Chapter 2: Sleepy Morning
He blinked. “Sarah...?”. He looked around, to see where he was. “Huh?”, Sinchao said with a sleepy face. “What’s wrong?”
“School starts in 5 minutes”.
He scratched the back of his head, and sat down on the edge of his bed. “Sarah? Aren’t you supposed to be in schoooo~ool as well?”,
he asked her, with a huge yawn in between. Sarah knocked him on the head.
“Don’t yawn in front of a lady! I was waiting for you”, Sarah replied,
“All my friends walk to school with their brothers..”.
Sinchao blinked again. He looked around his small room. It had a tiny desk in the corner, with his bag on top of a huge pile of papers.
There were many discs lying everywhere, and there was a big closet with clothes in it.
He walked out of his room, and took the first left, into the bathroom.
He stared at the mirror.
Had it been a dream? Could it be? It all looked so real, and felt so real.
It was almost as if he had been there himself.
He splashed some water in his face. “Don’t be stupid”, he lectured himself, “It was just a dream”.
He took of his sleeping-wear, and got in the shower. He opened up the cold water,
but left the warm water untouched. He needed to wake up first.
He washed his hair, and finished taking a shower. He walked into his room,
and opened up his closet. “Ugh”, he said, as he took out his school uniform.
“I hate this thing. It’s tight around the neck, not to mention the…”-“SINCHAO
!!!”, Sarah interrupted him,
as she walked by his room. “If you are going to talk about your… You-know-what at least close the door! Sheesh!”, as she walked on with an annoyed face.
Sinchao laughed, and closed his last button.
When he finally got downstairs, his Mom immediately started lecturing him.
“Yes, mom, I know I’m late. No point in telling me now”.
He took a piece of bread, and got on his way to school.
When Sinchao finally arrived at school, 30 minutes late,
he found his sister already in class. On time.
Apparently, his mom brought her to school.
“What’s this? It’s a miracle! Sinchao’s late! NOT. Sinchao, why can’t you be a bit more like your sister.
She’s always at school on time, and you seem to be trying to accomplish the complete opposite.
I’m not going to cut you some slack this time. You’re just going to stay after class”, the teacher complained,
as soon as Sinchao opened the door of the classroom. “Great”, he said with a soft voice, “more wasted time”.
In the lunch break, Sinchao went out. He couldn’t stay in there any longer. The school had a big steel fence
all around it, but the area within was nicely decorated with trees, and large pieces of grass. He walked to the back of the building, where he could always be alone, and sit down by himself.
It was always nice and cool behind the building, not too mention silent, as there was always a huge noise in front of the school.
But when he walked around the corner, he found his spot already taken. It was another boy, a little smaller
than he was, but of the same age. The stranger gave Sinchao a glance that reminded Sinchao of his mom. Sinchao lifted an eyebrow.
He spotted this kid in the classroom as well. He thought he simply never noticed him, which was pretty
normal for him, as he never hung out with his classmates. But when he thought of the fact that the stranger was sitting in his place, during lunch break, and he was pretty sure this student hadn’t been at this school before. Sinchao blinked, and suddenly he realised,
he had been staring at the stranger all this time, he quickly looked at a random tree, to take the attention off of him.
“Hi”, he said to the stranger, “You come here often?”. He didn’t. Sinchao knew this, but he needed something to start the conversation.
“Not really. Not all, actually”, the stranger replied.
Sinchao looked at him. What was this person doing here, all by himself?
“Well, I’m Sinchao”, he said, while sitting down next to him. “Could you, by any chance, be a new student in this school?”, he carefully asked the stranger.
“Yeah, I just moved in here. I’m Limbed, pleased to meet you”.
