"Sometimes...Take Time..."

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Sometimes.....
             Throughout our busy days...
In the chaos and the craze...
While we strive to live like kings,
             We forget IMPORTANT things!
The beauty of a tree -
               Ah, yes, a child's wonder -
Or of a rose in bloom -
               Do we dare to ponder?
             Seemingly insignificant matters
Like thoughts and prayers and such...
Well, maybe, "We'll do it later....
             ('Cause it doesn't matter much)!"
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Not only of our time
             Is our sparing small,
But with all our 'gotta' haves',
             We don't recognize the call
             Of someone in need,
             A stranger or a friend.
             Maybe, just a helping hand
Is all we need to lend.
You see? If it doesn't fit...
             Within our schedule range,
             Our accustomed style...
             We simply cannot change!
             I'm not going that way...
             I don't think I can...
I've got to get my 'this'...
             That's not within my plan...
             These are some 'excuses'
That we're guilty of each day,
But if we thought a moment...
             I bet we'd find a way
To make a call or two
             Or help someone in need!
If we did without a little,
             It would magnify indeed!
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             If our material possessions
             Were all just stripped away,
             Would we be left standing...
             Naked and in dismay?
Could we look inside our soul
And be content in what we see
Or would we make some changes
             And throw away the key?
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
To the door of 'think of me'...
Be sure it's locked up tight,
'Cause a whole new door will open
As you're showered with the light!
No longer will you have to worry
             About your little self,
'Cause the care you give to others
Will not remain upon a shelf!
             You'll be surrounded in ways
             You can't imagine thus.
             You'll feel much more significant
And no more like a 'wuss'!
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The rewards in life are plenty.
They are there for all of us,
If we do a little caring
             And refocus how we fuss!
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
So, let us all each day
             Find some time for others.
             Share our thoughts and feelings
With our sisters and our brothers.
I don't mean just family, here,
             Although they're number one,
But also, with the other souls
That may not always be as fun!
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Let me just say.....
That I'm guilty of this, too.
             That's why I'm sharing thoughts
             As I think of you.
And if tomorrow I'm not here,
'Cause we never know what's next.
I want my family and friends
To know and not to feel perplexed.
To say the way I feel...
That I love each and every one...
             Just doesn't seem adequate
Or that my task is done!
             So, if there's any doubt
In your minds as of today,
             Remember this I've said
And I mean just what I say!
I want to say one more thing
             This, most of all...
May you each know God's Blessings.
May they be showered on you ALL!!!
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
So, when we get so busy, me and you,
Let's try to think of others a little bit more, too.
Whether one gives to a stranger or a friend,
Others may follow suit, thus spark a warm and giving trend!

...[I was inspired to write this poem after I received this link from a friend] :

Five days after I gave this poem to my brother, he passed away. I believe that all things happen for a reason and I can't begin to say how the fact that I wrote this seems to emphasize my point for this gave me considerable consolation when I lost him. The way that I see it, is that it was meant for me to write this, 'cause of what was about to come to be!

Picked by the Daily Poem!

"Lonesome Path"

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
As I walk my lonesome path,
While my memories flood with tears,
I know that the time has come
Where there are no more years
             To make more memories
             To laugh, to hug, relate.
All that's left is in my heart
             To console my pain, abate.

I wrote this as a result of so much personal loss.

Picked by the Daily Poem!

"A True Giver!"

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The greatest reward awaits for those,
That give from their hearts of endless flows
With no expectations of praise or fame.
Their only intention, a smile to claim.
The rapture, the joy, they bring to a face.
Their deepest hope is the sad to erase.
Being a giver of hope and pleasure,
Is a blessed soul far beyond measure.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
My Mom always gave from her heart.
More than she had, I assure.
She always thought of others before herself.
Gladly and with intentions so pure.

"Global Warming"

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Winters certainly aren't like thay used to be...
Spring and autumn, we barely see...
The summers are muggy and miserable most of the days
And our world is entering an irreversible phase.
Yet, Washington won't let the scientists state
The true dilemma that is our fate.
Ten years to go for a chance of reversal,
After which there'll be no rehersal
For the greedy to act their part.
The reality of doom will have made its start!

"No Title"

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Whether spring is here
             Or autumn's come...,
             Guess it depends
             On where you're from.
             Whether the birdies sing
             Or the owls hoot,
             It makes no difference
             For you're in route
             To a brand new path,
             A brand new venture.
             Seize your moments
             Your thirst, a quencher.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Always remember, though,
             Each bridge within your lane.
             Tread lightly with respect
For you might need to cross again.

"Tomorrow?"

             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Yesterday is the day that was....
Today is the day that always is...
Tomorrow is the day that shall never be...
Makes perfect sense. Don't you agree?

"A Thoughtless Tongue"

Before you speak, (Now, in the meanwhile,) remember, declare,
The words of another can harm and impair.
The careless wagging of a thoughtless tongue
Can deeply wound an innocent one.

"Sticks, Stones and Words"

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
But like new, they'll mend and heal.
Words will break my heart and spirit,
             Leaving wounds beyond repeal.

"Words"

This is kinda' what developed/spawned from the previous two.</center>
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Sticks and stones may break our bones,
But like new, they'll mend and heal.
Words can break our hearts and spirits,
             Leaving wounds beyond repeal.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Remember, use some thought and care
             Before thy swords unsheathe,
             Review thy weapons carefully,
             Before you thrust, bequeath.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             Words can so elate us,
             Bring joys without measure.
Cradling us in love and kindness
             Become our cherished treasure.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             But, words can epitomize
             Deep chasms of despair,
Chisel away our hearts and souls,
             Causing pain we cannot bear.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
             So, let's remember this.
For the targets that we seek,
             Choose our words more wisely
             And think before we speak.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The careless aim of a thoughtless tongue
Can deeply wound an innocent one.
             - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
