Modern Magic 6

When the doors opened the exited into a hallway that had two doors on either side and a set of double doors at the end. She noticed one door had gentlemen and the other ladies, most likely restrooms. On the other doors were without names on them. Sireen stopped them about halfway, "Do you need to use the facilities Samantha?"

“No I’m good, thank you.” Samantha replied and then she continued on following Sireen.

At the end near the double doors she could hear voices and realized she was the last to arrive. "Don't worry, it is normal for Emrys to arrive last to their meetings. Bors, the senior will do most of the talking but his bark is worse than his bite." Sireen offered before opening the doors and letting Samantha move past her. The room beyond looked like it was straight out of a production of Camelot. A large circular table of mahogany took up the center of the room, around it spaced out were chairs several of which were empty. The rest were filled by eight men and one woman, off to the side was Mr. Archer who smiled warmly at Samantha, "Greetings Emrys to one of the several round tables."

Samantha smiled back to Mr. Archer and then head to a seat along the large wooden table. Her fingers touched the wood and the the chair. She sat and looked around at who joined them at this table. She notes there was only one woman who sat already at the table, she wondered who she was. As she sat she began to listen.

Mr. Archer cleared his throat, "At this time the assembled knights shall introduce themselves and retinue to Emrys."

An older man in his mid-fifties stood and nodded to Samantha, "Richard Bors, senior and my son direct descendants to Sir Bors." His son looked to be in his mid-twenties and a younger version.

Ryan stood Next, "Ryan Green, descendant of Sir Gawain."

The next several went in turn until they came to the young woman, "Isolde Myles descendant of Sir Tristan and Isolde." She had red hair and gleaming green eyes, and a soft irih accent.

The chair next to her which was two to Samantha's left was empty as was the one right to her left. Everyone was quiet and waited to see where this first meeting would go.

Samantha listened eagerly but didn’t know what to say when no one else spoke. But an introduction from her would be suffice. So she stood and cleared her throat, “I’m Samantha, Theodore was my family. Nice to meet everyone.” She sat down again in her chair.

Mr. Archer spoke next, "There is much to discuss within our organization and I fear that Mordred is already aware that the title of Emrys had changed hands. On top of that it seems that we have unaligned people involved in our war."

Bors senior inclined his head, "Unaligned people? What madness would drive someone to join this fight on either side. We here were born into this, these are our family seals." he said placing his hand flat on the seal in front of him on the table.

Samantha looked to Ryan and then to Bors. Her mind went straight to the biker who wielded a gun. She looked back to Ryan to see if he maybe was thinking the same thing. “You mean the biker who had the gun?” She then looked to Mr. Archer her eyes wide.

Archer nodded, "With the exception of one family, none have ever used any weapon other than swords in this conflict." He held up his hands, "And I am far too old to take up the bow as my ancestor did against a corrupt sheriff."

“Who do you think this is?” Samantha asked her eyes went around the table to see who would answer her.

"Only one knows of the struggle, but claims no side." Isolde said, "Lancelot."

Bors senior shok his head, "He wants nothing to do with the knights, he and his father have said as much. The stubborn fool though refuses to give up his sword!" he said looking at the chair.

“Should I consider him a danger?” Samantha asked them. Her hands locked together and went to her lap. “Is Lancelot’s father still alive?”

Archer answered, "No, his father died almost fifteen years ago. Oliver Lake is a nomadic soul, but I doubt he is a threat to you."

She nodded her understanding, “What do we do if we encounter him again?”

Bors junior spoke up from his seat behind his father, "I suspect it depends on him." Several of the others nodded their agreement.

Another nod came from her and she relaxed back in her chair and awaited on other business to come up. Her eyes went around the room and she focused on each individual person only for a moment. This was to process who was there and what they looked like just in case they ever met again especially durning a time of battle.

Suddenly, a name came to her mind Mt. Kaersarge and the feeling that something was very wrong there. Mr. Archer and Bors Senior noticed as well, "Is there something wrong Emrys?"

“Mt. Kaersarge, and something is wrong there!” Samantha said quickly when they asked. She wasn’t use to the powers yet and when things came to her mind like this it made her feel something, a tingling in her bones or rather a rapid response feeling wash over her. Her eyes went to Mr. Archer and then Bors Senior. She placed a hand over her racing heart and took a deep breath. It slowed back to its original pace but she was highly concerned about the place she mentioned.

Archer nodded and Sireen entered the room and took a seat at a side table, "Mt. Kaersarge is in New Hampshire. We have no formal prescence there, but I can arrange a rental place for our people to look about."

Samantha looked down and absorbed what was going on. She closed her eyes and put her hands in her lap. She took a deep breath and then slowly opened her eyes. Her hands wringed in her lap and she didn’t look up to the others. The feeling she was getting was concerning but she knew Mr. Archer would send some people there.

Mr. Archer listened to Sireen then looked to Samantha, "Is this something that I can send a few well trusted investigators for? Or is this something that requires a knight or yourself?"

Samantha could feel that whatever was happening at Mt. Kaersarge was important and had some sort of magical convergence.

“I’ll go with a knight.” Samantha answered. Her eyes lifted to Mr. Archer, “There is some sort of magical convergence going on there.” She added.

Archer nodded, "Your choice of who will go along with you, and of course if you wish you can request any other support as well." Sireen was still typing on, "I can find you somewhere to stay depending on how many people will be going."

“Ryan and Bors senior I would like them to occupany me.” She looked to them as she placed her hands back on the table.

Both men looked at Samantha then nodded, Archer announced then that once Sireen was done setting up they could adjourn to get ready.

Samantha looked to Mr. Archer, “How will we get there and what should I expect?” She asked quietly to him.

Sireen answered, "It is about a five hour drive." Ryan nodded, "We will take one of the SUVs, plenty of room for bags and of course our swords." Mr. Archer turned to her, "As far as what to expect, it could be anything. I have a couple ideas to keep Briana busy while you are gone if it okay with you."

Samantha nodded quickly, “She will need something to do while I’m gone or my phone will blow up with questions.” She told him. “When do we leave?” She asked looking around to Sireeen.

Sireen looked up from her laptop, "A BnB rental has been secured for your use for the next week if needed. So, if you are packed up you could leave by 2 pm are time."

“I can be ready in a hour.” She confirmed with Sireen. She looked to Mr. Archer, “Anything else to discuss?”

"Just be safe." he replied, "Sireen will give you a ride home and put me into contact with Briana. I will set her to perhaps furnish her room at your house?" he offered.

Ryan stood, "I will take the SUV home and pack up then return here to pickup Bors and then pick you up Emrys."

“Alright, thank you.” Samantha gave him a nod, “Should I be worried about what to expect? I mean I haven’t but cast a spell.” She looked to Bors and Archer.

Bors shrugged, "I would never presume to understand how those who wield Merlin's powers do it. Nor would I hazard a guess what we might find in New Hampshire that would be of interest to Modred."

Archer nodded, "I feel you are every bit as capable as Theodore was, and in saying that you'll adapt and handle anything that comes your way."
