Samhain
is the celtic name and its the final harvest
also called the blood harvest
b/c all the animals.. cows and pigs
were slaughtered at that time aswell
to keep the meat for winter
(it costs more in food to feed livestock over the winter
than meat you will get off them.. so only bred stock was kept)
its the celtic new year.. the turnin of the wheel
life begins in darkness... in the womb or over the winter
life and death and all that dramatic celtic stuff!
so Samhain is the fest of the Dead aswell
you celebrate lost loved ones
and prepare that many may not make it thru the winter...

made from wood: sawed shaped and sanded from one solid piece of pine board, ton of different spray paints, plexi glass fret board, balsam craft board pick ups/gear, 3 different metal beading wire strings, real gibson tuning pegs tuners and guitar strap.

I had an awesome Halloween! Dressed up as Aodh! and both went halloweenin for candy with the kids and gave out candy to kids... I have people who bring their kids to my house every year as the only house they visit in my neighbourhood... as I do a real haunted house! and they remember all my costumes over the years... and say their kids demand coming to my house or its just not halloween.

In response to many requests for information about the neo-pagan version of Lord Of The Dance...

The words are credited to Aidan Kelly, C. Taliesin Edwards, and Ann Cass; the tune (when it isn't "Simple Gifts") is credited to Jenny Peckham-Vanzant, and may be an old shape-note hymn.

Aidan Kelly and C. Taliesin Edwards may be the same person.

According to the article in the filksong magazine "Filker Up #3," (a reprint from _Kantele_ #12, Fall 1982, and written by Cathy Cook-MacDonald), the first four verses were written by Kelly and Edwards, four more by Ann Cass in 1975-6, and the four seasonal verses by Ann Cass in 1976. Gwydion recorded the song, with variant lyrics, on his Songs Of The Old Religion_ tape (not the entire song, though).

I had a pretty damn good Halloween this year
the weather turned warm from freeeeeezin my freellin ass off
and I completed my faery Aodh cosplay in time
there werent alot of houses givin out candy
so Eirikr didnt get much
but I didnt give out 2/3 of what id bought
so it even out - he still has tonnes of candy
and tho I didnt get alot of children at my house
I had people say they came all the way across town to come to my house
so all in all it was grand

after all is said and done
I bid farewell to Aodh
the ears and hair falls removed
the clothes off to get washed
my hair cut to remove the over bleached dying ends
