Poem's Title: Do You See Now?
Poem:
I cradle my heart gently,
rock it, like soothing a babe to sleep,
or comforting a sad child,
or a weeping friend.
Do you see now why I rock my heart?

When I think of what could have happened,
could happen,
might happen,
if that did happen.
Do you see now why I cradle my heart in silence?

A small sun,
blazing with feeling,
with laughter,
with sadness.
Do you see now why my lips are sealed?

A stray thought creeps into my mind,
I see you,
and a girl,
and not me.
You see now why I am cradling my heart at the thought of that future.

Poem's Title: When the Winter Winds Come
Poem:
When the winter winds come,
I will be gone.
Gone to a place of white snow,
And the frozen waters.
When the winter winds come.

When the winter winds come,
I will leave you here.
Alone without my heart to hold,
And my truest love to know.
When the winter winds come.

When the winter winds come,
I will be all alone.
With no love to see,
And no hope of being happy.
When the winter winds come.

when the winter winds come,
I will go away.
But still be true to you,
Please stay true to me.
When the winter winds come...
When the winter winds come...
When the winter winds come.

Poem's Title: Looking In
Poem:
I look through myself with one good eye;
brains spray across the walls.

Adulthood:
an un-rivallable disappointment.
Ten years made hazy by the flicker-flash of sunlight
through chain-links.
My nose rubbed in my every mistake;
re-live,
re-learn:
house-breaking the man-animal.
It now slides prettily to the floor.

Adolescence:
a drifting blur,
vaguely recognizable through the bottom of a bottle.
Pranks and petty crimes,
and the memories
that seem to be the only ones I will ever know.
They still hang, a rosy mist, in the air.

Childhood:
a vast string of adventures and a great sense of aloneness.
Just the odd times;
happiness,
horror.
Learn, live, house-breaking the man-animal.
It trickles down my cheeks like tears.

I looked through me with my one good eye.
I only saw the wall.

Poem's Title:Happiness
Poem:

Happiness is many simple things,
Simple actions that fly with wings,
From laughs to how she sings,
Person to person, happiness clings.

Happiness is a simple toy,
To be used and to destroy,
It isn’t a complicated, but a simple ploy,
It’s also everywhere, from China to Troy.

Happiness has many enemies: fear, anger, to be sad,
Of course it’ll lose and that’s pretty bad,
Determination, laughter, its allies to be had,
This creates balance and equality, my little lad.

Happiness will live forever (that’s quite a while),
It will follow you, for every single mile,
It’s part of our nature, of prestige and style,
And can be found and revived with a single smile.

Poem's Title: Lock The Closet
Poem:

Repression of the soul begins at an early age.
Hand a child a mask, and all the world's a stage.
Teach her to be accepted, weed out the dangerous seeds.
Ignore the silent sobbing, ignore her while she bleeds.

Take away her self-respect, clip her fluttering wings.
See what you have created, observe the pain it brings.
Smile and watch her struggle, keep the faith and stay strong
It all has good reason, because now she will belong.

Turn away her questions, show her what is right.
Teach her to hide her secrets in the solitude of night.
Love cannot be tolerated, not the kind she feels.
Create for her the concept of a disease that time heals.

Shelter her from sinners, tell her what they are.
The hurt that clouds her eyes is pity from afar.
Wait for the tell-tale sign, the signal that all is well.
Refuse to see the truth, discount the ringing bell.

Cry when she is gone, cry when she returns.
Balk at her sudden fury, recoil, though, as it burns.
Explain the situation, insist that it was right.
Reject her choice of lifestyle, lose the final fight.

Poem's Title: Infatuation
Poem:

A drop of happiness in the icy ocean that is my life. I have entered a garden of bliss, a field of content! Talking to you makes all my life problems seem so insignificant. The sunshine through the rain, the moon underneath the clouds and all things beautiful that glimmer through the darkness. It's been so long since I've seen you, but I remember it like yesterday, like the fading moons of long days past. A beloved image of you in my mind that I pray will last. You seem so close to me, yet you are still so far away, a distant sunset reflected in the ocean and into my heart.
