fall," he said. He walked her back to her seat and with a smile said, "We'll see you around." He turned around and went to his own seat over by White, eager to see the match between Flame and Korvka.
Shana returned to sitting when the fight was called and sighed with relief once she saw Daniela was OK and could walk properly. She stuck her bottom lip out childishly, almost playfully, when Michael came to Daniela's spot. She looked to Daniela when Michael had gone and she had retaken her seat. "Good job, that was intense," she told Daniela with a grin, reaching up to knock some sand out of the girl's hair and off her shoulder. "Kinda messy..."
"Um, good fight", said White to Michael when he returned to his seat. She didn't get to see much of any powers he had, as he seemed too concerned about Daniela to even use them, but it was interesting to see how Daniela managed to defend herself fairly well. She was getting nervous and worried about what was she going to do when she had to face Shade.
"That was...interesting," Nicole said to Daniela. She gave the girl a small smile and looked at the arena, which was being completely torn apart. There was sand everywhere, even in the stands, and a few places where she could see holes from people's bodies. Nic was anxious for her match, but not if it meant she was going to be tackled into the sand as it seemed all the other girls were being.
Ignoring everything else around them and keeping her focus just on Korvka Flame drew her lips back in a vicious grin, showing off her sharpened teeth. "I think you might have the advantage. If I knew I was against you to begin with, I would of whined about wanting pavement under our feet instead." But there was plenty of humour in her voice as she eyed the other girls weapon.
Focused as she was, Korvka couldn't hear anything but Flame's voice as she stepped to the center of the arena. She laughed a bit when Flame mentioned having the advantage, a smirk coloring the sound a bit darker than usual. "I'll need all the help I can get against your scales," she replied, stooping down to paw at some of the dirt to see what the state of it was like. Mostly sand, Korvka figured that at least Flame wasn't likely to rip any plants she tried to grow out of the ground, like Michael had done last fight. Standing, she cracked her neck and waited for the go.
Scott stepped forward and looked at both of the girls to make sure that they were ready before saying, "BEGIN!"
That was all Flame needed, digging her toes into the sand for any extra grip she could get as she rushed at Korvka, trying to cover the distance between them as quick as she can. She kept her hands back and by her sides as she ran, reducing the chance of her nails catching on anything which might slow her charge, until she was within arm reach of the girl. Twisting her body to throw the momentum of her run as well as her weight into the hit Flame swiped her hand up towards Korvka’s chest, aiming for her nails to slash across her uniform.
Daniela smiled to Michael as he walked her to her seat, then turned to the people who met her warmly there. "Thanks everyone." she said. "Hope I didn't suck too bad." she added with a chuckle. "Oh yeah, I think I spent more time down in the sand than standing up." she sighed as Shana dusted her off.
Korvka watched as Flame began to charge her, her smirk replaced with a grimace of determination. The speed of the girl caught her a little off guard but she was glad to know it so early into the fight that she'd be sparring against someone quick. She grit her teeth and dug her heels into the sandy arena floor as Flame came at her, holding her scythe at the ready. When Flame approached, Korvka brought her scythe up to block the swipe, the only move she had time enough to make.
As Flame approached, her nails did indeed sink into some of the material of Korvka's uniform, slashing away from the lower ribcage! However, Korvka's scythe managed to block the attack from progressing further and kept Flame's dangerous nails at bay! The force of the hit sent Korvka back a few feet, her boots making lines in the sand as she managed to throw off Flame's claws.
Giving her hand a shake to get rid of the jarring sensation from how Korvka stopped her strike Flame smirked at the girl. “Sorry, I know how annoying it is to tear a new outfit, one reason I wear so little.” Keeping on the aggressive side, once back on balance she kicked up a foot towards Korvka, not aiming to hit her, but to throw a spray of sand towards the girls face as a distraction.
Korvka grinned at the scaled woman. "Don't vorry, I'm pretty sure Professor vill fix it," she said as she attempted to duck the kick and started running backwards, keeping her eyes on her opponent. Rubbing some sand from her eyes, Korvka had put some distance between the two of them and then squatted to the ground and reached into one of the pouches on her belt to access the minerals that hung there. She then held her hand out and a rock began to form above her palm, as if years were passing in fast forward, the rock got larger and more jagged relatively quickly until it was about the size of a brick. With an eye on Flame, Korvka stood up again and tried to propel the rock towards Flame.
Flame's kick managed to get some sand in Korvka's eye that would cause irritation, but Korvka was able to back away to put some distance between them. Her rock formed well enough and she propelled it at Flame! The rock struck the scaled girl on the shoulder, scraping a few scales off and knocking her on her duff!
With a grunt as she landed on the sand, as well as the hit to her shoulder, Flame allowed the momentum of her fall to roll backwards over her shoulders, crouching back on her feet and low to the ground. She have the hit shoulder a roll to check it was ok as she figured out her next move, again knowing she was at the disadvantage since her powers did not aid her at all, and she would have to get close to attack. But then again, that was her style, right in your face. Using her crouched position to help propel herself forwards, she pushed off the ground, aiming to take Korvka down with a shoulder tackle.
Korvka watched Flame carefully, figuring that Flame was going to need to get close again. With one hand in the pouch of minerals, Korvka hooked her scythe along the holster at her back. She had a plan - not necessarily a very good one, but it was as well as she could figure with the time she had. As the red-scaled-woman came to tackle her, the Russian took the hit and then wrapped her arms around Flame, holding her palm flat against her back. With her hand still in her mineral pouch, Korvka began to form a sharp point of stone to hopefully penetrate the durable scales on Flame's back and inflict some damage.
Flame's hit was well placed, and she took Korvka to the ground without any issue. Air rushed through Korvka's gritted teeth as the wind was knocked completely out of her, leaving her to gasp a bit. However, Korvka's sharp stone manage to grow and began to pierce the scales of Flame's back! The two were on the ground, with the wind knocked out of one and a bit of blood coming to the surface of the other. The wound was not serious, only bleeding because the stone had penetrated the scales.
Cringing at the sudden sharp pain compared to the ache from hitting Korvka and the ground again with the tackle Flame released one of her arms from around the girl to reach back and try and grab at whatever she had shoved into her back. "Ow, now this is just playing mean." A smile in place with those words.
Gasping to regain her breath, Korvka just grunted her laugh as she clung closer to Flame, trying to dig the stone in further. "I know, but you fucked up my outfit!" she replied with a grin. With her scythe in its holster at her back, there was no way should could reach it so Korvka clung to her makeshift blade. Then, she wrapped her legs around Flame's torso and brought her head forward, to headbutt the scaly girl and hopefully manage to disorient her enough to get free.
Flame reached back and felt the stone, but Korvka held on and kept it in place. However, the Russian's headbutt was a poor idea because she did not take into account the roughness of Flame's scales! Korvka's head crashed into Flame's, sending both their eyes whirling (thought you couldn't notice Flame's), but Korvka sustained several scratches on her forehead that began to bleed and run into her hair as her head hit the floor of the arena to recover!
Pressing her eyes closed tight to try and force the effects of the headbutt off her Flame reopened her eyes, only to end up laughing at Korvka. "You did more damage to yourself than you did to me!" Her laughter contiued with an occasional 'ow' from the stone cutting into her, still trying to angle her arm back to lever some of force behind the stone off her back.
Valerie looked entirely uncomfortable in her seat. To her, this seemed to be the most brutal of the spars so far, with the rocks, scales and blood.
"NO SHIT!" Korvka shouted, seemingly having forgotten that she and Flame were very close and there was no need for such volume. With an iron grip on the stone, she tried to dig it in further as she clenched her eyes shut until they stopped spinning in their sockets. Her other hand, still in the pouch, realized that she was quickly running out of minerals and was not going to be able to form another stone if she needed to. Pulling her fingers from the pouch, Korvka dug her hand into the sand and dirt and began to grow a wild grape vine that grew relatively thick from the ground and snaked quickly towards Flame's leg to coil around. Perhaps if she had the chance, she could divert Flame's attention and get away!
Korvka tried to keep the stone in Flame's back, but the knock to her head gave Flame the perfect chance to push the Russian's hand away, leaving an open wound that would heal in a few days without any issue, as would the bleeding marks on Korvka's face. The grape vine took hold into the sandy ground and indeed made its way to Flame's ankle, where it wrapped around like a rough snake!
"COME ON KORVKA!" Michael shouted from his seat. He stood up from his seat to get a better view. "She can do better than this, I know it," he said to White beside him. "She could have killed me yesterday, I am sure she could do the same to her today."
A glance out of the corner of her eye to what excatly was wrapping around her leg Flame realised she had to finish this match soon, before Korvka got the environment on her side... but she really didn't want to hurt the girl. "Look, I really wanted to duke it out, I'm a fighter after all, but I still don't want to hurt you... that much. If you were an attacker with being this close to me, I would of already tried to tear your throat out." Drawing her lips back again to show her teeth to strengthen her point as she dropped her free hand down to slip her knife out of her sheath, in case she had to cut herself free from the plant. "At this point, I'm considering just breaking your nose instead."
Vlad watched from his seat, slightly on edge to anyone who knew the big guy to normally be a laid back and carefree sort. He was definitely not going to cheer for anyone in this fight - that would only irritate one of the two women grappling and bleeding on the arena floor, and he was certain that he didn't want either of them mad at him what with their powers and tempers. However, he also didn't want either of them hurt. As he watched Korvka headbutt Flame, he groaned and put his head in his hand for a moment. "Damn hothead," he muttered. He was going to have to have a word with Flame about that strategic missing part of his sister's uniform.
Alexis had moved himself forward in his seat intent on this match. By the looks of it Korvka could form plants and minerals in some way, either by absorbing them and reshaping them or in another way. Flame on the other hand was scaly, red, and was an experienced fighter. Alexis watched as both wounded the other and he smiled at the though of some idiotic psycho headbutting Flame and knocking himself unconscious. He gripped his seat before bringing his hands up to cup them around his mouth, "COME ON KORVKA! COME ON FLAME! SHOW US WHAT YOUR MADE OF!!!"
"Fat chance," Korvka interrupted the long string of Flame's speech by shoving her hand into Flame's mouth. She was risking a lot, she knew, with her hand in between those two rows of sharp teeth, but clutched in her hand was the final weapon: a bhut jolokia, the hottest pepper in the world. She broke open the pepper quickly and then drew her hand out of Flame's mouth to let the effects of the pepper set in.
Flame's words were cut off as Korvka forced her hand into the scaled woman's mouth, sustaining several deep cuts that began to bleed and roll down her arm. However, she managed to get the pepper into Flame's mouth and broke it open on one of Flame's deadly teeth, letting the hotness seep into her mouth! Pulling out her hand caused even more damage to Korvka, and she clutched it to her body to try and stop some of the blood flow. However, Flame was now under the effects of the pepper! Her eyes began to water quickly, her nose ran, and her mouth and throat felt as if they were on fire!
Seeing the amount of blood that Korvka was losing, Jean stepped forward and shouted "FIGHT OVER!"
Michael was still standing as Jean called the fight. He saw an incredible amount of blood flowing down Korvka's arm and his stomach twisted in anxiety and concern. He glanced over at Vlad to see his face before turning to the teachers. He was unsure as to what he should do. His mind fought over rushing to her side, out of loyalty to her, or letting the teachers handle the situation, as to do otherwise shows distrust in them and may shame him. "Screw this," he said as he lept over the wall and made his way to Korvka. "I know they probably have the situation under control, but my loyalty to you is greater than it is to them," he said as he knelt by her side. "You ok?"
Valerie watched the remainder of the fight similarly to how she watched Zombieland the week prior: Through closed eyes. When she heard Jean call the match, her hands stayed over her face, but she did carefully peek through her fingers before asking in a frightfully tiny voice, '... are they okay?'
White's eyes were wide almost in shock as she watched the blood on the arena and the wounded girls. Her hands were holding tight to her seat, as she prayed she wouldn't have to go through something like that today. She looked curiously as Michael jumped over the wall and rushed towards Korvka, but stayed frozen where she was.
Once free from Korvka's hold Flame pushed herself away, on all fours as she coughed and hacked, spitting mouthfuls of saliva out to try and clear her mouth, and to try and stop herself from throwing up. That was just dirty play! And what annoyed her more was it wasn't from her. She should have just broken the girls nose and been done with it, she was being too soft. "Bitch!" She got out between her choking sounds.
"Vell I had to try something! It's not like I didn't get hurt either!" Korvka replied as she looked down at her hand and saw the blood. She grimaced but was pleased that her tactic had worked, even if she had to use it on her friend, whom she hoped would get over it sooner or later. However, as she looked over to the girl and saw her spluttering and coughing, Korvka began to feel remorse for having used the idea on the one girl she could call a friend in the mansion. "I can get you some dairy, that counteracts with the capsaicin in the pepper," she offered to Flame. Looking up, she saw Michael coming over to her and nodded her head a little, blood clinging to her forehead. "I'll be fine," she called out loud enough for the teachers to hear too. By now the scratches on her face were beginning to scab and the tear on her uniform was the least of her worries as she clutched her hand. Holding the bloody palm flat, she began to grow some large leaves that coiled around her hand in a sort of makeshift bandage. However, it was growing much slower than usual because of the blood loss and Korvka growled and tried the other hand. She managed to get enough leaves around the wound so that she wasn't dripping blood anymore and stood up, shaking dirt and sand from her wild curls.
"Korvka, I think you should go see Dr. McCoy. Flame, we will send for some dairy for you straight away and Michael, you may escort Ms. Shostakovich if you would like." Jean suggested calmly.
Most of this went ignored by Flame, as she dry retched while trying to get to her feet. In between the convulsions of her stomach and throat she let loose a string of rather colourful language, which while those who had been around her for awhile no doubt would be used to from her, the new kids maybe not so.
Michael stood beside Korvka, watching Flame convulse on the sandy floor. She's got a bit of a filthy mouth, he thought to himself. He turned to Jean and nodded. "With pleasure, Ms. Grey. And I meant no insult to you or the other teachers by coming to Korvka's side, just concern for her well-being." He turned back to Korvka with a smile. "Should I walk beside you? Or carry you?" he said with a wink.
Daniela could not help but cringe at the bloody and violent fight, she was glad she had not been the one facing either Korvka OR Flame. Seeing Flame retching on the ground, she almost felt like going over to help somehow, she felt a modicum of loyalty towards the older girl, being in the same team and all. Then she heard Jean mention milk, she remembered it's supposed to help with spicy stuff, though it would be best if they hurried, chili hot enough could burn holes in people's stomachs and cause dangerous ulcers in their throat. Swallowing her pride and fear, she instead stood up and looked straight at Shade with pleading eyes for a second.
Shade watched through the fight with a smile in his face, he was thinking it was like a gladiatorial fight, but it was actually more like two dogs going at each other's throats, gladiators had SOME brains when it came to fighting. As the fight reached a bloody finale, he saw Michael rush towards the arena and chuckled seeing him play knight in shining armor for Korvka while Flame suffered in the ground. "Talk about thinking with your dick." he thought. It was the kind of people that annoyed him the most, playing noble and actually believing it themselves, all while their intentions and motivations became so clear they stunk of it. "Gimli sure is popular." he continued, he was surprised she didn't have a regeneration factor, though, it was the superpower equivalent of the name John Smith. When Daniela looked straight at him, his grin grew from ear to ear, he looked back at the girl and mouthed "You owe me" without actually saying it or emitting noise. Then he placed his hand over the chair next to him and shadowported a carton of cold milk from the upstairs fridge, barely within his range. "Oh Jeaaan!" he called out innocently, holding the milk up.
"Well, damn," Shana spoke after staring intently at the fight and its results. She sighed at Flame's use of vocabulary and sat back in her chair, still looking on at the bloody and vomit-covered arena. "Gorey," she uttered, entertained by the sights. She looked at Daniela when she abruptly stood up. "Uhh.." She followed Daniela's line of vision to where Shade was sitting, her brow furrowing when she saw Shade's lips move. "That seems a little sinister," she said, looking back up to Daniela. She wasn't sure what Daniela owed Shade, but she figured it wouldn't be anything good.
Light leaned back into her seat when the fight was finished, joyously (though not visibly) taking in the wretched scene in the arena. She loved a good, bloody fight, even a cat fight; they always put her in a good mood. She rolled her eyes when the big man made his way into the middle, and when the other students attempted to help. "Damn kids will never learn to defend themselves if they always have someone picking them up and rubbing their back when they fall and scrape their knee," she said loud enough for those around her to hear. She crossed her arms and closed her eyes, head down.
Jean looked up to Shade and nodded. "Thank you," she said aloud and used her telekinesis to float the carton of milk into her hand. She rushed over to Flame and put a hand on her shoulder. "Here, this will help."
Vlad looked up and shook his head, looking over the railing with an unreadable expression. He knew that Korvka would eventually be all right, but the sight of her losing so much blood made his older brother instincts kick in, even it she was the cause. Then there was Flame, who appeared to be quite less physically harmed but was coughing and heaving after whatever Korvka had shoved in her trap. "FLAME! You all right?!" he asked with concern as the fight ended. His focus was torn between the two girls until Michael hopped the railing and went dashing over towards his sister in her slightly ruined uniform. His eyes narrowed and he seemed to be thinking along the same lines as Shade as he shouted out instinctively, "WATCH IT, HAIRY!" Seeing Jean rush over with the milk, seemingly out of nowhere (since he was too zeroed in on the arena to notice the exchange between Shade and Jean), Vlad stood up to get a better view, gripping the railing hard enough to start crushing it in his hands.
Looking up to the tall boy, Korvka shook her head. "I can volk fine," she said dismissively as she looked at her hand. The last thing she wanted to do was head to the infirmary and she looked at Scott and Logan as Jean attended to Flame, pleading somewhat. "But I'll miss the next fight! It'll stop bleeding ---"
"Don't be stupid," Logan scoffed. "You need to have it cleaned anyway, now git to the infirmary!"
Grunting her reply, Korvka walked out of the Danger Room and into X-Men Hall Complex.
Xavier's voice was then heard, calling for "Shade and White" to "take the arena."
Between Vlad on one side, who was shouting and destroying school property, and Shade, who seemed to be moonlighting as a milkman with miraculously floating glasses of dairy product, Valerie felt a little overwhelmed. She watched after Korvka as she left, and only briefly looked to Flame, who was alternately cursing and heaving on the arena floor. When she heard Xavier announce the next round, Val looked down the row of seats for White.
Grabbing the milk carton as soon as it got near Flame ripped the top of it open, guzzling the first few mouthfuls down as fast as she could. It took a minor edge off the burning, enough for her to at least slow her drinking and try and use the milk to wash away what was left in her mouth. With a muttered 'Thanks' to Jean she made her way back to the seating, swished the milk around in her mouth as if it was mouth wash, spitting it out onto the dirt before taking her seat again. "Holy fucking christ that hurts! Be easier just to cut my tongue and insides of my mouth out."
Aidan sat back in his seat, placing his right hadn behind his head, "Well, that was one 'eck of a nasty fight, eh?" He said, not really speaking to anyone. He slowly began to rub the base of his neck as he watched over the bit of clean up going on in the arena. I really hope my fight doesn't end up like that. He looked over to Vlad, whose blood was clearly boiling at this point. The scrawny Irishman was far from wanting to fight the much larger and much angrier Russian at this point, but he was hoping that things would settle down quickly.
Summer had sat back in the chair, tilting her head back towards the ceiling of the danger room, "I've seen rodeos that we're bloodier than this." She said with a nervous laugh. She tried to cover up her slightly obvious disgustedness over the blood and vomit, but she wasn't about to let it show really easily.
Michael heard Vlad's cry, and was rather confused. Then it clicked for him. He was overprotective of his own tribe, so it only made sense for Vlad to be overprotective of his sister. He would have to have a chat with the man later on and explain how his own mind worked. He looked at Vlad and still determinedly followed Korvka out into X-Men Hall Complex.
If she could have turned any paler, White would have when she heard her name was being called. She pulled herself together though and gathered courage to stand up and go to the middle of the arena, trying not to look as scared as she really was and ignore the blood on the floor.
Xavier searched for Shade's mind and reiterated what he had said at the start of the spars. "You may not seriously harm her. These spars are for learning, not showmanship. That said, I do want you to help her learn, but do not take it too far, Shade."
Alexis had done his best to ignore the growing pains on his forehead and hand as he fight had ended. His hand felt itchy and his forehead was pounding. There was a slight burning sensation on his tongue but that didn't bother him all that much. He had been truly startled by the end of the fight. He hadn't expected Korvka to do that. It was a risky tactic, but it had worked in the end. He looked around for Korvka so he could offer to heal her, but Flame had just returned to her seat, and he remembered he she had gotten stabbed in the back a little, he could heal it and her scorched tongue if she wanted it, he just had to ask first. "Flame?"
"Yeah yeah..." said Shade with a bored expression on his face as he stood up and put his hands into the pockets of his jacket. Then he melded into the shadows on the floor quickly and emerged in the arena. He couldn't teleport right in the middle, it was too well illuminated, but the edges were dark enough. Walking to the middle, he stood across from White. "Top of the morning to you, Miss." he said politely with a slight bow. "Lesee... albino girl, white uniform... knowing good old Charles he must have picked someone with a power designed almost specifically to mess with mine, so I'm guessing light or maybe lasers? right?" he chuckled as he walked a long circle around White, while keeping his distance. It was reminiscent of a wolf walking around a deer.
