Morgan walked down and looked around. Seeing that no one was in the room, she put some coins in a video game and started to play.
Joss walked in, munching on an apple.
Morgan started to type in her initials, "High score baby..." She didn't realize that Joss walked in.
Joss stood behind her and watched. He began to eat the core of his apple as if it where nothing.
When
Morgan heard him bite into an apple, she forced herself onto the machine with a loud THUNK. "JEEZ! You scared the crap out of me!"
She suprised him and
Joss choked on his bite of apple. He began coughing.
"Ohmygod Ohmygod...are you ok?"
Morgan asked, placing her hands on his shoulders. She was worried that he was choking.
"Ack!"
Joss coughed "Yeah." He wheezed "I'm ok..."
"You sure?"
Morgan asked, keeping her hands on his shoulders. She angled her head to meet eyes with his.
Joss stood up "Yeah." He cleared his throat "You just surprised me."
Morgan couldn't help but laugh when she found out he was ok. "Your the one who snuck up on me."
"I didn't mean to."
Joss said "I just didn't want to distract you. You'd said you'd gotten a high score."
Morgan kept her laugh. "Yea, but it's fine." She took a deep breath, "Gah...my heartbeat is still up." She looked down at the apple he was eating, "May I?"
"Sure." He said handing her what was left of his apple. "Sorry there is only core left."
"Yea right...there is still some here."
Morgan said, scraping some apple left from the core. "I didn't have breakfast yet."
"I thought you had, I just grabbed this on the way."
Joss said "You want to go have a proper breakfast?"
"Nah, I'm not all that hungry anyways...just a little snack, you know?"
Morgan said before finishing the apple completely now. "What do you want to do today?"
Joss shrugged "I go where you go." He said with a smile
"Aww...really?
" Morgan asked, tossing the core into a trash can.
Joss shrugged "It's usually true."
"Oh." Morgan frowned, "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to like, control you or anything like that."
Joss shook his head "I tend to go where I'm most welcome and comfortable." He shrugged "That's with you..."
"If you keep talking sweet like that, I'm going to have to assume that it's a proposal next time." Morgan told him with a smile. She nudged his arm, letting him know she was kidding.
Joss chuckled and wondered how such a union would bear on his family...
"Oh come on! It's not that funny." Morgan laughed with him, bumping him over with her hip.
Joss smiled and thought against bumping her back.
Jayn ran frantically threw the rec room with the egg's harnis in his hands. "Have you seen? The ... HELP!!"
Morgan's attention shifted to the teacher's calls, "The what?" she asked. She heard roomers about the teachers with the alien egg, but hadn't really encountered them much.
Joss looked at Mr. Relman then realized. He'd seen him in the halls with an egg "Did you loose your egg Mr. Relman?"
Jayn was half frantic "Yes, it teleported again. Somehow out of the harnis Hank- Dr. McCoy made for it."
Morgan placed her two index fingers up to her forehead, in a saluting pose, "I will help."
Jayn Clutched Morgn's shoulders "Thank you!'
"Where have you looked already Mr. Relman?" Joss asked
Morgan moved her glasses from her head to in front of her nose. She got down into a 'ready to run' stance. She waited for his reply.
"The danger room, the lower levels, the dorms, the broom closets, the cubpoards, the grounds, the forest." Jayn said distraught. "Kari and I have searched all morning.'
"Find it yet?!" Kari asked loudly, running into the room and to her husband. She was clearly frantic and worried.
"Check the roof?" Morgan asked.
"Just got back from the roof. Not there..." Kari answered.
"Wasn't there a temperature devise on the egg" Joss asked "I can probbly hear the frequency."
"I believe so, it was....please try." Kari pleaded.
joss closed his eyes and pricked his ears. He concentrated, filtering threw all the different sounds in teh school until he finay found the one frequency different from the rest. "Your bedroom closet." he said once he'd found the sound
"Ohmygosh!" Kari said quickly before latching herself onto Jayn. She had done this so many times that he knew by now that she wanted her to teleport them.
Morgan smiled and leaned on him with her arm resting on his shoulder. She wasn't one to get nervous around guys at all or to act upon her instincts. If her actions offended or made Joss feel odd, he obviously wasn't the guy for her. "You sure are good at whatcha do."
Joss smiled and shrugged " Thanks
Jayn teleported threw the fire relm and appeared a moment later holding the egg. "Phew... Thanks you two."
"The disappearances seem to be happening more frequently." Kari said with a hand on her chin.
"Maybe it's about to hatch." Joss said
"I'de imagine so." Kari replied. She smiled brightly and clasped her hands, "I can't wait. You think we are ready?"
Jayn Exhaled loudly "we won;t know till we find out." he replied running his hands threw his red flaming hair.
Kari wrapped the egg in a yellow blanket that she had made. "Maybe we should stop slacking and think of a name?"
"How?" Jayn asked"We don't know if it's a boy or girl yet."
"Shouldn't we at least have ideas for both? But...hmm...maybe is would be better to wait a little longer. We can determine the name when we see his or her face." Kari smirked
"I vote for that." Jayn answered "It's much easier when you see them... I assume.'
Morgan was looking at the egg up and down, "Dang...must've hurt to squeeze that one out."
"Wasn't all that bad really. I don't see how Earthlings can do that whole 'live birth thing'. Too lumpy..." Kari admitted.
"Umm.....ok...." Morgan muttered with an odd expression.
"Well we should be going, thanks a lot you two." Kari smiled and took Jayn in her arm. The two went up to their room, minding the egg.
"have fun you lovebirds." Jayn grinned devilishly following Kari
"Love birds..." Joss said slowly.
Morgan turned to her side at noticed Joss's expression. She leaned in and poked his shoulder. "What are you thinking?" she asked with a tone that sounded like she already knew.
From deep within the mansion Mort's muffled yell of "SHE'S HUMAN AGAIN!" could be heard.
"What the hell was that?" Morgan asked.
Saved by the frantic scream Joss thought and grabbed Morgan's arm taking them to the entrance hall.
"Woa!" Morgan muttered as she was taken away to the main entrance hall
Morgan came back in a few hours later with Joss's hand in hers. "No one else is here yet."
Amy and Mort came in too.
Crys walked in, following steps behind Arthur.
Joss pulled out a chair for Morgan
"Thank you." Morgan smiled to Joss before sitting down. "What do you think is going on?"
Crys flopped down on the couch. "I'm betting some super villian is attacking somewhere and they're needed."
"Dang...that's gotta be so cool." Morgan scooted over a little and patted the cousin for Joss to sit closely next to her.
Crys nodded to Morgan. "Maybe we'll get to go sometime."
"I think we're gonna have to get used to this." Joss said "BUt why do you think they wanted us ll in the rec room?"
Morgan thought for a moment, "You don't think that villain would like...come here, do you? If that's the case, then that might be why they want us together."
"BUt why the rec room? Wouldn't it make more sense for us to go down to all that stuff in the basement?" Crys asked curiously. "I mean seriously, this room isn't really that special, is it?"
"Your kidding right?" Morgan pointed her thumb back, "We got an air hockey table."
"Oh that'll save us from the Sentinels." Crys said, reminding them of their recent danger room session.
"It might save us better then your boyfriend did." Morgan reminded her back.
Joss gasped hearing Morgan's return.
"Oh? And who's idea was it anyway? I remember Artie being the one who came up with the battle plan!" Crys contorted
"Oh?" Morgan stood with clenched fists, "At least WE were brave enough to try it! You just sat in that comfy room and watched!"
"It's not like it was a REAL simulation anyway! Nobody wins on the first try. Mrs. Smith said so!" Crys said, sticking her tongue out
"So?!" Morgan grit her teeth for a moment, "That's an even bigger reason for you to have just tried it!"
"So what if I didn't try it? It's a saturday! It's not like we were being graded on it or anything." Crys said with a shrug
Arthur winced as the girls fought. Sighing he marched over between them "Now's not the time for this" he said, his voice impatiant "And may I remind you that Crys here can turn video games real? IF something happens all we've got to do is run to the back of the room and Crys can pull out some thing to protect us. That means it is GOOD she didn't tire herself out in the danger room."
Mort watched from beside the door, his face blank as he thought to himself Why shouldn't I go out there and help? I cant die... they need someone like me out there if it's these robots thingies this lot are talking about.
Amy sat on an empty couch and sat content.
"Tire herself? She doesn't even do any work herself? All she does is let her little puny characters do it all!" Morgan shouted. Crys aggravated her enough without Arthur. She took a breath and sat back on the couch that she was originally. "Sorry about this, Joss."
"Yeah, and I do all the work" Arthur sighed, grabbing one tentacle that Locks had stroked his arm with. He felt useless, he didn't do anything himself.
"Yikes." Amy said from afar in observation.
David entered, carrying Java in his arms. The first thing he did was find an empty couch and lay her down on it carefully.
Arthur looked around as David walked in, his eyebrows raising out of shock at Java's condition "Did she meet whatever's out there?"
Joss sat quietly as the girls argued.
Morgan threw herself down on the chair next to Joss and grumbled a little bit with folded arms.
Finding his talent of not being noticed useful yet again Mort began to creep sideways towards the door.
Amy watched her boyfriend silently, curious as to what he was doing. She adjusted her glasses on her nose.
Not noticing that he was being watched Mort opened the door silently and stepped outside into the entrance hall.
Crys stared at Morgan with a look of aggitation. Just because she ran fast she thought that made her so special?? Crys pulled her gameboy out of it's holster and waved the Pacman cartridge in front of her. "Yeah remember this, Morgan? Who was it that destroyed that psycho Danger thingy before? My Pacman did it, not your stupid little speedy feet."
"Stupid....little speedy feet?" Morgan mocked her in Joss's direction, "Aww..isn't she cute? Trying to talk to the big grow'ed ups?"
"It would work better if you didn't use the baby voice" Arthur sighed, rubbing his head and walking away I wonder if death is so bad....
Joselyn was right behind David. Once Java had been comfortably situated on a couch she tucked Harold into her arms and then looked at David. "I hope this day is a complete abnormal day. I don't think I'd be able to handle this kind of thing every day at the school," she said.
"Hmph....whatever. She still didn't do anything on her own." Morgan reminded.
David had shaked his head at Arthur when he asked his question, answering in the negative. He knelt down next to Java and looked up at Joselyn with a smile. "It'll be OK," he said.
"You weren't here the first day," Joselyn said, sitting on the arm of the couch and looking down at Java. Noticing a stray hair she brushed it out of her friend's face and looked at David. "The training simulator, it attacked all of us. It's almost as if the universe is continuously attempting to wipe out everyone in this school. Makes me wonder if just hiding out in the real world would be loads safer than congregating here." She bit her lower lip and looked over at the door. A part of her wanted to sneak out and get a look at what was trying to kill them this time, while the other bit wanted to stay with David and Java.
David looked back over at Java. He noticed she hadn't mentioned anything particularly horrifying came of that first incident, and that only backed up his claim that things would be OK, but he kept his mouth shut, sitting quiety for a moment before taking his first actual look around the room to see what was going on.
Kari walked in the room wearing her X-suit and holding her precious egg that was wrapped in a yellow thermo-blanket. Knowing that Del would be on her way, she placed her fingers in her mouth and blew loudly. Her whistle almost shook the room.
Arthur winced, though Locks had absorbed most of the sound by wrapping around his head "Has it started?" he said at once.
Morgan's winced and looked to the teacher that just entered.
"Listen up humans!" Kari shouted so everyone could hear. She turned to the door she had just entered in from, waiting for Del.
"Gahhh!" del winced. She was leading mort back into the rec room and was being followed by Kurt. "We need to have a "Loud noises around pregnant feral chicks" conversation." She steered Mort into a seat.
Mort growled impatiently as his toe bones followed behind him, he'd been trying to dig them into the floor "Let me help..."
Laura entered the rec room and stood against the wall in her usual stoic way.
"You will be helping." Del told Mort "Just listen... Take it Kari."
"Alright...here is the bad news: Basically we've got a huge, indestructible robot from the future coming here to destroy us all. It was really made to keep us safe but it got damaged and is now programmed to do the opposite. But don't panic, this is the safest place we can be right now. You guys are top priority so don't do anything stupid. This place is on complete lock down." Kari explained. She knew that Cerebra was really the safest, but she thought it better not to tell the students. "But the good news is that the air hockey tables still work."
"Yes!" Morgan raised her arms, "I knew it!"
"Big... robot" Arthur whimpered "Im dead... so so dead." He went over and slumpt against a wall "Really really dead."
"um... Should we worry?" Joss asked
"Not at all." Delaney lied. She figured telling the students the truth would make them panick. "We've got the smartest scientist in the world working on this thing. He's working with Forge who created the robot. The thing is is that our Forge hasn;t created the robot yet. It's just going to take them a minuet or two to figure this thing out... We'll be fine."
"Think of it as a fire alarm." Kari told them, "Wait....doesn't one go outside for those? Oh! Tornado alarm! That's better."
Laura crossed her arms and chuckeled silently.
A small voice from the now ball of hair that contained Arthur mumbled "Die horribly..."
"Oh shut up Arthur." Morgan told him, "Stop your sniveling."
"Leave him alone Morgan!" Crys defended her friend, wrapping an arm around him in comfort.
Kurt walked in and quickly surveyed the situation. "Alright, so everyone knows what's going on yes? Here's the plan. We're staying here and worst case senario, we'll be leaving rather quickly, by a way most of you have never encountered before. So stay close together, I don't want any repeats of the last time I took a crowd with me..." He looked sideways at his wife, he was still beating himself up over losing her mother in the shadow realm.
"It'll be about ten more minetes until the atta-I mean drill." Kari smiled at them.
Morgan quickly ran to a vending machine, bought something and ran back in almost an instant. She had a stick of beef jerky sticking out of her mouth as she spoke, "Want some Bat?" she asked.
Kurt made his way to the center of the room and sat down. He crossed his legs and palced his hands on his knees. "Just try to keep it down. I've gotta keep as much focus as I can." He closed his eyes and proceeded grabbing a hold of every single shadow that he could get his mind on.
Joselyn glanced around the room before settling her gaze on David. "How long do you think it'll take for this thing to get through the teachers?" she asked. "If it manages to do that, that is."
Arthur tried to resist making a whimpering noise as he wrapped an arm around Crys' shoulder as well. "Thanks" he mumbled "But Im not very good in fights..."
"No thanks." Joss told Morgan.
Delaney crossed the room to sit next to Kurt "You don;t have to focus yet." She began placing her hand on his "The others still have a chance and the emergency elevator to cerebra works fine. Besides, your maps of the shadow relm have worked before and your more apt at navigating it now."
Morgan tilted her head and bit her jerky, taking the bit hanging out of her mouth into her hand, "You ok? You seem tense..."
Joss shrugged "I'm worried about the teachers."
"Really? They seem pretty experienced to me." Morgan stretched with a yawn. "Plus I saw news reports and papers about how good these guys are. I don't think we have anything to worry about. Plus you could always go kick that robot's butt like you did in the simulation, right?" she asked, jokingly.
"I don't think this is gonna be the same." Joss said leaning forward on his elbows on his knees.
Morgan felt a bit bad that he was so worried. While still leaning back in the couch, she scratched his back lightly, not really caring how he would react. "Don't worry..I'll save ya if the time comes. Kinda how you saved me in the danger room." She stuck her tongue out, even though he wasn't facing her.
"Ok..." Joss said. He was paying attention but he was also trying to listen for the robot.
Morgan knew that Joss was a man of few words, but it left her unsure of how he felt about her. She wasn't all too worried about the robot as it was, Morgan had gotten into several bad situations with the police and gangs, so she was confident in herself. Plus if worse comes to worse, she could run. Morgan stopped scratching him and removed her hand from his back.
Joss only noticed when Morgan stopped scratching his back that she'd been doing it. "That felt good." He told her.
Morgan smirked and started to scratch his back with both hands this time. Since he was sitting on the edge of the couch, she shuffled onto her knees behind him. "That's good. Hope your not weirded out at all." A flashback of Joss's pajama tent appeared in her mind suddenly. She smiled and suppressed her giggles.
Joss planted his foot firmly on the floor to keep it from twitching. But her scratching was relaxing.
Morgan's hands glided up his back and around his fuzzy neck. She was unsure why, but her heart was beating louder and faster. Morgan's hands shifted to his bare arms from his X-suit and gently rubbed his shoulders, trying her best not to get into anything sexual...especially in front of all these people.
Kurt opened an eye and looked at his wife. He took her hand in his and squeezed it softly. "I said it int he meeting, Del. Forge built this thing. I don't care what he actually built it to do, but it's come to destroy us." He sighed softly and opened his other eye, so both were settled on her. "We're going to be in for the fight of our lives. If I don't focus and grab all these shadows right now, I'm not going to have the time to do it, once it gets through our outer defenses."
Crys led Arthur over to an open seat and sat down with him. "Don't sweat it Artie. We've all got our specialties." She smiled softly and bopped him on the nose. "I saw you back there in the danger room. You may not be the best at fighting, but it was your plan that worked somewhat. You're a strategist."
"Playing chess against Locks on the flight to America helped" Arthur said, giving a small laugh at his feeble attempt at a joke. He looked up at Joss, he seemed nearly as scared as he was "Still, we're all here backing each other up right?" he said, slightly louder than speaking tone "It's not just three rookies against six sentinels."
Delaney looked up at Arthur's louder comment with slight aggravation then turned her attention back to her husband. "I wish I could help you..." She said. With this pregnancy keeping her from shape shifting the only helpful defense she had at the moment where the pack of shuriken on her hip and the specialized sniper rifle Kurt kept for her in his cash. It might not be able to bring down an indestructible sentinel but it had been useful in the past "Can you give me my rifle... Just in case..."
Morgan took a deep breath to try and quiet her rapid, beating heart. She knew that Joss had a good sense of hearing and she didn't really want him to know that rubbing his body like this made her a little nervous.
"Let's just hope it doesn't," David said, looking back at Java. He was having a hard time dealing with so much trouble in one morning and was starting to resign himself to just waiting out the day.
Watching David as he spoke, Joselyn moved from the couch arm to sit next to him. "So," she said, smiling. "Who do you think would win in a battle between Harold and Mario?"
David smirked. "Totally Mario," he said. "Hands down win. Harold or Kirby?"
"I'm sad to say it, but probably Kirby," Joselyn said, grinning. "He'd suck Harold into his mouth and then the poor boy would be helpless. All trapped in Kirby's vacuum mouth. Harold or Link?"
"Link! Are you kidding? Harold would crap his pants in the face of Link," David said, looking all offended. "Link or Kirby?" he asked.
Amy felt funny. She looked down at her hands. They were shifting into a pink tint in and out.
"Hmmm," Joselyn looked up at the ceiling in thought. "Link." When she moved her eyes to look back at David, she noticed Amy looking at her hands.
Joss sat quietly, still listening. He began hearing a "thump, thump thump." All of a sudden he tensed and leaned forward then realized he was listening to Morgan's heartbeat.
"What?" Morgan asked, leaning forwards too, "Hear something? Is it the robot-thingy?" she listened.
"I thought I did..." Joss said "But it was your heartbeat."
Morgan blinked before she shuffled out from behind Joss and sat next to him, "I-uhh...heh, you do have good hearing don't cha?" she asked. She was trying to change the subject, despite the fact that her heart picked up again.
"It's ok." Joss said "I'm sure it's alright to be nervous in a time like this."
"Heh...right, a time like this." Morgan took a deep breath. She leaned against the back of the couch, "Don't worry, it'll be fine." She closed her eyes.
Kari sat on the pool table and rested her egg on the green cloth.
del glanced at Kari and could not take her eyes off the egg.
"What's wrong? Your staring..." Kari said to Del.
Del Waved her hand and said only "Eyes." It was no secret that her senses where acting funny the last few days but at the moment there was nothing wrong with her vision. She just couldn't get over how steady Kari looked with her egg inches away.
Kari crossed her legs Indian-style on the pool table and rested the egg in her legs. She always acted like an innocent child, no matter what her age. "Ohh...that really sucks. I'm sorry about the side effects Mommmy." she smiled.
Mort was about to try sneaking out again when he looked round at Amy. He stared down at her hands as they began to flux back and worth. He went over and gently took her hands in his "Are you changing back?" he sighed gently.
"I don't know...but I am unstable." Amy cupped her hands and rested them in her lap. "I think I will be alright for a while though."
Mort stroked her back gently and sighed "I guess what we found wasn't as permenant as we wished."
"It was fun while it lasted." Amy admitted.
Mort leant forward and kissed her cheek "I guess I'll have to pick you up and carry you in if you turn back to normal"
"Alright, thanks." Amy smiled, "But I'm more worried as to what's going to happen here soon..."
"Worst comes to worse and you turn back to acid I can pick you up and throw you threw the robot" Mort chuckled.
"Umm....no." Amy said quickly.
Mort blinked a few times and poked her side "I was kidding you know. I would never throw you."
"Riiight." Amy rolled her eyes.
Kurt looked at his wife and nodded. He reached into his coat's shadow and after sifting through the seemingly endless supply of items, started to pull the sniper rifle out. He passed it to her. "Here you go hun. I do hope it doesn't come to this." He held the rifle in his right hand, his entire left arm was twitching as his clentched fist bobbed in the air. He had pulled all the shadows within reach and was now holding them tightly in only his left hand.
"No harm in being prepaired." Delaney sid taking the rifel from Kurt. Hank and she had designed it to be quite effective against a vrieity of foes.
"Exactly why I need to remain focused right now hon. I'd really hate to lose control of these shadows here." Kurt said, lifting his shaking left hand to show her. The entire room was completely shadowless now, save for the shadow within his coat, which he never pulled. That was his cash, if he pulled it, he wasn't entirely sure what would happen tot he contents within.
Arthur blinked a few times, he didn't know exactly what Kurt did but he knew it had something to do with shadows. He looked up at Delaney and Kurt and said gently "Do.. do you need more shadows?"
Amy tucked her hair behind her ear and walked to a window.
Joss looked up and said "It's here..."
Amy gasped, "Oh my gawd..." She backed away slowly.
"Really?" Morgan snapped out of her easy-going tone and stood, "Let's see." She grabbed his arm and lead him to the window.
"GET AWAY FROM THE WINDOW!" Del shouted and snatched Morgan's arm.
"ACK!" Morgan winced as she grabbed her arm firmly. "What?! I'm just looking!"
"And giving up pour position." Del said "Computer, initiate Security proticol 911."
as del issued the command steel plates 6 inches thick lowered over all the windows and doors. what they couldn't see was that identical plates lowered between the walls as well. Containing them in a nearly inpenatrable cell.
"Wow...buzzkill..." Morgan coughed.
"I don't think we really wanted to see it any way. Joss said
"I guess.." Morgan sighed and leaned against Joss.
"Maybe we should sit down? joss suggested
"Fine by me, bat." Morgan grabbed his shoulders.
Mort looked sideways at the metal doors and sighed "Is this going to help at all?" he sighed "I mean, all this does is trap us inside the room if the thing tries to kill us."
Morgan sat back with Joss. She brought her legs up to her chest and massaged her wings on her ankles a little.
"Once Nimrod makes it passed the others He will be coming after us. It's in his programming." Kurt assured them all, rather darkly really. "But don't worry. When he gets here, we'll move down to Cerebra There isn't a safer room in the entire complex. If he manages to follow us there, we'll be far far away before he notices it."
"And this is the second most secure in the mansion." del added. She didn't bother mentioning that she could hear the fight outside. "We should be safe in here."
Joss fidgeted uncomfortably. He wasn't as good as Delaney at hiding the fact that he could hear everything outside.
"You good, dude?" Morgan asked, noticed him squirm a little.
Joss leaned towards morgan's ear and whispered "I can hear what's going on outside."
"What do you hear?" Morgan leaned in as well, interested.
"I think it just electrocuted Mr. Burd." Jos whispered
"Holy crap..." Morgan whispered. Both Joss and Morgan's faces were awfully close to one another, "Should we tell someone?"
"I think Mrs Smith knows too." Joss said "She's got super hearing too..."
Then...they are lying....all of them. We aren't safe here." Morgan discovered, "Come on...let's get out of here."
"They've already barricaded the room." Joss said "Remember the steel on the windows?"
"Well...we're screwed." Morgan said as if it were no big deal, "I'll protect you." she winked, jokingly. "But what if we plug your ears so you don't have to hear that?"
"Isn't Mr. Burd the guy made entirely out of water? Will electricity really do that much to him?" Arthur said, staring at the metal walls and shivering slightly.
"Technically, Water's a conductor and if he's wielding it right, it should ground him, but he'd still get a little fried. Electric current rushing through a stream still kills all the fish after all." Kurt explained for them, a little fed up with all the talking truthfully. If he were to lose control of these shadows in his hands, they'd explode back to where they belong, basically tear through anything or anyone in their way.
Kari heard something. She turned and looked down at her egg that was wrapped in a blanket next to her on the pool table. She rested her ear on the shell and listened.
"Oh shit..." Del wshipered when she noticed Kari move the egg.
Kari tilted the egg to a different direction and pressed her ear against the shell once more. There was a squishy thump, followed by two more.
Joss' attention was drawn from the sound outside when he heard the sounds from the egg.
"Kari..." Del asked slowly
Morgan noticed Joss and Del look at Kari, who was listening to her egg, "Did I miss something?"
"Uhhhuh...heh..." Kari muttered in response to Del, she didn't know what to make of the sounds in the egg. Her fear of the egg hatching soon was on her mind, but she didn't want to believe it.
"Have you seen eggs hatched bac home Kari?" del asked crossing the distance between them. She propped her rifel against the pool tableside.
Kari brought the egg into her lap, "No....I haven't..."
"MAybe we should move before Nimrod gets here." Crys stated as she looked over at Kari and the moving egg. "That looks to me like it's gonna hatch really really soon."
"That's what I'm worried about..." Kari admitted.
Mort sighed softly "If Nimrod does get threw the teachers then I think I should stay behind. Im probably the only one who'll be a nuisence to him."
Amy looked to Mort, "Shut up. We can all do our share. You don't have to be so cocky."
"Well Im the only one who wont die here" Mort sighed "I mean I could just jump into the works and stick them up."
"Still!" Amy came back.
"Will you stop it?!" Kurt shouted, looking at Mort. "You are not the only one here who can't die. I've already come back from the dead twice now. You can't keep a good X-man down, but we're not sending a student in alone." He looked at Kari. "If that egg is going to hatch, you need to be some where safe, Kari. You can't be here or in Cerebra. It just won't be safe enough. I don't care what anyone says about the security."
"Well...not much we can do now." Kari said, gliding her hand along hte egg.
Mort jumped almost a foot in the air when Kurt shouted. He settled back into his seat, trying not to show that he was shaking all over.
"I could transport you and the egg into my shadow cache. There is no safer place on Earth, Kari." Kurt offered her, afterall nobody could access his cache except for himself.
"That's kinda....weird, don't you think?" Kari said with a sour face. "Thanks though."
"It's only safe so long as you don;t get knocked out or die." Del said "If you were going to port her anywhere I'd vote for the Baxter Building."
Kari turned her head to a metal window that used to view out to the grounds. "This isn't going to end well, is it?"
"Thanks for the vote of confidence hon. I have no intention of getting knocked out or killed. Not this time." Kurt said, reaching over and pressing his hand to her stomach. "Too much to live for."
"Honey, you alway get knocked out." Del said placing her hand on his "It's tradition."
Kurt grinned and shook his head. "That's not true and you know it."
Kari smiled at Kurt and Del for a moment before her eyes went back down at her egg. Suddenly she got a floating, eerie feeling. Her vision got blurred as her eyes filled to the brim with tears. When she blinked, they poured out. "Jayn..." she whispered.
Kurt took one glance at Kari and knew exactly what happened. Jayn failed. He couldn't feel his mind anymore, for that matter, Scott's mind wasn't there either. He reached out with his telepathy, searching for who was left. It seemed like Tom and William were the only ones left fighting on the grounds. This wasn't good. William could certainly hold his own against the futuristic sentinel, but Tom would get fried soon.
Kari started to tremble. She grit her teeth and started to punch the pool table green that she sat on, "Bastard! Stupid stupid bastard!!" Never before had she swore like this. She attempted to keep herself quiet for the students, but it wasn't working.
Del lowered her eyes to the floor. She wasn't exactly sure if it ws her animal instincts or not but she sensed what Kari aparently did. The host of people outside where ether dead or unconsious.
"Morgan... I don;t think this is going to end well." Joss said quietly "And..." He decided telling her would only make it harder. He leaned in next to her and kissed her on the lips.
Morgan made a small, muffled grunt when she felt Joss's lips embrace hers. Her eyes grew wide, completely in shock of his actions.
Joss pulled away and said "I know they do things different where I come from than they do here... But I just wanted you to know that if we die, I think I'm falling in love with you."
Morgan, being one not to blush easily, soon became defeated as her cheeks almost glowed pink. A chill went up her spine and the wings on her feet fluttered slightly. With a smile, she placed her hand on his and gripped it, "Don't worry, we'll be fine." With the tone and amount of sincerity that was in her voice when she said this, it was easy for anyone to tell that she felt the same way as he did towards her.
"But do you..." Joss hesitated before finishing "Feel the same?"
"Of course. You couldn't tell that I've had a crush on you all this time?" Morgan admitted, grinning sheepishly before pecking him on the cheek.
Kurt looked at Kari and then at Del. "I'm sorry Kari...I should have gone with them...I could have helped more than just sitting here."
Mort looked sideways at Amy, gently laying a hand on hers. She knew he loved her, he wandered if she loved him back. She'd said that she liked him but she'd always gotten nervous when he'd said love.
Arthur resisted the urge to look at Crys, instead bowing his head and letting Locks wrap around his middle slowly.
When Kari stopped punching the table, her knuckles were very torn up and bloody. Finally she wiped the tears from her eyes. Another noise came from the egg.
A loud crash could be heard from the entrance hall.
Crys looked at Arthur and inched closer to him, resting a hand on his knee. She smiled reassuringly to him. "We'll be fine, Artie. Trust me?"
Kurt looked to Kari and then to Del. "He's getting closer...if something happens to Emma, I'm to link my mind with Forge and Reed Richards." He felt that they should know what the plan was
Arthur blushed brightly despite himself. He looked up at Crys, into her eyes, and nodded softly "I trust you Crys..."
Delaney nodded. "Since he's in the entrance hall I say we move the kids into Cerebra
Kari whipped her tears, "Alright." she picked up her egg and got off the table.
Kurt nodded. "Everyone gather around. We're going downstairs."
Athrur got up almost at once and walked quickly over to Kurt's side. He didn't care if anyone thought he was a chicken, he was scared.
A little less hurriedly Mort got up, walking reluctantly to Kurt. He wanted to face this thing that was taking out all the teachers. Maybe he'd save the say for them and then he'd be sure they liked him.
Amy got up after Mort, she had been noticing that he was acting differently now that something was happening.
Morgan pulled Joss up by the hand and walked with him over to Kurt.
Crys followed Arthur, holding onto his hand with a smile on her face. Her free hand drifted down and flicked her gameboy on. She still had her pokemon game in it from earlier. She wasn't exactly sure what this Nimrod could do, but at least she had a bit of everything in that game. She did manage to heal Mr. Smith twice by using her pokemon game afterall.
Kurt looked around, anyone who hadn't walked over he reached out with a little of the shadows he was clutching and pulled them tot he group. He was sitting at the elevator that would lower them into the Cerebra chamber
Del crossed the room to Kurt and initiated the commnd for the elevator. A setion of the floor mved away and the elevator rose into the room
Morgan headed to the elevator, "Come on, Bat."
Amy walked alone towards the elevator with everyone else.
Crys dragged Arthur to the elevator quickly, "Come on Artie, we gotta get outta here before that robot shows up."
Kurt stood up and looked around. "Everyone in now. No fusing, load it up and do it quickly." He ordered them all, he didn't really care if he looked like a dick right now. He cared about the students
Joselyn helped David carry Java over to the elevator quickly, making sure to grab Harold as she went.
Kari hid her sobbing for the students and for herself as she herded the remaining students into the elevator.
Delaney Began ushering students into the elevator.
The steel doors of the recroom burst open/ BNimrob began scanning the faces of the students searching for the more dangerous individuals. He target the teachers first. "MUTANT IDENTIFIED: KURTIS SMITH, DESIGNATION SHADOW, KARI RELMAN, DESIGNATION, DREAMCATCHER, DELANEY BLACKFEATHER-SMITH, DESIGNATION WINDEGO. DISTRUCTION IN 5 MINUETS 39 SECONDS.
(ooc yes sod, Shadow, sorry. but i;'m not haivng nimrod say shadow of darkness. lol
Kari jumped and stepped back. She was about to take flight when her egg started to hatch. Kari gasped and dropped to her knees as the shell crumbled away slowly.

Kurt swallowed hard and stared at the robot. He couldn't see any flaws and seeing as Forge was the one who made it, he seriously doubted that he would. It was obvious from Forge's earlier transmission that the only flaw was in the programming. He reached out with his mind. He linked himself with Forge and Reed at the Baxter building, he should have done it moments ago when he felt Emma die but he just couldn't...He used the shadows and shoved everyone into the elevator. "Go now. I'll hold him off as long as I can!" He looked fondly at his wife. He knew it wouldn't be the last time he saw her, bt still. He had to give them at least a few minutes for the elevator to make it down to Cerebra. He'd be able to shadow-port in, whatever this robot could do though, it would take alot out of him for sure.
Morgan jumped when the giant device came into view, "Oh my-" She backed into Joss's chest who then backed into the elevator wall.
Amy's arms were regenerating back into her gooey self once more. Her fear was driving it to move quicker.
Mort was one of the few at the front in the elevator, his bones shaking slightly as he gazed up at the massive monster robot "I'll hold him off if you want..."
Amy grabbed him and pulled him into the elevator, "Shut the hell up!"
Nimrod scanned the three he had intitaly targeted looking for thw weaker of the group. He set his sights on Delaney and fired.
Thinking fast, as she usually did, Morgan was almost positive that she could reach her in time. She suddenly vanished from Joss and dove into Del to knock her away.
Casey arrived at the scene with Daine in tow. She was surrounded in rotating sawblades that rose and fell on her skin like sharkfins.
As Morgan moved to push Delaney out f the way Delaney's coat was swept upward. The unique fibers deflected most the scorching effect of the energy blast. However the force of the blast knocked both Delane and Morgan a good 15 yards into the wall opposide Timrod. Plaster crunched and crumbeled as the two hit the wall forcefuly. A distinctive snapping sound could be heard coming from Morgan's ankle.
Daine clung to her mount, the smaller piece of blood mercury still slung across her face to mimic an eye patch. She cursed herself for having little to no strength; she should have known better than to open up her powers to Nimrod like she had.
Morgan was knocked out when she hit the plaster wall. Her body was still in a very uncomfortable position in the wreckage.
Kurt's eyes nearly shot from his head as he saw his pregnant wife slammed into the wall opposite of them. "DEL!!!" He clentched his fists tightly, the ball of shadow he had just collected set his entire body ablaze in shadowfire. Flames shot from his eyes, arching out around his head. From his fists grew two lengthened katanas. He growled and lunged at Nimrod, slashing the blazing shadow swords across the robots chest, a shadow fist emerged from his chest and slammed into the robot, punching it backward, seconds after he slashed it.
"MORGAN!"Joss screamed, he extended his wings and jumped, gliding over the students rushing into the elevator. "Morgan... Morgan!"
"Get her to the elevator." Del groaned dazed. She was holding the back of her head as her healing factor washed away the pain from the impact. She sudenly grabbed her belly, hoping that her healing factor extended to the fetus inside her. Her heart was racing.
Nimrod raised his arms against Kurt's attacki. The strength of the shadows Kuert was wielding sliced into Nimrod's armor with shallow cuts.
Joss Grabbed morgan as gently as he could and lifted her up.
Del slowly got to her feet. "KURT!"
Kurt didn't even look back. He reached out with the shadows and engulfed Del, Joss, and Morgan and rushed them back into the elevator. The shadow hand that held them pressed the down button. "GO! I'll hold him off as long as I can!" He ordered them, pulling the shadow of the elevator to give him even more strength. He watched as Nimrod's armor healed from his strikes. He grit his teeth and lunged at him again
"NO!"Del shouted nd grabbed the back of Kurt's coat as it trailed up behind him.
Due to Delaney's shadow adamantoum skeleton she couldn't help being physucaly stronger than he was. She pulled him into the elevator and hit the bitton sending EVERYONE down into Cerebra which was located beneath the lower levels.
Crys laid down on the couch, stretching out, becoming invisible fromt he other side of it. She whipped out her gameboy and started to play Legend of Zelda.
Arthur came slowly into the room, dragging his feet as he went. He turned slowly, then closed the door quietly. The moment it was shut he smashed his fist against the wall hard before letting out a small yell of frustration and dove ontop of the couch and without noticing ontop of Crys.
"Heyy!!!" Crys yelled as Arthur flopped down ontop of her. "Arthur? What the hell man???"
Arthur became very still for a moment, then flipped over and stared at Crys. A second later after squeeling in happiness he was embracing her close against him, both Locks and himself wrapped around her.
"Ummmm.....you alright, Arthur?" Crys asked him quietly
"Ummmm, ok. You're not going to believe this but..." Arthur said before recounting the tale of what had happened. His voice became rather choked as he told the bit about everyone's deaths, and he was even forced to stop for a moment when he told Crys about her own death.
"Ummmm....you know, that sounds kinda crazy. Cuz yeah. see? I'm here, alive?" Crys said, glad she could actually move now. She sat up and look at him. "Besides, if that really did happen, I think it would be best that you not disclose that information to anyone. Time travel tends to be weird like that."
"You're alive cause the time travel didn't effect the ones who travel, you didn't come so you changed..." Arthur said "And... I... had some time to think... and..." he blushed and looked away.
"But still....you shouldn't talk about the events that you cahnged. It could have drastic effects. Happens all the time in the games and stuff." Crys said, arching an eyebrow when he started to stammer and look away
Arthur tried to look away, but Locks grabbed his head and turned it up and towards Crys. He bit his lip hard "I love you..." he managed to croak.
"Ummmmmm....I don't really know how to reply to that Arthur..." Crys told him, blushing deeply
A hug would be nice... Arthur thought, staring at the floor "It's ok... I know you never liked me like that. You were always interested in Joss." Stupid amish fruit bat...
"Hey...Arthur...The Joss thing...it's it's nothing." Crys told him honestly. "He just looks like a puppy. You know how girls are wiht puppies. He's like a chihuahua. Those things are sooooooo cute!" She smiled and hugged Arthur quickly, hiding her blush basically, within Locks.
Stupid amish puppy fruit bat... Arthur thought as he hugged her gently. Locks stroked her face slowly "Im sorry for telling you all this Crys. I know you've never thought of me like... like that." Arthur fidgeted nervously "I just realised how I had to tell you incase I lost you again..."
"I never knew you cared so much...Artie...." Crys said, blushing deeply. She tightened her hug around him and then looked at him, despite the blush. "Nobody really cared that much before...to think...you went tot he future to stop me from being killed! How romantic."
"I'd spend my entire life traveling back and forth just to make sure you stayed alive..." Arthur said gently. It was a corny thing to say but he meant it. He held her tight against him, blushing gently as well.
"Awwwwww!!!" Crys said, kissing him quickly, completely forgetting that she was in the middle of a game before he landed on her
BLushing gently, Arthur went to kiss her back but missed because she moved so fast. Blushing brighter at his inaccuracy Locks darted forward and did what could only be considered a lick against Crys' cheek.
Crys giggled and ruffled her hand through his hair
Arthur blushed and laughed gently, Locks was ratteling slightly as she ran her hands through him. It sounded like a cross between wind chimes and a xilaphone.
Crys giggled and suddnely remember that she had been in the middle of a boss fight when Arthur landed on her. "Oh crap!" She shouted, wrentching her hand out of Locks and digging in between the couch coushins.
Locks waved her game at her, it was paused for her. "Heh... looks like he knows what you like" Arthur mumbled, handing it to her.
"Oh like I don't know that he shares the brain with you, Artie?" Crys said, kissing his cheek. "Thanks."
Arthur blushed madly and managed to kiss her cheek back this time, lingering slightly as he did. Locks felt slightly dissapointed by the fact that he was considered as more of an appendage now.
Crys smiled and ran her fingers through Locks again. "Hey, don't you start feeling bad. I'm just saying, you don't really have a place to hide a brain in all that muscle, so you have to be sharing Arthur's skull. Right?"
"Kinda..." Arthur said as locks parted slowly. Instead of what was usually under hair which was just a smooth dome, there was a slight tip to Arthur's head as if it kept something else in there. "He has his own mind... it might be close enough that we can understand what we're each doing but his is still kinda small..."
"Oh. Well I didn't know that." Crys said with a smile. She was glad that he revealed that
"I've got a horn..." Arthur said gently, feeling the slight tip to his head before Locks closed over it.
"Could be worse. I once saw a guy who had 8 horns." Crys told him with a grin.
Arthur blushed gently and moved over towards her slightly "S-so..." he said gently "Do you... want to go out?"
"As long as Locks gives me back my gameboy." Crys replied, batting her eyelashes with a devious grin
Locks amost threw the gameboy at her, instead handing it over with a slightly shaking tentacle. Arthur blushed lightly "Heh... he's shy now." He winced as Locks thumped him on the chest.
Crys giggled slightly and put her gameboy back into the holster. "I think it's kinda cute that he's shy now."
Arthur tried to look as manly as he could, puffing his chest out and sucking his gut in. Still not looking very manly he said "Aren't you the lucky one. Two guys for the price of one." Before Crys had the chance, Locks began to beat down on Arthur with his tentacles, Arthur making a small noise of surprise and trying to bat them away.
Crys raised an eyebrow curiously. "Ummm....you guys got a problem?"
Locks froze in place, and so did Arthur. He let out a small nervous laugh and rubbed his head "Heh... well I was playing around... but I guess you do get two guys..."
Crys giggled a little. "Alright then!"
"So... what do you want to do?" Arthur asked gently, rubbing his head nervously and gazing up at her.
"Well I was kind of all set to just lay here and play Zelda. And then you guys landed on top of me..." Crys explained
"Sounds good enough for me" Arthur said, snuggling his slim form behind Crys and wrapping one arm around her waist to make sure she didn't fall off the edge of the sofa.
Crys blushed and snuggled closer to him as she turned the gamebyo on.
Arthur smiled lightly to himself as he gave her a small squeeze, feeling very happy as he watched Crys play.
Crys let out a small meep as he squeezed her
Arthur stiffled a yawn as he lay there. the sofa was comfy, Crys was warm and time travel took it out of you. He rested his head against the sidearm and was soon silently asleep. Locks was awake though, still wrapped around Crys and stroking her arm tenderly.
Crys shrugged as she felt Arthur fall asleep, but she continued to play Zrlda despite the fact.
Arthur let out a small snore in Crys' ear, Locks relaxed slowly and just slowly trailed over her side.
Crys was still rather confused about the whole Locks being another person thing with Arthur. But oh well. She had seen stranger things before.
There was a small pressure at the back of Crys' head, and it took a moment for her to realise it was a strange sort of kiss from Locks before he joined Arthur in sleep.
Crys yawned slightly as she felt Locks relax on her arms, figuring that meant he would be asleep. She hit save on her gameboy quickly, just in case she would fall asleep too.
Both were asleep now, Arthur breathing softly against her neck. Locks seemed to be stirring slightly in his sleep.
Crys continued playing and she slowly made her way past the boss she had been fighting and was swiftly moving onto the next one
Locks slowly began to curl around Arthur, holding him in a sort of half cradle half hug as they slept. If they had both been human it would have seemed cute, now it seemed a bit creepy.
Crys was just a little disturbed by the embrace that Locks was giving to Arthur
After finally wrapping around Arthur, Locks stopped and pulled Crys gently against Arthur. He was still asleep, but he got the urge to hold his brother and his girlfriend close.
Crys let out another meep as she was pulled closer to Arthur. She turned off the gameboy and snuggled up against him
Arthur let out a low purr of happiness as he snuggled up against her, resting his head against her shoulder and smiling to himself.
