The poem I wrote for the Valentine Poetry Competition, 2007:

"My Beautiful Mother! My Beautiful Valentine!"

My Mother's strife is over now. She is blessed with Holy peace.
The Lord has called her home with Him, thus ending all her hardships, cease.
My blessed Mother, I love and I miss you so.
Your light within my lonely heart will forever glow.
Your life here will be honored, remembered and praised
By so many more than just the young you raised.
You always thought of others first, while you were left with none.
So many took for granted all that you have so gladly done.
Your sorrows are all washed away now. Mom, you will no longer need to weep.
God's love cradles you with gentleness. No more mountains face you steep.
I'll try to walk along your path. My focus will always be
To enter in the House of God, 'til your face I again shall see.
This world is cruel and heartless, Mom. It is filled with the greedy and unkind,
Including some you loved so dear. Oh, Mom, it's hard to stay so far behind.
Your love I've always felt and it always saw me through,
Each and every painful moment I've been subjected to.
I'm standing on this stairway, which I'll do my best to climb,
Because I know what waits for me 'til the end of time.
If I could fly a kite, that would bring me up to you,
I'd be sure to bring you flowers, of all colors, especially pink and blue.

On this Valentine's Day, I will think of you,
For this day is all about those we truly love
And you're the prettiest, brightest flower
In the grandest of all gardens high with God above!

The poem I wrote for the Valentine Poetry Competition, 2007, I adjusted for every day of the year:

"My Beautiful Mother, My Best Friend... ...Has Gone Home With Our Lord and Jesus!"

Each and every day, I will think of you,
I'll hold onto your petals of love
From the prettiest, brightest flower blooming
In the grandest of all gardens high with God above!

"My Dearest Mom..."

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Spring is here, the time of year,
When your flowers will start to bloom.
They'll look for you for their tending to
             Only to feel the gloom.
Easter has passed, a sadness cast
             Without you nothing's the same.
I wake each morn, still forlorn
As I sleep, upon my lips your name.
I am told that things will better be,
But as time goes by, I still cry
For I wish you had taken me!
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             *hugs & kisses - Mom*
             Love & Miss you!
             Sharon

"Missing You, Mom, On This Mother's Day!"

             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
             Although this year from afar.
I look up to the heavens
             I see the brightest star!
             Your golden wings are beautiful,
As they sparkle and they shine,
             But they do not diminish
             The lady so divine.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Are you tending to God's flowers
             With your magic touch?
I am sure you bring more sunshine
To a place that already has so much.
             God must be happy
That you are home with Him,
             But without you here,
             My pathway's looking dim.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The peace you've found at last,
Mom, I'm really glad for you,
             But I must be honest
For I'm very sad and blue.
             There's such a huge void
             In my heart, my life.
I'm not sure I can battle
All the heartache and the strife.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
But, I will try to walk my path
             Of sorrow and despair.
             Hold tightly on your teachings
And take my steps with care.
All the mountains that I face
             So very tall and steep,
             I'll try to muster courage,
             Although my eyes may weep.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             God and heaven knows
             My goal shall forever be.
             To forge ahead, homeward bound
In thy house of God with thee!
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             "God, are you listening?
Do you hear my silent prayer?
I miss my Mom so much!
             My heart is in despair!
I pray for strength and guidance
In my time of such great need.
             Lord, I pray you're listening
As I come to you and plead.
I bow down to your greatness, Lord.
I admit that I am weak.
             Although a person of words,
The right ones I cannot speak.
             However, my heart to you
             Is an open, laden book
             And I know you see
The heartbreak in every little nook.
             Your light on my pathway
I pray that you will keep,
And when I waver from it,
You'll remind me what I'll reap.
I'll try to plant the seeds
             Of kindness and of love,
             Of compassion and of truth,
             In Your Likeness from above.
I come to you in prayer
In the sweet and precious name
Of Your Son, my Savior, Jesus.
For all of us He came.
             By Your Grace you gave
             Your only begotten Son.
             That we may dwell forever
With You, my only God, Thee One."
             Amen.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I love you, Mom, and oh, do I miss you!
             Your daughter, Sharon

"Steps To Heaven"

             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             Each dawn awakes,
             Eagerly waiting sorrow,
             Just as yesterday
             And pursuant of tomorrow.
I yearn to close my eyes again,
             Pretend the truth is wrong,
But all that serenades my thoughts
Is the same and sad ol' song.
             With reality overwhelming,
I know I must rise and shine
And try to find some meaning
In this lonely life of mine.
             As I begin another day
In gloom and doom and dread,
I try to figure in my mind
How many steps lie for me ahead.
If only I could know the number,
Of how many more times ten,
I would hasten my pace for sure,
             To finalize this journey then.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             Ne'er to fall asleep again
             On a pillow stained from tears;
             Ne'er to have to shudder
At the thoughts of many fears.
             Oh, the sweet heavenly peace
             'Tis what I'm longing for.
To look upon your sweet face
             And smile forevermore.

"Missing You, Mom, On Your Birthday"

             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Oh, I miss you, Mom, more than I can speak.
You've been gone, today, your thirty third week.
It seems like forever, an infinite time.
My sadness deepens daily, harder to climb
Out of this pit where my hope is lost
And living is becoming too great a cost.
I care not to stay, but I do what I must,
Even though my life is really a bust.
You always understood my heartache and woe.
Now I'm alone, with no desire to hoe
In a field that is barren of purity and trust.
All that's left is gore, greed and lust.
It's hard to live in a world where I feel
The good that exists is under repeal.
Each day I pray as I lay down to sleep,
My soul He'll take home with you to keep.

"Calling My Name!"

             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
As I grope my way through this paralyzing fog,
I hear a voice so sweet, my memory needn't jog.
I am really just so tired. I think that I must sleep,
But my dreams are haunted, the tears forever keep.
If I could lay my head down and drown out all this woe,
I'd welcome sleep forever, I'd surely let me go.
Oh, the voice I hear, calling out my name,
How I long to see her. I know she feels the same.
Her voice is getting louder, more inviting all the time,
I truly want to reach her, my yearning not sublime.
I hesitate a moment, take a look around,
But all I hear is silence, not a single sound.
As everything grows bright, my name, she's calling me,
I touch the hand I've missed, as I look upon and see,
The face, the heart, the lady, that I so adore.
She leads me safely homeward, onto thy heavenly shore.

<img250*0:stuff/RibbonGold.jpg>

I wrote this in loving memory of my Mom on her birthday, her first birthday she celebrates with God.

"A New Flower Added To The Master's Bouquet"

          - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Lo and behold, you'll weep no more,
For you have now walked on thy heavenly shore.
Your day has arrived with no more wait,
The time has come to celebrate.
The angelic voices sing, while the violins play.
You're now the center of The Master's Bouquet.
          - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Oh, what a grand affair, it all must be.
How I wish I was there for my eyes to see.
Our Heavenly Father plucks the brightest star
To light all the candles from near to afar.
A glow so bright, dark is the sun,
An infinite number, representing each one,
The years you've earned, years you'll spend,
With thy Father in heaven. There is no end.
All the toil and pain you suffered on earth,
          All revoked now, spawned rebirth,
Into a measure of joy immense,
          Happiness elated, so intense.
The bugle of gold will sound in your name.
All heavenly souls with conviction proclaim,
To give honour and praise in thy holy place,
Forever bathed, with God's blessed grace.
For a lady so grand, so finely fine,
Surely your table is laden with love divine.
His ultimate gifts, He's been waiting to give,
When, at last, you've come home with Him to live.
          - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
No more suffering, no more sorrow,
You're with Him today and every tomorrow.
You are so loved. You are so missed.
Many lives you've touched, exquisitely kissed.
He even brought home, a voice you admire,
To sing Happy Birthday with the heavenly choir.
I miss you Mom more than I can ever say,
But it's time you bloom in The Master's Bouquet!

My sister, [gruffybear], found this posted on a post office wall:

"My Mother's Garden"

             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             My mother kept a garden,
             A garden of the heart.
She planted all the good things
That gave my life its start.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
She turned me to the sunshine
             And encouraged me to dream,
             Fostering and nurturing
The seeds of self esteem -
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
And when the winds and rains came,
             She protected me enough -
But not too much - she knew I'd need
To stand up strong and tough.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             Her constant good example
Always taught me right from wrong,
             Markers for my pathway
That will last a lifetime long.
             ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
             I am my mother's garden.
             I am her legacy
And today I hope she feels the love
             Reflected back from me.
