The High Council Chamber is a huge, high-cealinged room. In the center of the room is a circle of twelve elaborately carved, high-backed chairs with an opening in the circle facing the high double doors of the entrance. Around the whole room are chairs, their original intent was to seat any who wished to sit and quietly watch the proceedings of the High Council. Now however, they are reserved only for the highest among Kymar society and the most important foreign dignitaries.
About a week later Rayne was summoned to appear before the council again.
Rayne stood before the council in a long black dress and blood red corset. Her hair was swept back from her face and held loosely in a clasp. She stood tall and proud before the Council members as they waited for everyone to assemble.
Standing off to the side slightly
Dahlamah pulled at her hair slightly having managed to get it under some controll, goggles replaced with a thick terquoise hair band to keep it out of her eyes. spiked almost like a sea urchin, she held herself with perpous and as much grace as she could muster, feeling uncomfortable slightly in the dress she had bought for this occasion. Sandy eyes narrowed slightly as she fiddled with the knives still hung from her belt, finding the familiar handles calming as she shuffled slightly.
Ninquelótë sat in one of the chairs along the wall, watching the Dark One who stood before the Council.
Rayne Phyerstorme...One corner of Nin's mouth turned up slightly in a smile, an interesting name...
Sho sauntered into the chamber thoughtfully, staring in wonder at the profligate wastefulness of the Kymar. "And they consider themselves akin to gods!" he muttered sourly as he took his seat. Nishe barked joyfully as she curled up at his feet showing the easy contentment that all animals had. He sighed. "At least this arrogant display of dominance and mastery of the Earth is beautiful, otherwise I would truly be disgusted to sit here." Sho yawned lightly as he inspected the faces of the most powerful men and women in the entire world. "I always thought it was interesting to watch as kingdoms crumbled... perhaps I'll be here when the seemingly eternal Kymar come crashing down under the weight of their own extravagance..
."
Humming to herself a little Dahlamah sat slowly at her seat, looking at the person next to her and nodding a little, rubbing her eyes slowly and resting them in her hands. "Damned dress. Makes it damn hard to walk around in, I dont even like dresses, I had to buy this purposefully for this thing!" Mumbling to herself as she sat next to the man with the dog, finding the whole thing tedious and agrivating. "Im supposed to be home gutting fish right now."
Sho looked to the person next to him, nodding his head. "You look like a practical woman, My name's Sho." He offered a hand to shake
"I was given an entrance pass by an old Kymar bureaucrat who was tired of the pony show. I figured I might as well see this site while I have the chance, you know? Well, anyway, what's you're story? Not to say you don't wear that dress well, but you seem uncomfortable in it."
FoalBerne sat in one of the chairs set about the room, watching as the members of the council shouted and argued with Rayne, he turned slightly and looked at the guard that was standing behind him. He turned his attention back to Rayne as her temper became lost and gave birth to anger. He watched the Council intently, watching how thy respond to each word she spoke. He looked down at his hands for a moment, rubbing them together gently, wishing he did not have to sit there and wait for so long.
Nodding slowly Dahlamah stuck out her hand and shook his firmly, her hands caloused slightly from days of hard work and sun bronzed skin contrasting almost comicaly with her bleach white hair. "Im Dahlamah, Im here representing my town, I come from a little village but my father was the cenitor or something of the town neer by, I took over because he said that these things were for the younger generation so new ideas could be Found, He's a fisherman too. Im supposed to be helping, its the middle of the fishing season, the bigest one in a 300 years, I was too young to join the fist." Laughing slightly Dahl relaxed slightly and held her hand out to the wolf so it could sniff it.
One of the members of the High Council stood and brought all those in attendance to order.
"Rayne Phyerstorme," The Council Member's voice rung through the room, "You claim that you were sent here by your master to negotiate the readmittance of the Dark Ones into Kymar society. A master who sent a messenger ahead of you, and who upon hearing our refusal of his request, mobilized an army and began laying waist to Kymar cities. You stand before this Council, an enemy to all Kymar, what have you to say for yourself?"
Rayne stood proudly before the Council, her back straight and her head held high. "I will say nothing until I know why you have sent for me again."
"We will explain all when your body guard arrives." The councilors seemed to be quite unhappy with Asdroth being late.
Sho nods and smiles briefly at Dahlamah before turning to the object of the counsil's attention and apparent distaste. "This one seems awefully sure of herself..." He mumbles to himself, giving Nishe a gentle scratch behind the ears.
FoalBerne watched as the Council addressed Rayne in their manner, he had a detestment for politics. To him, they did not live in the real world, sure they made good decisions from time to time. But, they did not live on the vanguard of society. Dealing with day to day troubles of Daily work and life. He watched each member carefully as his hair fell into his face, peering out through a curtain of hair long curly black hair.
"Asdroth suggested that we proceed without him, he was detained and does not know how long before he will be here." Rayne's voice was cool, but fear was beginning to show ever so slightly on her face.
An older female Kymar with solder length well kept hair spoke up
"How like your son Asdroth. He Is late, and has lets the enimy of our people know before those he serves." Her voice seemed to chill as she went on. "In another time that would be treason." The older man next to her ignored her remark, and spoke up. "He has good reason. I knew of this today, but he only left a note on my hair in this chamber." He held up the note. "I assure the council his deed is in need of his attention." The man smiled and looked to the Young woman before him. "Well I will just tell you then young Noble. We are sending you back to your nation with a few conditions. The first is simple. You are to travel home, and you will order on our behalf to have Phyerstorme to lay down arms disband, and come before the council with you if he wishes his peoples readmitted to this land. The second is that Asdroth is to company you, and you will never leave his sight when he dose not give you the ability to do so. In short you are his Prisoner of War. If you do not abide by the terms... the deal is off, and you will be killed in any manner Asdroth sees fit." The old man sat back and smiled. "Well what do you say young woman?"
FoalBerne raised an eyebrow with a slight smile across his face, peering out still through that curtain of hair, waiting for the young girls response. He wondered how she would react to such a decision by the council, he also wonder how it would affect her as an individual.
Rayne drew in a hesitant breath, there was conflict evident on her face. "I am sure that much of what has happened is misunderstanding. My lord Phyerstorme is a great and honorable Kymar, I will go to him and set things straight." She stood tall, her red eyes fixed on several of the Council members in turn, she would not show them her fear or anger, not this time.
"We also wish to send others with you." Another of the Council members spoke up, "Would the Dark One, FoalBerne, please stand before the council?"
Ninquelote continued to sit in silence, very interested in the proceedings and wondering who else was to be sent with this Dark One.
FoalBerne turned his attention now to the council who had called to him. He stood and walked calmly, his steps with grace and a certain fluidness in his movement. He stood and folded his arms behind his back in a respectful stance before the council, waiting for their adress.
"FoalBerne," Another Council member spoke, they seemed to be fond of letting everybody speak. Judging by the way one member took up where the last left, there was no way that these matters were not discussed extensively before these meetings. "You claim that you are among us with the same purpose of this other dark one, the purpose of negotiating the readmitance of your kind into our society. If this is truly your intent, then go with Lady Rayne Phyerstorme, and assist her in the mission we have given to her."
The Council doors swung wide open. A large Kymar in his black clothing, swords at his side, walked into the chamber with the temperature dropping substantially as he did. His plate grieves cut and hanging off in places, his breast plate missing, and with many cuts and burns on his body indicating recent combat. Asdroth cleared his throat before speaking. His voice still deep and calm. "I uncounted a rather unsavory group of Dark Ones at my privet home... twelve to be more exact." His voice grew darker then anyone in the room had heard before in there life. It put all now in the chamber in a state of shock and momentary fear as he spoke with his voice sounding darker and more accusing with every word. "I tell you it was a shock to find my friend and cook murdered defending a girl who has now for the seconded time in her life been assaulted by the Dark Ones! I find it insulting that a group that large could find there way into the city on their own, and was further disgusted when I was forced to interrogate the final one living for the information he possessed."
The older woman stood. "You sir, are out of line. Are you implying that your city guard should be able to monitor the moves of everyone coming and going? Asdroth...Your standers for security are as unrealistic as your father's."
Asdroth's face showed a true anger, and it came out in his response. "Unrealistic councilor? We are at war against a pale white race of Kymar who stick out in a crowd of our own!" Asdroth posed. His tone now a little more welcoming "Also councilor I do not blame the guards. You hired and assisted the assassins to come and do there best to aggravate my hast response by calling for our army to wipe them off the plane." The woman hesitated and before she could respond. "you also left a paper trail." Kain held out a paper with the councilors insignia ring imprinted on it. "you are guilty of treason!" the woman in to much shock to answer was quickly engulfed in water and ice. She stood there unable to move, and before she could use her power the ice coffin quickly turned iron madden. The council in shock turned to Asdroth and almost missed the blood being pulled from her body with the water into a canteen, and then that which would not fit turned into the air. The council still in shock, Asdroth turned and walked toward the doors. "I accept the Task of taking the young Fire Crotch to her precious Lord, and if you are lucky I will not kill the Burn Mark before the return. Anyone wishing for an adventurer may come as well." Asdroth stopped at the door. His tone dark and cruel as if all his compassion for this race had been lost in one morning then replaced by rage, vengeance, and hatred. "Hurry up and come with me you little Fire Whore, and bring the Fire Rat with you! If you are further than ten feet away from me after I leave this door I am going to put you on a leash for the rest of the trip!" Asdroth, threw the paper to the ground staring intently at his father before leaving the room. The gaze was cold and seemed to show hatred on a level most would find disturbing.
The entire room sat in shock for several moments, all except for Rayne. Immediately upon hearing his insults Rayne's hands flew into action, with a great sweeping arc of her arm, the palm of her right hand hit that of her left, flames igniting between them, and as her hand continued on its path, a great ribbon of flame followed. "Asdroth, you honorless curr," she fairly screamed as she brought her hand above her head, "You tow-faced..." with a shriek of rage, she sent the fire hurtling towards him. Her temper was beyond lost.
Many of those who stood in the Chamber gasped or jumped to their feet, but no one really had any time to respond.
"child..." Asdroth spoke calmly, and the fire turned to ice and crashed on the floor. He then stepped forward toward her. The Ice seemd to come form no where, and it in golfed around Rayne. It also chilled her to the bones making her feel the cold again. The same as the council member, but leaving her head exposed and the face that the ice was red tented from something. Asdroth walked forward to her taking his time getting close to her so that there faces almost meet. He drew his short blade on the walk. Then he spoke softly. "You will refer to me as Lord Kain, and you will refer to me as your better, or I add take a personal touch to your body." Asdroth's short sword found its way her through. "You are nothing more than a child who needs to learn when to still her tong. You made the same mistake as the last time you were here, and for that I should kill you. However I need use of you to kill that worthless excuse for a Kymar you call Lord. Remember that is the only reason I do not add your blood to this canteen on my belt." The blade lowered, and Asdroth turned and walked away. As he did the ice melted and turned to air, but a sticky wet cote of blood lay over her body and soaking through her dress. "Now move your ass. you are my tool now woman. Disrespect me again, and I will make damn sure you do not live to regret it." Asdroth stopped. "ten feet at all time or a leash, and you can not change out of that dress for any reason for the rest of the trip. That is too and from."
FoalBerne chuckled lightly and watched the scenes unfold befor him, as Rayne was covered in an Icey coffin though his smile faded. His arms behind his back his his clenched fist, he slowly calmed himself and opened his hands, sliding his palms down his arms and grabbing either shoulder. He stood behind Rayne and waited for her to move out of the chamber so that he could follow her.
Standing quickly Dahlamah Spoke up, adressing Asdroth. "Lord Kain,is the opertunity to acompany still open. I would Very much like to go with you." Bowing slightly as she adressed him Dahl looked up and smirked, her shite hair swaying slightly with the bow but still looking very much like a dandylion. Her sandy eyes twinkling with slight fury and hope at the opertunity to avenge the sea Kymar's that had been brutaly slaughtered when the main fishing town was ransacked by the Dark ones.
Sho had sat in silence watching the Kymar play their foolish games, watched as they sealed their own doom, watched as the first cracks showed in the perfect facade of Kymar rule. He turned to his life long companion, "Well Nishe, looks like this will be a long journey. That woman is an arrogant child but that man Kain is no better. Nonetheless, I think we should observe what happens. This pair of people may hold the very fate of the Kymar in their hands. I can see why my old master hated these people and their politics." He rose to his feet before projecting very loudly to the chamber: "I shall go as well."
"you are all welcome. Follow me to my home... What is left of it." Asdroth turned and went silent walking out the door. Asdroth's Home
Rayne glared at Asdroth, her red eyes blazing through her veil of dripping hair. "Oh, and you, Lord Kain," she called, striding after him, "Call me on my blood? You are noting but the bastard child of two races!" she yelled as she grabbed the back of his shirt.
Asdroth turned and lightning fast his sword put a cut across Rayne's midsection. When Rayne felt the cut his blade was at her throat. Asdroth spoke calmly and clearly. "Did I give you permission to touch me? Next time I will keep the hand." Asdroth's stare was empty into the blazing red eyes. It put an uncomfortable feeling into Rayne. "you will have one hour when we arrive at my estate before we leave. If you take longer than that. I will freeze your ass to the saddle." Asdroth walked now with his sword drawn. "Oh and Lady Rayne. I will kill you if you insult my blood again. Trust me. I do not bluff or offer anything less than what will happen. Now move your ass, and understand I am your master now, and my words are to be your religion from this day on." Asdroth left the room not weighting for the woman's response.
Rayne stood there, stunned, she couldn't believe that Asdroth had actually just attacked her. She took her hand away from the wound and stared at it like a foreign object, it wasn't bad, but it was there. It wasn't the pain that affected her, she'd dealt with plenty of pain before, it was the shock that Asdroth had attacked her in this manner, and fear of the look he'd had in his eyes. She stared at Asdroth's back for a couple of moments then silently followed him to Asdroth's Home, her eyes still blazing with anger.
Sho silently followed the two of them.
Grinning and following almost hapily Dahlamah spun one of her knives in her hands as she slipped through the door.
With very fluid, graceful movements, Ninquelote rose from her chair and walked towards the door. When her father stood and asked her where she was going, her gentle, almost musical, voice filled the room, "I will follow Asdroth and this Dark One, I wish to be present for these events that will determine the fate of much"
"Daughter, Asdroth will be present, allow him to face these dangers and report them back to the Council."
"No father, I will go, I have faced dangers before." With that, Nin walked gracefully out, following the others.
