Christmas Photography Competition

2010-12-28 [Kaimee]: Merry Christmas, that sounds like an amazing present, I'm very jealous! We're very sorry for those who couldn't get entries in for the Boxing day deadline, and I'm very sorry you didn't get a chance to enter something taken with your new camera. Maybe this way you'll have the time to experiment and get really creative and comfortable in the use of the new camera, and you can come up with an amazing entry for the next competition, or the reference pictures as Nioniel mentions above :D

For future reference, if ever a contest is closed before elftown time on the deadline, feel free to post your entry in the comments and ask the moderators if they'll accept the entry. It would need to to posted in the comments before the end of that day (ET time) but sometimes we can try to squeeze an extra entry in :)

As for the early closure, that's my fault entirely :( I had some personal reasons for not being able to get online on Boxing day, and so Silverfire closed the competition at the time she was available to do so.

2010-12-28 [Artsieladie]: Oh I plan on donating to Reference Pictures or I at least hope to. I can't describe just how happy this gift I have wanted for so long has made me and I never expected it to boot! I helped a close friend rescue a dog recently, a Pitbull, we dubbed as "Miss Molly By Golly", so she wouldn't be euthanized and I wouldn't take any money, because I felt it was a joint venture and it really was just about helping this wonderful dog out of a very rough spot she never asked to be into in the first place.

So because I wouldn't take any money for taking the dog into my home, she remembered that some time ago I had mentioned how much I would really like to have a camera of my own and decided to give me the camera instead of trying any more to get me to accept the money. 'Course I pointed out to her that she really was still giving me money, but just that this way it was indirectly, and she said yeah, but at least "this money" I wouldn't either spend on someone or something else, as I usually do, but rather this kind of "money" would remain where she felt it should be, with me. Actually she is right, because if I ever do get any extra money, I usually find someone else to spend it on or give it to. But I've never regretted it. I never regret giving to another.

But eh, it's over and done, so no worries now. I know sometimes things happen that can't be helped. I hope everyone has a not only a great and safe New Year's Eve and Day, but may it also extend into the whole new year too. Blessings to and for all! :)
