Items are physical things that a character can pick up and use in a game. What sorts of items are available in a given world is up to the GM of that game. The Items in this chapter a presented by the age they were developed in. As a rule of thumb characters should be able to get items from less advanced ages then the one that the game is set in. For example a character in the year 2050 could have a sword, it would just be obsolete.
Playing with the quality of item that players find can add something to games. The quality of an item can be altered simply by playing with the weapon’s scores. For example a rusty long sword might cost 20 credits, have -2 accuracy and deal + 9 damage. Cheap weapons would also have a tendency to break or malfunction. Likewise, an ancient elven long sword might have +2 accuracy and +14 damage.
